Thanks for the vid, Gavkoo. It was great to see the inner workings of this knife. It actually confirmed my decision to sell my full-size Aegis a couple of months after I got it. It struck me after some time in EDC use to be a really cool looking kid's toy with a great blade. $65 at that time for a flimsy folder with lots of blade play was just unacceptable to me. Your vid shows why it's the way it is. It's weakly built and over-complicated.
Cool Mod! Did the same thing to my Flash 1 a while back! I aswell took out the anoying lockbar. It too is still "semi" assisted though :D and I now have up and down bladeplay... not much but it's there!
@HKYEW yes but to reference to those milled out areas as molded out areas just sounds wrong lol. much better expression is milled out areas even though its plastic mold...
I would like to see SOG make a well made knife, you know, steel liners, open frame construction, liner lock ... g10 ... VG10 ... and a hole on the blade. (almost perfect)
@1337Leva im not a fan of assisted blades. just grew to like regular manual knives. but its still almost like a half assisted lol. not what i was hoping for totally.
i understand completely why you dont want it assisted (so you dont have to explain the assisted opening) i live in florida and even though pocket knives are legal im starting to get annoyed from people assuming im carrying a pocket knife for protection not even a big one so im getting an even smaller folder so i dont have to explain myself so anybody
Great and informative video, Gavko. After seeing that they have torsion from two different springs, it is no wonder the blades fly out with such authority. I would be interested in seeing you put a convex on that blade. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
good video man, SOGs are notorious for blade play. I have been so close to buying them so many times but the blade play always makes me put them back..
That's really cool, thanks for showing Gav, when I first started with knives I loved the assisted opening style, now I'm finding that I enjoy Manuel folders a more.
Funny thing, I've been into folders for so long and probley will always like them, but as of late I've been bitten by the fixed blades bug, neck knives, large fixed blades and even throwing knives lol.
Ahhh!!! that spring brings back nightmares of taking apart my SOG Flash 2... putting that spring back when completely disassembled is a PAIN..

if u tighten the 2 screws about the lock release just a small amount you'll get rid of that rattle.

I think you should convex it halfway up the blade in my humble opinion...Then chop down a tree lol jk.

I think it would be cool to modify the cold steel paradox the grivory one only sells for 38 dollars on amazon

Great review, I do agree that assisted folders are much more likely to arouse susspicion if they were found by police, wise modification.

Do a cut test before and after if you give it a convex edge.

What oil is that? Did you just put oil in some sort of syringe?
MrBloodude67 2 months ago
Very nice... also agree that watching you convex that knife would be great.
