  • 12:02pm Tuesday (CST) - Time in Mississippi

  • Obama got Ted Kennedy help in getting elected! The great book Ted Kennedy:The Early Years at amazon shows this!

  • Obama deserves a lot of credit for cancelling these WASTEFUL NASA programs. Why are we exploring other worlds when we have starving people, homeless people back on THIS WORLD. Once we have solved all the problems here, I could see going to go find some other worlds... but until then, why waste all this money on a bunch of white scientists? Apollo was one thing, it helped win the cold war. But theres NO REASON for space exploration today. Obama saved us BILLIONS by canceling these programs!!

  • @ObamaBiden20082012 While it is true that cancelled a potential huge money sink where the main objective was not efficiency but pork-barreling as Space Shuttle (sadly) was, NASA budget (17 odd billion $) is shit if compared to the BIG HONKING HUGE defence budget. (650 friggin billion $)

And anyone knows that it is ludicrously oversized. The world's second highest defence budget is China, at around 100 billion $.

  • @bobafetthotmail I agree. If anything should get cut, it's military spending.

  • @ObamaBiden20082012 Obama increased NASA's budget. He moved money from one space program to another, and the head of NASA is a black scientist.

  • wish he was kennady i.e DEAD

  • @PANTSDOWN555 you are a racist. As are most of the people here who want to spend untol money on space exploration when there are millions of starving black people back here on earth. Obama 2012!!

  • @ObamaBiden20082012

Because people are interested in space exploration they are suddenly racist? Grow up. It's because of people like you that race/colour is still a issue! Get over yourself. Yes they may have saved millions but has ANY of it gone to helping those starving kids or homeless people? No, why? because he couldn't care less, it will go/went into the bankers coffers plain and simple. Obama has failed you all on every level. Oh and I'd say the same thing if he was white, epic FAIL!

  • I'm sorry but President Obama will never compare to Jack Kennedy. Jack was the right person at the right time. He seen us through when nuclear war was a breath away, his vision of going to the Moon brought us all together even after he was gone.

  • who gives a fuck buddy!!!!!!

  • Times are tough for many. If you need to make some money right now here's a guaranteed way to do it...

  • NASA went with a direct system the last tie we went to the moon for good reasons. In the end, that's probably the way that they'll do it this time too. We're just wasting some money now trying to re-think the wheel.

  • theres no more moon lol

  • Shit! I was getting pissed at my computer cuz the video is choppy. sorry computer.

  • Or.......... just use the fricking ENERGIA rockets from the USSR, and you may go to the moon and mars!

  • Yeah it is very laggy

  • I have a very important comment.

Cariann's legs must be longer than Ben's.

Look at the height of their respective chairs!!

  • Is it me or this is very laggy? :(

  • It gets better in about 5 minutes.

  • yeah works fine :)

  • The comment at 16:02 is reasonable. Even the most enthusiastic and the most capable of the private space launch companies are balking at the development of a Saturn class vehicle. They've even co-opted "heavy" to mean "not Saturn class" :)

If you were going to try to do it with existing EELVs you'd have to launch your lander in two parts.. and not just ascent and descent stages. This would probably require EVAs to assemble, and that's a no-no.

  • @quantumG - I agree. That's why I'd rather NASA stick with Constellation/Ares or at least DIRECT/Jupiter. Not only are they well thought-out plans with a destination they require a lot less work than trying to man-rate an EELV then expand an EELV into a "Saturn-class" HLV. The latter thing with an EELV would probably be more expensive than just creating the Ares V or the Jupiter-246/232 which start out as Saturn-class HLVs to begin with.

  • @quantumG - I like both NASA and the private spacers but I agree 100%. Nothing about SpaceX (the only real contender right now for any real flights in this decade in the private space sector) really inspires hope or confidence in me that they'll get to the Moon before 2023. Let alone Mars. Interplanetary travel in a piecemeal fashion is an engineering and logistical no-no. If they aren't willing to make a Saturn-class vehicle then leave interplanetary flight to NASA.

    SpaceX can handle LEO.

  • i iz the ringmaster, just so you know
