God i think i remember seeing this band play in a parking lot of a record factory store in the mid/late 70's in mtn. view calif. can anyone else confirm this?? great show too. anyhow i love this song!
Rock On 1977rpearce! I was "Peaking" on my drum kit then at 16 in 76'...heard this and it blew my brain! then i sank into Tommy Aldridge & Neil Peart wave that passed...But today I'm back to ALL single action..left my DW5000 for a Pearl Eliminator and it gives me ALL I can put to it. For The Love Of PLAY....
@rickyon That's right, someone else told me he didn't use a double bass years ago. He is really fast, It sure sounds like he's using a double bass. Thanks for the enlightenment.
1976. I was 16. Yesterday & Today played a concert in our high school gym. Bought this album that night. Fell in love with live rock and roll that night too. Vinyl could never quite capture their live shows! Used to trek up to the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma to see these guys, too. Those were great days! Thanks rickyon
You're welcome and yes I've posted 5 or 6 more songs from their 1st 2 albums. Just use the search function on my channel or scroll down through my uploads. They are all awesome. Trust me!
I have the first two Yesterday and Today albums on vinyl..great and collectors items..love them still and seen them playing in Holland almost every year!
i'LL CONCUR WITH ALL THAT HAZE'S DRUMMING IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! HIS DRUM SOUND, THE WAY HE HIT, THE FEEL THE TIMING, I USED TO SIT UP THERE BEHIND HIM AT THE STARWOOD....MAN..HE WAS AWESOME! (AND EVERY ROCK DRUMMER IN HOLLYWOOD FELT THE SAME WAY BACK THEN!!!!)
A band called "Skeet Kelly" - Raleigh, NC -used to cover this song in the 80's. Did a heck of a job too. That band ROCKED ! Wonder what ever happened to them....
The first two albums were on London Records and probably have a different copyright owner than the newer albums. The owners don't know what they're missing by not re-releasing these two gems. They are by far my favorite Y&T albums!.....Rick
That would be great. I have the Mondo Records CD's from '92. I see they're still available on Amazon used for 40 to 50 bucks. I also still have the vinyl I bought back in the day . . .
The person who said this called the release "One/Two" and said it was on Mean Street Records. I've been looking and can't find it. Let me know if you find it!....Rick
@rickyon Dave re-released both of the Yesterday and Today albums last year on one cd under the One/Two title, you can get it at the Y&T website along with other remastered Y&T albums
This has always been my favorit y&t song Its hard to believe that leonard Haze is using a single base pedal if I had not seen it with my own eyes I would not have believed it. Istill have this on 8 track tape .This album came out in 1976 and I have been a fan ever sence thank you Jeff Wagner for turning me on to them, remember we saw them at Monte Vista high school in Coupertino ca. we were just a couple of punkass kids we both will be turning 50 this year love you bro keep on rockin Allan D
I'm a drummer too, well if I had a kit but what I find the most remarkable about the first 2 are the amazing guitar solos!! My heart plays too has a wicked cool solo too !!
I just love everything about those albums! The drums, guitars, bass and especially the writing. The words to this one were written by ole Thunderfoot himself! See I knew there was something not right about you and now I know ! You're a drummer too. We timekeepers have to stick together!....Rick
I'm a drummer so you can imagine one reason why I loved this lineup. But these guys also sounded unique. I guess it was a combination of Meniketti's vocals and guitar playing as well as Kennimore's bass lines. And of course no one has ever sounded like "Thunderfoot"!
Haze's drumming on the first 2 Yesterday & Today albums is the best in rock history in my opinion. Coincidently, I also like those 2 London records the best of their releases.
You're welcome. The fastest single bass drummer of his time I loved the sound of his drums! He also had a unique style with his short fills. I agree the first two London Records releases are the best and my favorite. I'm getting ready to post Dreams of Egypt. You should subscribe!
Thanks Gina, I always get a kick when I get a comment from a different country! How are things over there in Sweden. Isn't this internet a wonderful thing! I can see your a big Y&T fan. I've tried to post songs from their other albums but every one was rejected by the content owner. Evidently London Records or whoever owns the copyrights to the first two albums is ok with posting on you-tube so those are the only two that I can post from! Two really great albums though. Peace!...Rick
Yes, I love Y&T. A friend on youtube told me about Y&T, so internet is great. I wish I could upload songs from Earthshaker & Black tiger. I know they will "block" it, the same thing with Scorpions Lovedrive and other cds from the 80s with them...

This is Leonard "Thunderfoot" Haze and he played all this stuff on a single bass drum with a single pedal not a cheater pedal.

One my favorite solos ever.
