  • Oh, and by the way:

    - كده comes from MSA "كذا".

    - Egyptian uses "ليْ" instead of "إلي". Sometimes they say "ليَّ" depending on context.

    - The whole phrase means "Why are you giving me that look?", that's because the word كده is used. If it had been "بتبص لي ليه؟" without كده, then it would mean "Why are you looking at me?".

  • Actually, there is a difference between ص and س. People in phonology can tell you the difference between them. In fact, using one of them instead of the other would mean changing the implied "feeling" or "sense" that comes with every sound. For example ص implies strength and independence, while س feels like stealth, mystery and obscurity. That's why it might seem a bit feminine to use س where you should use ص. That sense is interlingual and it's important to consider when learning a new word.

  • Egyptions are nice but I really don't like their dialect. I hate heard the G sound when it should be a J sound.
