We must understand that even though we are a modern era, the teachers do not open and could not let go of certain traditions. And the fact of receiving the compliments of the disciples in this way does not diminish at all its merits!
What an ego maniac,sitting their having his feet touched up. I heard lots of good things about this guy. If he was humble he simply would accept these blokes touching his feet for respect and bowing to him. Hope he rest in peace without people touching his feet!
What is it in others' ego gratification that shakes our own? :) A simple technique to spot ego in our selves is to ask: "i'm I in peace right now?" If you feel anything other than peace then you're in ego. At this point on, keen observation of any thought and emotion is essential to understand, and thus reabsorb, the ego component back into the stream of consciousness. This effort results in a happier life in which one doesn't feel the need to call "the straw in the eyes of others". in-joy
The question to ask is, "How is Feet Kissing pertinent to reaching Enlightenment?" Pattabhi is playing Guru, part of that role is to have your feet kissed. Kissing Feet is a love technique for awakening Kundalini. But is it really necessary to kiss feet to awaken Kundalini? No, there are lots of other techniques that work much better! But if you're into this sort of thing, by all means, kiss away:)
