Our government is a wicked, vile instrument of U.S. colonial ambitions. AND I`m not talking about the P.C.`s. There`s no party in our great nation that is representative "of the people"
WHO IS PUTTING OUR TROOPS INTO DANGER?? SURELY NOT THE PEOPLE WHO ADVOCATE BRINGING THEM HOME!!!
It is the Govt of CANADA!! Only about 4 or 5 out of 30+ Nato countries are willing to follow the USA in this war and occupation!!
If we want to RECONSTRUCT AFGHANISTAN stop killing the bloody peasants who are mad at seeing their only cash crop POPPY being wantonly destroyed. Give them money and materials -not bombs, shells and agent Orange spraying!!!
Thank you. Many youth have been hoodwinked into thinking this is an altruistic mission. I wish it were for rebuilding....BUT it really is about military contracts for friends of the Tory's and the gas pipeline thru the Kandahar region...more contracts for US, UK and Canadian corporations.I loved my country's peaceloving, peacekeeping reputation..we're " peeing it away"...I feel for the troops and the families..I believe that those who really care support bringing them home.
Educate yourself. The peacekeeping reputation has been a farce since it was created in 1956. Read a book on our Canadian Miliatry Heritage. Try to understand what the role of our military and stop being "hoodwinked" into ever believing that we have always been "peacekeepers"
Dude, if you want to "give your friends money", there's a lot easier ways to do it than mobilize and army and send it half-way around the world. Like, for example, just pitch them some fat advertising contracts. Get real, moron.
Sometimes you have to show your commitment and compassion, so that the people know you will not run out on them, and leave them at the mercy of people who would exploit them. We are currently doing this. If we leave now, before they are ready, we risk becomming another in a long line of people who do not care about Afghanistan. As a Canadian, I will not let these people down, if it takes my life to help them.
We cannot control Afghanistan by military force alone, war/druglords control vast regions. They have for years. We cannot change this overnight. Therefore we deal. They are a hard people, a proud people, and honourable people that have the potential to be great. As a local friend of mine said after someone blew up some friends of mine, with his eyes welling up with emotion, "These people are not Afghani, they do not care about Afghanistan. Thank you for being here".
Shame on you. I understand your resistance to your son's deployment, it was hard for my family as well when I went. I am going back and I haven't told my mother yet so that she won't worry... I know what you and yours feel. I also know the parents in Afghanistan who thanked me for giving up my security and luxuries (they know of Canada) to help them obtain basic freedoms.
I have been to 9 different countries in this world and I have seen an incredible amount of corruption on several levels of business and politics. The biggest money maker in this world is war, so is this why Canadian government is following in the footsteps of the US government? Why does North America want to concentrate their military in the Middle East? Are guns the answer, or is education?
Fight with the Canadian forces?, get real, what happened to peace keeping?
We above all others "question authority", our lives are the ones we are risking. We decide if the reasons are right. I don't know if the reasons this was all started are the right ones. I do know that if people like your son and myself do not give up the luxuries we have to temporarily help those who cannot help themselves, no one will. We will sit here and get fat drinking our coffee and eating doughnuts and say "someone should help those people".
I'm not talking Bush's ideas of freedom, I hate him too. Realize the reality of the present situation there. Try and think of what would be best for the people. Regardless of politics, WE ARE DOING GOOD THERE. The first things we were issued were books on Afghanistan, and I learned more about the innerworkings of Afghani society that I ever thought was possible. We are not ignorant.
Disgracefull, you have no pride or will for canada, its sad, as a member of CSIS this is just sick, you have no respect for me or the job that we did thier, ur sick
Saskdevil, you're a disgrace, and so is you're spelling. I don't believe you're a member of CSIS either: They don't hire illiterates, and they certainly don't hire or keep people with no respect for free speech and such an extremist view of the world.
CSIS is a facist organization, just like the CIA. End imperalism.

Saskdevil, fuck off you poser.
If you were a member of CSIS, you would have read "CANFORGEN 136/06: Guidance on blogs and other Internet Communications."
And I'm not sure if I should respect "ur" job with grammar like that.

There are bigger issues to fight in your own country.
Try not letting your parents down.
Do you have a mother?

Combat evolves. Peace Keeping Evolves. Afghanistan is in Central Asia not the Middle East.

Then you read about the fact that Afghanis testest foreign presence, that NO force has defeated the Afghanis including the Soviet Union.
Canada can make a difference but at what price this is not our war. we are being set up for a larger conflict.
