john cant be the beast. it wouldnt make sense. during the first game, theres a dead drop that is a recording of kessler talking about how the ray sphere has no effect of normal humans, it only creates powers for conduits. john was right on coles trail when the bomb went off so john would have been blasted by the ray sphere and gotten powers right then. since he had no powers, he wasn't a conduit, and thus the raysphere has no effect on him.

David was blasted with the sphere like 30 times or some ridiculous number, each time powering david up. After the first phase of testing, Kessler told David's wife that he left her, whch led to the death of his wife and his daughter. So David used his powers and chased Kessler for years. But now that the beats is here, David mistakes Cole for Kessler which is why hes trying to kill him.

Cole fights the BEAST twice in this game. first he loses. and btw, at 0:46 when Cole was laying down in front of the falling statue, look, at the right of the statues head. you can see these RED marks in the shape of a V. well, those RED marks have been added to the BEAST'S appearance. the V is on the front of his body
