Wow, in some voice actors, you can't really hear the connection between their voice when you see them as a person, and the animated character they voice for. But with this guy, I can really hear the Cloud I hear on Kingdom Hearts.
@heianvampire I'm not sure if you do this, but I always have ear-buds on and sometimes I really just like listening with just the right one on. For this video, you need to have both on cause I thought the exact same thing as you. Apparently he's voice can be heard with the left ear-bud. Hoped this helped:)

Steve really has a good understanding of Cloud and the role he was taking on and a very humble attitude. This really shows in his character and I think that part of the reason why he did such a great job on the voice.Good job Steve Burton!

Not "probably". Like I said before, some FF characters from games before FF10 WERE voiced for the first time in the KH series. It's pretty common for a character to not be voiced in the game he/she is originally from.
The very first FF game to have voice acting was FF10. In turn, some FF characters from games before FF10 had their first voiced appearance in the KH series, like Cloud and Squall.
I think he does a great cloud. My only real "urk" with him is that he could definantly make his voice a lot more powerful during any fighting. He does normal talking fine cuz he has the emotion of "heavy" perfectly for cloud. Compare jap and eng versions of FF dissidia for example

All japanese voice actors sound extremely similar you have squeaky yu gi oh japanese and then the sumo wrestler deep japanese. Its like one guy does all the voice acting and they just change the pitch . Steve Burton has the perfect voice for this role

Very fitting voice for Cloud. \What I also like about it though is that it contrasts very effectively with George Newburn's Sephiroth. I was very impressed with their dialogue exchanges in the "final battle scene" of Advent Children...you really got the sense that the characters knew each other, and that it wasn't just "somebody in a booth" instructed to read a certain line.
"Cloud's cool and that's what he's known for." ...Yup. (Reminds me of David Gallagher's opinion of his character. "Riku's a sexy guy." xD Glad to see they understand their roles.)

@darkfire170 I'd say Steve Burton gets a good amount of dialogue on General Hospital. But if he seems quiet and monotonous at times, it's because his character Jason suffered memory loss and brain damage as a result of a car accident.

Actually the KH version of Cloud doesn't seem like he ever played FFVII, They dumbed him down dramatically compared to real Cloud. Real Cloud has depth, KH Cloud just happens to not like a guy named sephiroth and carrys a big sword, and kinda looks like the real guy. It's like they hired a misinformed Cloud cosplayer to play Cloud in KH because the real one selected "Not Interested" and went to fight Emerald Weapon instead.
His voice is good though, its exactly how I pictured him sounding

Also, they imply that Sephiroth and Cloud have a longer history, but they just decide not to impart us with it.

Well, the thing is, all they do is use all that lame Kingdom Hearts talk, blah blah blah darkness, blah blah blah heart darkness heart heart, nothing of any relevence to anybody, it just dumbs down the characters. They don't speak in the way they really would, they make them in the image of the fanboy, not of the character, and all the great depth is lost on most of the fans. It ended up ruining the character for Dissidia and any subsequent game involving the FFVII Cast
I guess that the "language" they speak is somewhat vague. What is "darkness?" What constitutes a "heart?" etc. But that's Square Enix for you. Of course, FF and KH aren't philosophy courses, just stories.
Although I think that the later Final Fantasies fixed that sorta thing, especially FFXII. Less of that bland metaphysics crap, more bunny women, more predestinational deities, more geopolitics, and more magical space rocks. It makes one helluva lot more sense, trust me.
FFXII wasn't that great, it was OK, but nothing worth playing more than once, it was anticlimactic. Besides, the older FFs didn't have those problems either, only KH did. The series has been on a downslope since KH1 came out. I'm not blaiming KH, I love those games, I just think after FFX the entire franchise took a downturn, most likely caused by it's jump into the main mainstream of games. They've found something new to replace making amazing games; making money.
FFXII was excellent, if you ask me, although I had to trudge through the gameplay (I did not like the license system at all). The story itself was pretty damn good, especially because of the game's focus on the political, rather than the magical.
I do agree that the most recent Square Enix games haven't been as stellar as the older ones, though. But hey, Final Fantasy XIII is coming out in 3 days! That'll be something!
I just think it dropped off at the end, it felt too short, and yeah, the licence system was kinda half baked. The political stuff also wasn't well enough portrayed because it was too magically based to be a good pure political storyline. Also, I didn't find any of the characters to be in any way relateable or interesting, especially Vaan, he seemed useless to the plot for most of the game

True... but I don't see Final Fantasy completely relinquishing magic in favor of politics in their games. And yeah, Vaan was a dumbass... although some of his dialogue was pretty funny (like when he asked how old Fran was, remember that? Hilarious!). Balthier, Basch, and Larsa were pretty good, though. Doctor Cid has gotta be my favorite, that crazy old bugger.
And yeah, I was referring to the Japanese release. Sadly, it's not due for a NA release until March 9 next year.

Dude, he does the voice for Cloud in everything where Cloud has an English voice. Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, and Dissidia.
In the first Kingdom Hearts game he was voiced by former N'Sync member Lance Bass (you might now him best as that celebrity who people were talking a lot about a few years back when he came out of the closet), but in every other game Sephiroth has been voiced by George Newbern (who some people may know best as the voice of Superman from the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited cartoon series).
Nope. Cloud's had two seiyus in Japan (one for this PlayStation fighting game that used Final Fantasy VII characters called "Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring," and another who's voiced Cloud in Japan since Kingdom Hearts).
Steve Burton is the only English voice actor for Cloud so far (I looked it up).
i hate how people are all like "i hate the english voice actors they suck!" its a total disgrace those people. they work just as hard on those characters as the original seiyu!

I guess that the "language" they speak is somewhat vague. What is "darkness?" What constitutes a "heart?" etc. But that's Square Enix for you. Of course, FF and KH aren't philosophy courses, just stories.
Although I think that the later Final Fantasies fixed that sorta thing, especially FFXII. Less of that bland metaphysics crap, more bunny women, more predestinational deities, more geopolitics, and more magical space rocks. It makes one helluva lot more sense, trust me.

FFXII wasn't that great, it was OK, but nothing worth playing more than once, it was anticlimactic. Besides, the older FFs didn't have those problems either, only KH did. The series has been on a downslope since KH1 came out. I'm not blaiming KH, I love those games, I just think after FFX the entire franchise took a downturn, most likely caused by it's jump into the main mainstream of games. They've found something new to replace making amazing games; making money.

FFXII was excellent, if you ask me, although I had to trudge through the gameplay (I did not like the license system at all). The story itself was pretty damn good, especially because of the game's focus on the political, rather than the magical.
I do agree that the most recent Square Enix games haven't been as stellar as the older ones, though. But hey, Final Fantasy XIII is coming out in 3 days! That'll be something!

I just think it dropped off at the end, it felt too short, and yeah, the licence system was kinda half baked. The political stuff also wasn't well enough portrayed because it was too magically based to be a good pure political storyline. Also, I didn't find any of the characters to be in any way relateable or interesting, especially Vaan, he seemed useless to the plot for most of the game
Where's XIII coming out in 3 days? Japan? I thought it wasn't due for NA release until april or so

True... but I don't see Final Fantasy completely relinquishing magic in favor of politics in their games. And yeah, Vaan was a dumbass... although some of his dialogue was pretty funny (like when he asked how old Fran was, remember that? Hilarious!). Balthier, Basch, and Larsa were pretty good, though. Doctor Cid has gotta be my favorite, that crazy old bugger.
And yeah, I was referring to the Japanese release. Sadly, it's not due for a NA release until March 9 next year.

Granted I'm still gonna try the different varients of XIII, but still, it's not gonna be as good as the pre-Squarenix games

For some reason, I want to tell you to go watch a couple episodes of General Hospital. I think Steve fits pretty well.
It's not the voice actors fault that the entire bajillion-game long FF story wasn't incorporated into KH.

Oh my god! i knew it! When i heard his voice i was like that is steve burton! ANd it was. I figured it out by watching Advent Children. I was estatic because Steve Burton plays Jason on General Hospital! I <3 him so much!

Dude, he does the voice for Cloud in everything where Cloud has an English voice. Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, and Dissidia.

In the first Kingdom Hearts game he was voiced by former N'Sync member Lance Bass (you might now him best as that celebrity who people were talking a lot about a few years back when he came out of the closet), but in every other game Sephiroth has been voiced by George Newbern (who some people may know best as the voice of Superman from the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited cartoon series).

Nope. Cloud's had two seiyus in Japan (one for this PlayStation fighting game that used Final Fantasy VII characters called "Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring," and another who's voiced Cloud in Japan since Kingdom Hearts).
Steve Burton is the only English voice actor for Cloud so far (I looked it up).
