  • My sister actually found a full unused bottle of the original stuff from the 70's and never uses it she just opens it time to time just to smell it! And I don't blame her!

  • Wow shampoo from Woodstock!

  • oh how this brings back memories from my childhood. Back when commercials were fun

  • trippy.

  • I'd love to have the original herbal essence scent back!! I loved the way it smelled!! Please, please bring it back!!!

  • Yeah I was in elementary school when this shampoo was out. Loved it! As well as Body on Tap, Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific, Earth Born, Breck shampoos and Silkience conditioner. My hair loved Silkience. Why don't they bring back some of these oldies but goodies!!!

  • I just spent a ton of money at that vermont country store,,,I found Lemon-up, Gee your hair smells terrific and body on tap...I also ordered some Ralston cereal..I could have spent a fortune! I miss the old scents like the ole Johnson's baby shampoo and clairol herbal essence...Milk plus six, silkience...oh man...

  • These commercials were on TV when I was in kindergarten, and I was always thinking that the animated woman was like a magical mermaid, mainly because of the one commercial that showed her swimming around underwater before bursting out dramatically out of the water in slowmo while voices sang, "Herbal Essence Shampoo!" ;)

  • @CaptainGoofysstash not a mermaid, but maybe a nymph, or Venus/Aphrodite.Anyway,that stuff smelled absolutely divine and I miss it

  • This is the 40th anniversary, to think Clairol would produce a limited edition of the original!

  • Nobody's yet noticed that the voice over is French actor Louis Jourdan.

  • I'd buy it again if it was the original formula, not the flowery nasty stuff they have now

  • @cubbyatl Actually, although it's expensive, vermont country store online has a knock off called country herbal shampoo. It really DOES smell exactly like it. Same color and everything. I think they had the original analyzed by a lab and duplicated it.

  • This was my favorite shampoo as a little girl (I was born in '71) followed by Breck's clear Honeysuckle shampoo. However my mom insisted we use Faberge Organics wheat germ oil and honey for some reason...

  • @JsgHair71 because you'd tell two friends, and they's tell two friends, and the THEY would tell two friends, etc.

  • Actually, a great shampoo. And Ladysensei is right. It smelled great.

  • Best smelling shampoo and they changed it! Bring back the old scent!

  • @Ladysensei I agree. So many people including myself, find that the new ones smell bad, and so strong they give you a headache. The company is very stupid for not listening to so many of their customers who want the original back. Walmart will be selling a Mexican brand named Caprice that has an herbal shampoo that is supposed to smell the same. Ironically, it's made by Palmolive.

  • @Ladysensei

I think we can all agree, Herbal Essence had the best scent. I've emailed Herbal Essence/Clairol to ask them to bring it back even for a limited time. I've told them those of us who used it and loved it in the 70s would clear the shelves in no time! Everyone email them and maybe we can start an Herbal Essence Revival! By the way and off the subject, does anyone else remember Golden Circle bread from the 60s and maybe the 70s? Best tasting bread ever!
