Interesting how Pink Floyd envisioned a fascist English state evolving after a brief period of chaos and anarchy...rings eerily prescient and foreboding right about now, in light of the recent unrest and riots.
@johnhenryhohandle There is YouTube video of "Nigel Farage", "haranguing the EU parliament", wherein Farage, an MP to the EU from England, warns the EU leadership that the way things are going, all that will be left is nationalism and violence.
Took me a good while too, i guess I was playing the role of the mad bugger with people banging their hearts on my wall, praying I would feel it and tear down the wall, now im trying to clean the mess up so I can bang my heart against some other people's walls
When I was little my dad would always say the lyrics up to "Pink isnt well he stayed back at the hotel". I always thought he was talking about the Pink Panther untill a few years ago...
Agreed, that2007. Yet between "See Emily Play" (1967) and "Another Brick in the Wall" (1980) they didn't have a hit single in the UK. Bubbling under in the nations consciousness for all those years.
Well, I'd also agree. But keep in mind, some of the best music out there is quite underground, and I guess discovering it is half the beauty of that music. If Pink Floyd had released "If" as their first international single, it would've been a hit, but I would feel stupid saying that Atom Heart Mother is one of my favourite albums. It's more special when no one knows what you're talking about.
@dizzyonefourfour Maybe no hit singles, but they had hit albums I mean Dark Side of the Moon was 1973 and that's the worlds third best selling album of all time. And don't forget the "Wish You Were Here", and "Animals" albums which are great too. Back in those days FM radio was new and AM radio only played pop shit with songs no longer than 4 minutes... Proggressive rock in general isn't exactly friendly to the pop music radio format. So it's not surprising they didn't have many singles.
I could never really get into The Beatles. When I listen to their music, it's not very magical. I think they were making the right music at the right time. I appreciate their music, but I don't love their music.
this song is "in the flesh?" (the first one) this person just made a different video. seriously, i feel like im the only one who knows anything about this band
you think you know everything? cause i saw your other comment in "one of my turns". i also noticed this isnt "in the flesh?" cause this video is different
well that depends on if you are havingan intelligent debate/discussion or a pointless excuse to throw around a few curse words to make yourself look tough. I support intelligent debate, it's one of the many things making us human,
The first one is on the first disc. How do I know? It's the first track. Ripped it directly from CD man. Did not rip the other one because it was racist. I have only one of them, it's this one. I know what song I put in there.
It's ironicle rascism, like in saying something to mean the opposite? Btw, the 1st song is 'In The Flesh?', the 2nd one is 'In The Flesh'. The first wall cd, is basicly an intro to the 2nd one ;)
Yes the first song on the album is In The Flesh? (with a question mark)...the 2nd version of it on the album (with the "Are there any queers" line) doesn't have a question mark in the title.
No. This is the first track on the album. In The Flesh is its sequel, though they sound alike they are not the same thing. I know because I ripped this directly from an official copy of The Wall I bought at a music store.
I know how you feel, it's a master piece. My favourite part is at 19:10 - 23:44, the end. I think that it ended magnificently, powerfully, and by the end people were amazed at Pink Floyd's power to put that emphasis on a song. Perfect demonstration of how Pink Floyd is the most amazing band of all time.
Mother, my radio station always played Mother, so I was very fond of it. Umm...my favourite song ever, Atom Heart Mother, the first time I listened to it I was waiting very intently for it to finally end. Now I'm sad when it ends.
this is in the flesh? ,lol but who cares ,it symbolizes the shows that's why they are several in the album ,remember? in comfortably numb "...goin thru the show ,come on it's time to go..."then the show must go on n in the flesh?
Yeah you're right. I just saw the footage and completely ignored the lyrics. After I finally realized that it was in In The Flesh(?) I tried typing out an apology message but my computer died on me.
