Wow they sound rlly good. I just came across them randomly after looking at info about Kensington on Wikipedia. I had to listen since i live on Kenny.
@ribs303 Great question. I reckon Shack were/are one of the best bands ever--they should have been massive. Really bad fortune indeed--same when the Head brothers were Pale Fountains. What is wrong with this world?
@bartonim: Heroin, thats what. Spoiled a career of many a talented musician. Streets of "Kenny", refers to the streets of Kensington, & not the posh one in London...but the run-down area here in Liverpool. The song is about trying to score heroin. Both brothers were addicted, Mick especially so. Both of them are formidable song writers, & from Waterpistol to The Strands, they have made some amazing music. Some of it is so good its just downright ridiculous : )
@daleksec54 Exactly the same! Heard it on Trigger Happy and could not find it for ages! Do you know what the sad/weird thing about that is?...I have actually seen them live when they supported The Who, and I didn't relize it until last week :( Truely great band.
I only know of this song through Trigger Happy TV,great tune as were most of the songs used to accompany the sketches in that show.Seemed to fit them perfectly every time...
...Shack should have been huge!! Great band with top tunes!! In the same vein as bands that came after and did well like Doves and Elbow!! Brilliant songwriting bands into making good fucking music, and not into image and fame!! Coldplay, oasis, keane, snow patrol all a bunch of useless bastards compered to Shack!!
...to be honest ive never rated oasis anyway, average 3 chord wonder pub rock band at best!! Even status quo were better then oasis!! Thats saying something. Still somehow they managed to convince a lot of people, god knows how? they are simply awful!!
@mjd775 Agreed!! This album was fuckin immense, full of quality song writing. Brilliant tunes!! Takes me back to the good fucking times before oasis, coldplay and total shite like keane!
@mjd775 totally agree with you m8. Should've been massive. In a selfish way though we get to keep them to ourselves. Remember how quickly Oasis went from being a well-kept secret for 1-2 months then every twat started to listen to them? Ruined it for me. Know good music should be shared and I've got the wrong attitude towards it but it's great to see people's faces light up when you play them a Shack song for the 1st time. Reckon the band like the position they're in anyway, no pressure.
@mjd775 I can't stand Elbow and can't understand their success, but i can see the comparison. Now whenever they come on I can come back to Shack and be happy.
the best band in the last 20 years

Shack are huge, dunno why people compare em to Oasis and feel that way
Shack are gonna live forever like some oasis songs and I predict Noel's first solo album.
however it is very poor that you cant get Magical World of The Strands in HMV, very poor indeed.
