The Whole "Activating Combat Mode" And "Conflict Resoled" Seem like they would get anoying.

You probably haven't played MMOs for very long. Imagine that whenever you initiated a new battle, you'd have to wait for the screen to do a wipe and then watch as the camera pans around the monster you're getting ready to fight. Then imagine the camera switches to your character(s) as they do some battle pose. NOW the battle begins. You use a normal attack and the monster dies. Now you get to see your character(s) do their victory pose as experience and loot are collected.
