@surfstomp um......I've learned it. This was 2 years ago. I've played it with TE and received his stamp of approval! I rarely use tab and have never been able to get Ultimate guitar to load on my Mac anyway.
@forbebe I used his Up Close DVD to get me started and then watched his Budapest performance to get more. Then a lesson with him at a meet and greet. He's amazing! Thanks!
@rrrrockin Look for "the Art of Ragtime Guitar". If you can still get the book, it walks you through the 7 pieces of Richard Saslow. I know you can find the PDF files online. Hope this helps! Thanks for the sub! Cheers, BB
@crystalceline I didn't use tabs or a book. I watched his teaching video and then picked up bits and pieces from watching his Budapest performance. I learn mostly by ear and watching.

What beautiful playing! This is my first time hearing you, Bunny and I must say that I'm sorry I hadn't discovered you earlier. Many years ago when Richard Saslow's book first came out I bought one and learned "Bloozinay." But my guitar playing was interrupted by a nasty divorce. Your posts have made me want to pick up the guitar and finish the book. Thanks so much.
@freddiemesquit1 Thanks so much, Freddie! I learned Saslow's pieces also back in the 70's, but haven't yet relearned them all. Just a matter of time. Life just gets in the way sometimes, eh? Hearing comments from folks that they enjoy what I do, inspires me to want to learn more and post more! It's only a hobby, but it's most definitely my passion! Thanks again!
@guitarflo123 Thanks, Florian! Guess it depends on which night he plays it!! I played Questions and Ruby's Eyes for him 3 days ago and he said I had them 90%! I'm going to his guitar camp in 3 weeks. He's such an amazing inspiration! Nice to meet other Tommy absolute fans!! Keep on picking! Cheers, Bunny
@forbebe Hi Bunny. Thanks for watching my video. You´re lucky to be in the guitar camp. About Tommy, I´ve met him in a concert in Portugal. In the autograph session i offerd him a CD of Carlos Paredes (the most known Portuguese guitar player), and some days after, Tommy telephoned me to say he liked it and to thank. He´s really nice!!
By the way portuguese guitar is a diferent kind of instrument most known in Fado music, it has a very nice sound.
@filipefra Yup......the nicest guy on earth! Thanks for the tip on Portuguese guitar and Carlos. He's amazing. Reminds me some of Flamenco. Good to know you! cheers, Bunny

@Lund1961 Hi Börje! Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I truly appreciate it. Thanks, too, for subscribing to my page! I hope to be able to get another tune recorded in the next month or two! Thanks again! Cheers, Bunny
@guitarkis49 Thanks so much! Coming from a fellow guitarists makes the comment even more. I try to emulate Tommy, as when I watch him, he makes me happy. I try to do that for others. Hard to smile and play! I've played for him a few times. You'll see him in Maine? Will you play for him? Cheers, BB
@MsSlowTurtle1 Vielen Dank!!
Mucis comes from your soul! Alter ist nur in den Gedanken. Ich bin auch älter dan man glaubt! Schöne Grüße, Bunny
@GherkinGob Thanks so much for the feedback It's always nice to hear. It's a tough tune, but so rewarding once you get it down. Just needs time! I appreciate contact from across the pond!! Thanks again! Cheers, BB
OmidearGod a Gibson j-50. I bought my J-45 in 1964 partly because a high school friend of mine had a j-50, which was just toooo good after my learning on a $20 Stella, which was basically a orange crate with strings.
I really like the way you play this, I feel somehow you have captured Tommy's spirit in your performance, Fantastic, I've been learning to play this myself but had hit a bit of a brick wall with the difficulty of his arrangement, But seeing your video has inspired me to carry on until i get it, Thanks.
Thanks so much, Paul. That means so much to me, because that's exactly what I wanted to do! TE was so kind to spend time with me showing me different sections. I spent hours in front of YouTube with pause and play! I know that brick wall! I hit that wall every time I learn a new Tommy tune!! Thanks again! Cheers, Bunny
Hi Bunny, thats pritty hard to do ,and yes you can do it my compliments,Bunny watch my La Vie En Rose, its a piece in Jazz and Atkins style,I hope you like it,greets all the way from the Netherlands Kees Nipius.
Hi Bunny -Great playing- really enjoyed it- well done. Question- are you self taught or did you get lessons, if so in what style (classical?)- also , did you work out the arrangement yourself or find tabs??
I thought I answered this, but it never registered. Thank you so much! I'm mostly self taught. My brother started me with folk picking when I was 15. I figured out the arrangement from Tommy's Up Close video. For some parts I watch the Budapest performance hundreds of times and used the pause a lot!! A friend figured out one riff for me. I played it for Tommy twice. Both times he gave me help and I corrected it. He's just WONderful!! Thanks again! Cheers, Bunny
I like this slower version, you play it very good, I love the little flicks you have put in. I too have had a chat with Tommy and seen him in concert about 7 times, he is brilliant.
Your Blue Moon is mighty fine, Russell, and I absolutely adore Fly Me To the Moon. Brilliant arrangement with the walking bass. Yup. Tommy is my inspiration and the most amazing person I've ever met. A true virtuoso and so humble too. Thanks for your comments! Cheers, Bunny
You are wonderful. This cover is better than many other young people covers. You've done a good work with this song and I see you love what you're playing. It's funny too. You're special. Kisses.
Hi! Thank you so much! It means a lot coming from someone who plays "Since we met" so well. I read your profile and Tommy did the same thing for me....changed my life! I try to do what he does. He always looks like he's enjoying his music and makes me happy to watch him. It's hard to do while you're playing. I see from your smile at the end and can tell from the way you play that you do too!! I also met Daniele last summer. He's pretty special too! Thanks! Keep pickin'! Cheers, Bunny
Thanks so much!! Coming from someone who is also trying to play Tommy's tunes, it means a lot. He is also my inspiration. I wouldn't be playing the things I am today without his encouragement. Have you seen him on his recent trip to Europe? Keep on picking!! Cheers, Bunny
Thanks so much!! Would love to hear you also! Will you get to see Tommy play it at some point? Is he playing somewhere near you? He's the best there is!!! I appreciate you commenting and rating! Cheers, BB
You do not want to hear it yet: it is really rudimentary - as soon as it will be slightly presentable I shall be posting it :-) TE is not comingg to Switzerland anytime soon - the moment he will, I will be running to see him! In any case, the way you play blue moon is really good - I know how difficult it is!
I look forward to hearing it allsop. With TE as your inspiration, I know you will be playing it soon! Can't you drive to Italy or France? He's coming there soon!! I have driven 2-3 hours to see him in concert. He's just amazing live. Nothing like it! You must go!!! Thanks again. BB
Thanks soooooo much! You made my week! It's amazing to me that someone in Albania can hear me playing Tommy's version of Blue Moon. I couldn't have done it without his inspiration! He's such an amazing player and person!! Thanks again! bb
Thank you sooooo much for your comment! You made my week! It's awesome to think people all over the world can watch me play Tommy's tunes. He's such an inspiration and such an incredible virtuoso! Thanks! bb

Cheers, BB

@MsSlowTurtle1 Vielen Dank!!

Mucis comes from your soul! Alter ist nur in den Gedanken. Ich bin auch älter dan man glaubt! Schöne Grüße, Bunny

Well Ill be darned. Its not a j-50. It is a bit smaller now that I look more closely.
saullouis 1 year ago
OmidearGod a Gibson j-50. I bought my J-45 in 1964 partly because a high school friend of mine had a j-50, which was just toooo good after my learning on a $20 Stella, which was basically a orange crate with strings.

I really like the way you play this, I feel somehow you have captured Tommy's spirit in your performance, Fantastic, I've been learning to play this myself but had hit a bit of a brick wall with the difficulty of his arrangement, But seeing your video has inspired me to carry on until i get it, Thanks.
pauljannone123 2 years ago

Question- are you self taught or did you get lessons, if so in what style (classical?)- also , did you work out the arrangement yourself or find tabs??
martyjarvis 2 years ago
Marty,
I thought I answered this, but it never registered.

Wowowow! I am learning it too and I hope to get there! In any case: you just play it great!

Thanks so much!! Would love to hear you also! Will you get to see Tommy play it at some point? Is he playing somewhere near you? He's the best there is!!! I appreciate you commenting and rating! Cheers, BB
forbebe 2 years ago

BB
