I agree with you on this 100%. Orientation sucks balls. I'm living in residence, so I knew a few people on my floor (not their names because I was late to the floor orientation -_-;) when I saw them in the crowd, and I'm sure they knew me as well, but since you don't know anyones name you go through the day doing like you said, saying "Hey you live in my floor right? I'm (insert name here) and you're..." It get's old. But it's necessary, and if you don't do it your're waaaay worse off.
Do you HAVE to go to orientation?
