That running move Tidus does in the dream sequence is seen earlier in the game, although you have to be watching for it.

After the part where Tidus is running along the road towards the Blitzball Stadium in Zanarkand (the part where the "radio" voice-over is heard), he ends up at the entrance to the Stadium. Normally, you have to push through the crowd. But if you don't push anything and watch Tidus' sprite as he just stands there, he does the running thing.

When I played this game I was twelve and it was spanking new, I got it from my parents like a summer vacation gift or something like that, so since I spent the summer swimming and surfing I felt really in tune with the general waterish atmosphere of this game.
