Also, I don't know about you, but Roberts's death was really sudden, narratively speaking. He was fine a moment ago, and for no reason, he died. Well, between that and the message from the other team. "We went to go do this ourserves!" Dead.
@Overhazard Yeah, those things are huge, yellow caterpillars instead of the greener, smaller kinds...so this marks their brief introductory encounter.
And there's no way anyone can blame this on the localized version of the text...because Roberts does just randomly decide to die on you after the boss is gone and is removed from the missions that follow this one. And the whole notion of a survey team that got this far only to tell you about it and die is a logical black hole of its own sort.
Have you ever fought this boss on Hard? If I remember correctly, Levin can only take about 6 swipes before he goes down. It doesn't help that he has ridiculous range with his claws. He even uses the dust kicked up from the horizontal laser sweep to hide the fact that he's charging up the homing one! Grenades and your whip do a lot of damage to him if you can manage it.
Even when he isn't around anymore, Roberts will always be there to point out why you are still a kid.
@Evi1Hunter4 I actually never bothered to play this game above Normal until a couple of weeks ago, and I'm already impressed with the difficulty by comparison. Easy just tended to have things die if you shot them a couple of times anywhere, but this is more like it.
Then I get to a boss, and I start getting roughed up like crazy...and then I realize there are harder difficulties, two of them needing to be unlocked to even access them. This game has got it going on in the challenge department!
