  • you're lucky you don't look Japanese so you walking around eating is somewhat understandable XD i never knew walking and eating wasn't polite in Japan, I'm half Jap and I always eat and walk when I'm there...

  • WAIT!! SO THEY DON'T HAVE WALKING TACOS IN JAPAN??!!!??!?!?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Something else besides from kit kat?

  • you wrote japanese snack attack and you should correct it to weird kitkat favours

  • they sell KitKat in sweden

  • i just started watching these videos very informative i bet you miss the states love to live in japan looks very clean

  • Aww yeah.

I managed to get hold of some imported japanese kit-kats on ebay and they were awesome.

  • what i learned from this video : when you dont like the way something tastes, always take another bite.

    PS: japanese love kit-kats

  • My Japanese penpal sent me a little snack thing for my birthday in Feb, and in it were 4 different kinds of chocolate. One was green, and I didn't know what flavor it was (I didn't know what flavor any of them were, and I to figure out each one by taste). The green one was green tea, and it was quite delicious, and I'd eat it again. :D

  • What are you talking about?! The Muscat is delicious!!!

  • Lol cunt (person under me)

  • CUNT

  • If its not good why did you take another bite?

  • Hello thumb!

  • *bite* oh wow... it's not good... oh... *takes another bite* hahaha

  • NO WONDER PEOPLE BUY THEIR FOOD FROM A VENDING MACHINE AND THEN WAIT!!!!

  • he said not good but still he ate it ahaha

  • I tried wasabi and cheesecake flavors :D

  • interesting. id had a regular kitkat, but the taste was much less sweet that i was used to, perhaps adapted to the local market. that or everything in the US is just oversweetened haha

  • Hello Busan Kevin

Do you know any websites to buy japanese candy on ??

  • have to tried the green tae kit kat?

  • Do they have Beef Noodle flavored Kit-Kat?

  • japanese people sure likes kitkat..

  • That was funny! The look on your face after trying KK candy bar #2! :o)

  • Do you miss a regular kit kat bar from the states?...

  • note to self, when in japan, dont get the moscat of alexandria kitkat

  • correction, "AZUKI" is not "sweet bean". AZUKI is a kind of bean (red bean? I don't know). the thing you are thinking about is "ANNKO" which is a sweet product made with "AZUKI" and sugar. Though, I"m just being a smart ass. everyone in Japan would understand what you mean.

  • The raspberry flavor is amazing. I have no idea why they don't sell it in the US

  • 115 kals for a chocolate bar fuck yeah:D

  • I once visited Japan and tried a Wasabi flavoured Kit Kat. It was quite nice.

  • Hmmm...Now, let's see if I'm understanding this correctly: We're talking about a country that has food and beverage vending machines practically every five feet in any direction, yet, it's considered rude to eat or drink while walking down the street? A strange dichotomy, indeed. BTW: Great vid. ***** (5 stars)

  • omg! houjicha kitkat!!!!

  • I hope you save those packages. They're probably worth something on eBay for collectors. I usually bring back some of the unusual Coke and Pepsi cans for sale.

  • I wish they had these in America

  • *takes a bite* ew this is not good at all

*takes another bite* This is just plain horrible

*takes yet another bite* This is abosolutly discuting

If it's so gross why do you keep eating it? haha

  • wow, grape, "cha", green tea, sweet bean, sweet potato, vanilla.-Those oriental types sure love their kitkats :D

  • in the Netherlands we have only normal and white kitkat i think, pretty boring.

    I want tea KitKat! :(

You got yourself a new subscriber :) .

  • Its so sexual when you eat that kit kat. That looks fucking delicious!!!!!!

but im fat and im on a diet so i cant eat that shit.

    fuck.

  • I love this detailed stuff. I love tours of institutions and how they differ from our places. The food discrepancies fascinate me!

Muscat is sour grape flavour. I love their candy flavoured that way.

  • i want the azuki flavoured one~!! i love anything azuki~!!!

  • I would like to try the strawberry flavored one.

  • I agree with 大納言あずき better than others.

  • dude i tried a wasabi flavored kit kat once, because i mistaken it for green tea. It tasted so baaddd.

  • Does't Amerians have fish in their house?

  • Wine flavored Kit Kats... Wow. :D

  • The most delicious snack in the video were the fish at the end lol

  • Muscat of alexandria.....hahahahaha...I wouldn't taste that before going to a dentist and have my mouth filled with cement!!! Muscat grapes are used for very very sweet dessert wines...cover that up with white chocolate and your bound to leave a trail of teath.....

  • break me a piece of that kitkat bar

  • I WANT TO EAT IT!

  • Say, do you know where I could pick up some Calpis flavored Kitkat? I'm in love with that drink, but I can't seem to find the Kitkats anywhere...

  • that's pretty cool when you see a western world candy get multiple makeovers of flavor!! Japan is awesome at doing that!! one point for them for being so overly creative and kudos to you for sharing!!

  • i dont understand why kitkat obsessed with making this variety flavored...

  • Muscat Is Pronounces Mooskat

  • ohh i love this country

  • ive seen some wasabe flavored kitkat's but i didnt have enough money to buy them, have you tried them?

  • pure shit

  • i like your idea with the video!!! very intresting experiment =) :)

  • screw that, i'd still walk around eating. i'd love all the weird stares.

  • LOL, fear the Japanese food as well as respect it. They have a lot of stuff that are great but they also have some of the strangest foods... like cheese drinks.

  • It sucks that Nestle doesnt make all of the kitkats for all of the countrys. all us americans have is the Hersheys company who makes kitkats in only 2 flavors since theyre too lazy to make more!

  • did you ever get a chance to try the matcha kitkat? i fell in love with them when I was in Japan but can't find them anywhere in North America... thanks for the comparison vid - i'll be looking for the redbean flavour!

  • Yes, I did try the matcha flavour and really liked it. i saw it recently at a gift shop in Kyoto. I didn't buy any though.

  • @BusanKevin the custard kitkat is so good.

  • woooo !! find some japanese chix dude !!

  • roasted tea kit-kat? Sounds kinda good.

  • Glad I watched this, now I know not to eat while walking in Japan. ;D I'd so try those kitkats!

  • It is interesting.

There is the one to hold Japan in derision in the inside though the number of contribution videos in which Japan is assumed to be a theme has increased, too.

However, I like videos intellectually contributed like you.

    Do you live in Japan?

    bye.

  • I am happy you enjoyed my video. Yes I do. i live in Kobe, Japan :) It is a beautiful city!

  • theres alot of japanese korean words that sound the same, and mean the same... for example:

  • uso! hoji cha?? ew.. does it taste good??

  • the hoji cha Kit Kat was actually really good :)

  • doesn't "cha" also mean "tea" in Korean?

  • "Cha" pretty much means "tea" in Asia.

  • yes it does :)

  • @BusanKevin acullay its ko cha im japanesse so im just saying

  • @supatoker420

In russian tea sounds like chai (чай).

  • @IbrownrussianbearI thats cool! how do neo nazis say it?

  • @supatoker420

What do you mean by "how do neo nazis say it"??

  • @IbrownrussianbearI skinheads who love to kill people.

  • @supatoker420

xD seemingly u've oversmoked MJ... WTF you ask me how skinheads say "tea"?? I am not neo nazi...

  • @IbrownrussianbearI yep, i over smoked.

  • @supatoker420 it also means tea in chinese

  • @supatoker420 acullay tea means ko cha im japanesse just saying

  • i love your videos, keep on doing what you're doing!

  • I've had the Muscat Kit Kats... they're goooood, despite what you say :3

(but then, to each their own)

  • of course....we all have different tastes. Obviously they make them for a reason (a lot of people must like them)!

    Thanks for watching :)

  • 3:40. Food does not have the crime.

    Why fling the food.....? ;_;

  • Comment removed

  • or a green tea mars bar?

  • Interesting video. I wonder if there is sushi flavored kit-kats?

  • In a country with such perfect walk-and-eat foods I feel it justified--nay, my duty--to stroll around Nagoya munching on onigiri.

  • I think you should post a video of all the socially unacceptable things to NOT do in japan hehe. I've been really wondering, just so I don't make a fool of myself while I'm there hehe.

  • Been here a year and am still breaking rules and learning new ones all the time! It's not so easy! I might make some vids about that soon...good idea :)

  • Another great video Kevin Teacher!

    Bravo.

You are a brave man for eating those interesting kit kat bars. I'm not sure I could muster that kinda fortitude.

I've never had anything made with sweet bean paste. Could you put up an azuki video?

  • Kevin, you're a potential Matt Laurer stand in. Very funny video. Love the KitKat varieties. Also love the various strange Pocky flavors that are available in Japan, which my students bring back to the states all the time (eg Men's Pocky, Matcha, etc). Very good piece!

  • There is such an amazing variety of snack here and the Japanese certainly enjoy experimenting with different (sometimes odd) flavor combinations! It's great :)

  • I live in japan too

but i hate kit kat but japanese food,

    snacks is really awesome!!

  • I can't believe you didn't like the white grape kit kat! Some of my favorites in the past have been the an nin almond dofu, caramel pudding, sakura cherry blossom, chestnut (white,) watermelon, mango, and mikan flavors. Some of the stranger flavors are soy sauce, roasted corn, baked potato, and of course the several green tea variations they release every year, that just taste like wheatgrass. The latest is a white chocolate 'espresso coffee' version. Try some Koala's March next =P

  • I really like the espresso one...that's just plain good. Haven't seen this Koala's March one you speak of!

  • Hahaha, i luv your fish^^ So adorable!

I really wanna try those snacks..

  • Oh cool your fish are alive. I was watching the video when you first run your marathon and you said your fish were sleeping...to me it looked like they were floating upside down. x.x

  • Yep...they are alive and well....stronger and more "genki" than ever! :)

  • Yeah. I had that problem in Japan. I had to time when I can eat. Usually when I am waiting for a train (bad news in Japan, especially in Tokyo.. some lines come so fast, it is hard to get one bento or onagari in before the next train comes)

  • SCAT? haha

  • i love your vids wouldend mind trying some of them kit kats my self lol :)

  • Thanks for watching! It's a gamble...sometimes they're good...sometimes not!

  • lol thry look good

  • Walking and eating in Korea is no problem...everyone does it! My AE polo...bought it in Canada. AE stores are everywhere in Canada. The Grape KitKat was aweful...other one was ok!

  • I enjoyed watching you test out those KitKats! So the grape one was awful, eh? As we can see, it was written all over your face that it was nasty, hahahaahh! I am hoping you've got more videos similar to this--I am interested in Japan and it's culture, etiquette, quirkiness, etc. Are there other weird candy bars? Like is there a vanilla Snickers or something? I find it all SO interesting! Thanks for sharing.

  • glad you liked it so much. I just made another one...sweet potato kit kat!

  • i wish i could taste those japanese kitkats aswell! they have so many different flavors in japan. please send me some, hehe :D

  • No acting there at all! that was a real and pure reaction!

  • the green tea, apple, chestnut, and Hokkaido white chocolate kit kats are all great!

  • I really wanna try the Chestnut one. I haven't seen it.

  • I think Muscat is pronounced "moosecat" which is the same way to pronounce the capital of Oman. But it could be something else.

  • Thanks! I honestly had no idea....a "phonetic leap" so to speak!

  • Thanx :)

  • oh,i am japanese. But i didnt eat houzi tea kitcut.thier kitcuts are very rarely,,,

  • Try the houzi tea one...it's nice :)

  • When I was in Japan, my favourite one was sakura :-D

  • SOunds like a good idea! I'll send a messgae to tokyocooney and see if he's up for it! Or at least if Kenji is ;)

  • White Pepsi????? I didn't see that one in stores! Eeekk...sounds frightening. I'll look forward to your vid about that one....I dare not try it :)

  • I just picked up some White Pepsi - yogurt flavored Pepsi which I'll include in an upcoming vlog. I love the seasonal Kit Kats - white cream from Hokkaido being my favorite.

  • There should be only 1 flavor of Kit Kat lol

  • I agree....original flavor!

  • your videos never fail to amuse me! hahaha your face when you were eating the grapey one was priceless xD

  • hehe...yep....no acting there at all...it tastes like it looks!

  • Very interesting!! :D

  • Cool! Thanks :)

  • I think the 'no-eating-while-walking' taboo is largely unknown city-goers under 30... I have talked to my students here in Osaka, most of whom protest that they have never heard of that proscription. The mean streets of Umeda and Namba seem to bare this out. Yet when I lived in smaller cities, I rarely saw anyone (but me) eating while walking...

  • That makes a lot of sense. I no longer feel as guilty about breaking Japanese cultural rules...since they seem to be mainly seem to be observed by folks older than me....

    Rock on PJ....YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol, so does this faux pas also apply to chewing gum or drinking while walking?

  • The drinking thing yes.....at least around these parts....mind you, I see more and more 20 something folks and younger drinking coffee and whatnot....and me of course :)

  • I just found Yuzu flavor this morning. I don't know how you call those fruite in English. Could be citron?

  • Not sure. I'll be keeping an eye out for that flavour as well as others too!

  • Yay for Kenji! What'd you name your fish...? Very interesting Japan's candy flavors are. When I end up getting over there i may end up collecting those interesting packages. They look like a great little gift for someone back in the States.

  • They definitely make great gifts and conversation pieces. My family was just here from Canada and brought back lots of little things like that! :)

  • everything has sweet bean paste in Japan...lol

..not that thats a bad thing..

  • It's true, a lot of things do use sweet bean paste. I really like the stuff luckily!

  • Ha ha, thanks for sharing. :D

    That grape KitKat looked gross!

  • Yeah.....it was. After watching the vid, Daichen went and bought one and tried it too!He agreed with me.

  • why is the kitkat so small

  • The first one came in a bag of about 20. Similar to the packages that come out in the States or Canada around Halloween. it was a Halloween sized one....even though there isn't Halloween here...I suppose in Japan it is just a "bite size"??

  • Remember, if you really want to squat like a local, you need to keep your heels on the ground as well. You'll be considered a true "yankee" then!

my dictionary has ほうじ茶 = roasted green tea, which doesn't sound half bad for a Kit Kat. Muscat (a grape variety), not so much!

Show more unique snacks when you get the chance.

  • Hey there. I did realize that I needed my heels on the ground. People squat like that in Korea too, and with their butts about 1cm off the ground.....very flexible. I'm not! :) hehe...I didn't even want to try.

I'll try to grab more....I have noticed that many people do the snack vid thing though. I suppose I'll have to do more research first and make sure I'm not doing something that has already been done. How are things ? Hope you're well :)

  • Men's Pocky. 'nuff said.

Ah yeah you got the Azuki after myargonauts profiled them?

While you're walking? Did not hear that one. I see plenty of folks around here walking and eating anyways, so I do as the Romans.

  • Didn't see that MyArgonauts vid. Hmmmmm.

Maybe it's a Kansai thingy. I've had a lot of people tell me that. One time I was even on a field trip with my school and some of the Japanese support staff got all in a tizzy when I started to eat crackers. they told me I had to sit down first!!! weird.

  • i always thought that "Japanese tongue" referred to speech apparently they like strange flavours.

you should have changed your shirt for each kitkat tasting just for fun.

  • Good idea....I suppose it would have given a little more "flavour" to the vid...

Do you have any interest in trying one of the kit kats I tried?? :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • i don't eat candy for the same reason i don't drink soft drinks.

  • I'm eating a bag of cherry sours.

  • i just had a cupcake given to me from a student, it was coffee flavoured not grape or polar bear or anything weird. i can eat pastries but candy and soft drinks; nope because my dad's a dentist so i just never had that stuff and even now the influence has not worn off, i need my teeth for eating meat.

  • Yea, my teeth have seen better days. I'm going to regret some of my habits later on.

  • I am sooooo going to make a video response to this..... Very very curious .......

  • Sweet! Please do :)

  • It's interesting how other cultures view eating. While in Amsterdam I got something to eat and took it outside. I sat in some ally way to eat and this guy started to point at me and laugh. I didn't really know what to do so I pointed back and started laughing and then he got upset. Interesting, no? Oh and thanks for taking that second bite of Alexandrea in attemptz to better deacribe it. Your sacrifice is appiciated.

  • You're welcome. I wasn't really sure if it was as terrible as I thought. I needed a second bite to truly re-enforce the nastiness and like you said...describe it better. I'll do anything for my viewers...walk on fire, bite the head off a live cobra....even take a second bit of a "Muscat of Alexandria" Kit Kat!

  • If you really loved us you would eat the snake ice cream.

  • hehe...TokyoCooney did such a great job of that one.....maybe I can find something else gross to eat!

  • Yes its really hit and miss with the kit kats. Stay well clear of water mellon, kiwi, and strawberry!

  • I saw the watermelon ones in the supermarket this summer, but wasn't brave enough to try :) Sounds like I made a wise decision!

  • They are hideous! I love watermelon and they did smell and taste watermelon like, but in kit kat form its just wrong! Banana and chocolate was surprisingly good.

  • I can imagine banana and chocolate being good. Wish there was a banana/peanut butter kitkat...I'd love that combo!

  • Interesting! We've always got Kit-Kat here in our household in Japan but always the standard type.

  • I love the standard type. You should pick up a bag of the hojicha ones...they were pretty good!

Have you started training for Tokyo yet? I start training again next week...have a brutal cold at the moment.

  • Does that mean no beer?

  • hehe...there's always room for beer in the initial stages of my training. I only stop drinking in the last 4 weeks or so! Have no fear :)

  • The Muscat of Alexandria is a white wine grape. Did it taste a bit like wine?

  • Hmm.. omoshiroi.. Because the Japanese word for tea, if it is indeed "cha", may have some roots in the Indian Subcontinent, where we call it "Cha" in Punjabi and "Chaye" in Urdu and Hindi. Or it could be the other way round. I'll ask Victor if he knows something about this.. he is, after all, the sensei! very cool video man! :)

  • Thanks a lot! Glad you liked the vid. Tea called "cha" in Korea as well. I'm not sure about the origins of the word....good idea to ask Victor.

  • Nice vid very informing. Now if I visit japan ill know to to eat on the go o.o?!

  • not to eat*

  • I have noticed that many younger people (teens/20's ) seem to eat while on the move.
