Netanyahu's decision is based upon his perception, shared by Labor Party and Peace Now, that this will show that Israel wants peace. But in fact it does financial damage to Israeli families, puts largely Arab laborers out of work, and creates hardship more than we already have. It was a bad decision, and Bibi will come to be hated for it, and hopefully he will be thrown out of office as well. He made a gamble based on speculation which ignores the facts, and this might even bring all out war.
The stopping of building at this time, when the world is suffering from a recession, is stupid, not painful.
It is only going to add to the recession in Israel, which opposed to popular belief is real. Every single business owner feels the recession, although the news in Israel denies it. We should be trying to get more work and building up our land to fight terrorists.
