Young brings great vibrato out of that SG, but beyond that he's not too crazy. AC/DC is very straightforward hard rock, not much in the way of frills.
Another note: is playing lots of notes really what makes a guitarist great? Listen to David Gilmour. Guy doesn't play really fast, but it sure moves you. Or listen to Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue." Davis has the smooth melodic awesomeness on the trumpet, and the john Coltrane ruins it with his tons of notes. Artistry > speed.

@carychilton - You, sir, are right on the money with this comment. The gain factor of Angus' rig is leaps and bounds lower than any modern rig that most young people or metalheads would use. This requires a great deal more strength, expression and attack to 'create' overdrive. Most of the sweepers and shredders of today play with a ton of saturated pre gain and spike the presence to create the illusion of attack. Angus Young with his JTM45s couldn't do this. Thus it's warm and soulful.

@knighty1964 Thanks! I have 2 vintage amps like the ones Angus used to use so I have first hand experience. I can say that with his guitar and setting, the feel of the guitar would be as difficult as shreddin on acoustic guitar. So naturally that slows your speed, playing that hard. When I shred out on my acoustic, I can usually play 15% fast on my electric with the same licks.
He's so underrated... The greatest entertainer, one of the best guitarists in rock history, the force of nature all in one person. There's no one, and i mean NO ONE like him!

If you are into a lot of solo stuff and like playing with a whammy bar, then you can´t go wrong with ibanez. Just listen to Andy timmons, Steve Vai or Joe Satriani, Not really a lack of tone there. Especially Andy. Just listen to the tone on his Resolution album. Quite magnificent in my ears.

As long as we have have a free and individually unique mind, then we will always have different preferences. Especially within music and art, as everyone percepts it differently. @carychilton I agree. If no one see's it, all of angus's solos are are all from the roots of the blues. He just hits the strings harder and has the amp up. Angus Is God. I could of burned a t-shirt that i saw. it said AC/DC the best heavy metal band ever. Disgusting, just disgusting...

@carychilton - You, sir, are right on the money with this comment. The gain factor of Angus' rig is leaps and bounds lower than any modern rig that most young people or metalheads would use. This requires a great deal more strength, expression and attack to 'create' overdrive. Most of the sweepers and shredders of today play with a ton of saturated pre gain and spike the presence to create the illusion of attack. Angus Young with his JTM45s couldn't do this. Thus it's warm and soulful.

@knighty1964 Thanks! I have 2 vintage amps like the ones Angus used to use so I have first hand experience. I can say that with his guitar and setting, the feel of the guitar would be as difficult as shreddin on acoustic guitar. So naturally that slows your speed, playing that hard. When I shred out on my acoustic, I can usually play 15% fast on my electric with the same licks.

The funny thing is if you study Angus enough, you notice he throws in a classical piece every now and then. He's alot better than people give him credit for. And he rocks like no one else, Rock On Angus!

It was just my beginning guitar. Is has not been played for like 4 years. I kind of wish i could sell it, but i think its sentimental value is higher than its marked value. It´s hard to give away the thing that started everything.

By the way. There is nothing wrong with Ibanez. Not my brand really, but it has it´s place in the music industry. If you are into a lot of solo stuff and like playing with a whammy bar, then you can´t go wrong with ibanez. Just listen to Andy timmons, Steve Vai or Joe Satriani, Not really a lack of tone there. Especially Andy. Just listen to the tone on his Resolution album. Quite magnificent in my ears.

Yeah, totally man! I completely understand. I was just flicking you some shit. I've been spinning for 14 years and I still have the turntables ( Numarks ) I first started out with. I have Technics, but I just cant seem to bring myself to sell my Numarks. Ibanez is not a wipe your ass with brand..You get a great piece of equipment at a fair price. Great for beginners.

That might so according to your personal preferance, but you should not state it as an unquestionable fact.There´s probably is no such thing as the worlds best guitarist. As long as we have have a free and individually unique mind, then we will always have different preferences. Especially within music and art, as everyone percepts it differently. And that's whats so great about it.
Knowing that two people can listen to the exact same thing, and still react, hear and feel something unique.
