@DonMacavele Keep in mind that by season 3, the Sing-Off has much better producing capabilities. Also, the Aires have so many more members to help just fill the sound out. I thought this guy did a better performance than Michael, though I was never really a fan of him to begin with.
I watched darmouth before this one and I know this group did well, BUT compared to the darmouth version the darmouth one kicks this one out cuz it's tht good. And their singer was better (darmouth)
SoCals did do well here though not as spectacular as their performance as "SoCal Vocals" for 2008 ICCA West Semi-finals; this small group version wasn't too bad as everyone is saying. To say that the lead singer "thinks he can sing so good but he cant" is incorrect. Check out that video of the West Semi-finals; he's amazing.
they have started mixing the audio in a way they didn't on the first season, so the new guys all sound better. Just saying. the aires are still amazing.
@SuperGilfte The arrangement is very similar to the original... and how most choral/acapella groups perform it.... like i did in school 10 years ago, before glee...
Not bad, but the only person I have ever seen from this show with a vocal range even near that of Freddie Mercury is the blond lead singer from On The rocks. Still though, not bad.
@ObsessiveSketch Actually I was just wondering the same thing. Cause I was all excited about watching some of these performances back cause this season is really good. But I noticed everything sounded thiner than I remember and the balance was off
@BlackStarx3 The glee cast sang at my mall no microphones no equipment and it sounded great without any enhancements half the singers sound better without it . These guys are good but I doubt you an criticize anyones opinion due to the fact that everyone has their preferences .
The little guy in the group (I wish I knew everyone's names...) was in an episode of Bones. I started screaming BONES as soon as I saw him. Talented.....
The lead guy is incredible - watch the Journey medley they do on the show and you'll see what I'm talking about. This is probably their weakest performance.
don't say who has stolen this song from who... that is just wasting time. It was written by Freddie Mercury and Performed originally by Queen. The arrangement isn't that different from the original. Yes it was performed on Glee as a duet in Season 1 and as great as that was, Freddie Mercury originally handled the incredibly challenging vocals all by himself which is impressive to say the least. Stop with the trivial and petty arguments.
It seems every performance I watch has comments from ignorant people saying songs were copied from Glee. Most of the groups especially the collegiate groups have been around singing many songs performed in Glee since before it was even thought of in planning committee, with groups like this being the inspiration for the show in the first place. I was a fan of acapella groups long before Glee came out and spawned a lot off ignorant fools who think that acapella didn't exist before Glee FACEPALM
@diclonisvector along with this, Glee singers are not nearly as good as these guys... Glee is fixed audioly in the studio while these guys did it pure raw upfront.. so if anyeone says Glee singers are better they should get new ears...
@ryu1150 I hope you know you sound like an idiot. That song was around way before Glee was even thought of, and the arrangement is pretty close to the original, so don't even think of that argument. Now I'm as big a fan as the next Gleek, but if you want to get technical, Glee copied Happy Feet and Ella Enchanted because those arrangements of this song are very similar. Point is, this is a great song that has been done by many many groups. :-)
@kittybee124 See but that's the thing. Everyone on the first season was traditional A Capella singing and none really had something to make them stick out. Except for Nota. They brought something new to the table. That Caribbean flavor that hasn't been seen in A Capella music. THAT'S why they won. Because had they not ben in there, it would've been anyone's game. But it was a clearshot from the get go that they were gonna win.
they don't seem to blend well...

The sad thing is Rockapella could shred this song apart and there are only what, FIVE OF THEM? Hmm...This is horrible acapella.

sorry but this song has been around way before glee even began to be the worst thing to happen to tv.
In few words, NO THEY DID NOT COPY THIS FROM GLEE.
