Nice job. Thanks for posting. I got this scam just today, only mine came from a JOHN ROLLINS. Same letter though, although I think they fixed the typos and changed a bit here and there. A big clue is in the way they word it without ever mentioning the exact item you posted. They just say things like "the item".
Awesome video man yeah I got a letter in da mail same principle I had won 5000 dollars but they sent a check for 8000 saying to please cash the check and sent us back the difference for taxes and handling fees watch out for these idiots
I got some guy on craigs list who did the same thing as depicted here in this example. So I did what any other drunk dude would do. I sent him the video, 2 girls 1 cup.
ALSO WATCH OUT FOR ANYONE REQUESTING: Address, phone, and email. THIS IS FOR IDENTITY THEFT. I can not believe the amount of crap that comes to me from CL asking this. Most of it is from people in some other area THAT I DID NOT LIST IN. Then there are the ones: I saw you craiglist posting/listing. ALL ACTUAL LISTING RESPONSES WILL HAVE THE ACTUAL LISTING TITLE ATTACHED. I always ask that people email me an evening/weekend contact # for me to contact. So far thats worked fine, except for the spam.
Some guy is currently doing the same to me. I've learned a lot in the last 24 hours and will not be continuing this transaction. Is there anything we can do or do I just rip up the check and move on with my life?
I remember the first time I almost got scammed like this he wanted me to tutor his kids but I had to cash his phony check and wire the rest so they could have their plane tickets. He kept calling me and blowing up my phone every hour till I told him to go f*** himself then he told me he would find me and kill me. Of course he won't but these guys that scam have serious ego trips.

i gotten that same responds every time i sell somethin on craigs...they say to remove the post and that they will pay an extra 50 bucks..not fallin for that
so craigslist is only good when ur selling things to ppl that will give cash only because they gotta send you the cash 1st right n all you gotta do is pay for the shipping with the item ur selling to them right?????? or can they pay for shipping?? but mostly if they pay with cash then obviously theres no way to get scamed correct???
@TrueDominguez Theres 100 million ways to get scammed on craigslist. Even in person you can get scammed face to face. The only way to 100% never get scammed is. 1. Do your deals in the police station 2. If its electronic make sure you have everything to test it 100% ask the seller to make sure it is charged. 3. If your buying a car dont go there with all the cash espcally if the seller is making a big deal about it. THERES NO SUCH THING AS A REALLY GOOD DEAL if your just gonna get ROBBED!
@Cole1497 . I Sell year round everyday and atleast 1-3 sets of tires on criaglsist. I dont ever get scammed...
I just know ever scam in the book and I thought I would tell all the stupid people a couple tips. As I have no problem scaming over 1000 people on craigslist IN PERSON thats right its 100% do able and over 1000 people have fallen for it. how else can you make $16,000 in a month?
@tinderinc I sincerely doubt that you are or have ever been able to scam anyone based on your absolutely abhorrent communication skills. You've never even seen $16k, let alone made that much by "scaming" people on "criaglsist" every month. Go back to your single-wide, fire up some meth, beat your wife, and shut the fuck up.
These are nigerian scumbags, stealing in America, don't be fooled by these idiots!!! They are always on craigslist, just as soon as you post an item. Learn to read between the lines!!!
@shomedamony Yes, another one that is probably part of the same group is eunicerose4000@gmail.com. I almost sold my iPod to him, but I got suspicious because I was getting post master delivery failures. After looking him up, he sends fake paypal messages (which he did to me) and lies that he is going to pay. I was lucky that the post office hadn't shipped the item yet.
The check I received when I almost fell for this was from a guy in Michigan, the Baptist Church he used as the check name was in Arizona, and the area code on the phone number he had was in Vegas. He sent me almost 4 grand for a 480 item. I reported him to the FTC.
i have sold some stuff across the county, but i accept USPS money orders only, or paypal. with a usps money order, you can call the 1800 number and verify it, and paypal, you can wait until the money clears in your account.
**Important**If you are mailing out of state or out of the country I'd recommend using maybe a P.O. Box also as your main address for security so for example if you was getting scammed, the person that tried to scam you, could not use your main physical address to commit any other type of scam or criminal act.
Depending on what it is you're selling and where you live. If you are selling something that's quite popular or big, try selling to someone that is LOCAL and meet that person directly.
i did some research on first national bank and american airline when this happened to me
those names may sound legit but the addresses for these places on the check are wrong!
if anyone is having trouble with this kind of scam always remember that you can call these companies and banks themselves and ask if they are aware of any such transaction.
The check i recieved was from a chase bank in Illinois but when i called chase and asked if they had record of the check they said it didn't exist.
@kitekunisaki2000 do nothing. dont cash the check, dont give the 'mover' your items. just do nothing. ignore his emails, throw the check away and relist the craigslist add. :)
Those are the most annoying emails! I stopped putting the email contact on CL and started putting my phone number. Then the sales calls started. I report each and every one of them to the FTC because I am on the Do Not Call list.
Very common scam. Now they are doing it with paypal. I am not sure exactly how it works but I assume the scamer will do a charge back on their bank oncethe seller sends the item. Thus, keeping the item for free. I think the best we can do is be very skeptical and if it is too good to be true, then it probably is. Also, it would be good if we all follow on this guys and let them send us fake checks and money orders and then just ignoring them. At least they would need to spend money doing that!
lol i love getting checks like this. i remember this scammer send me 1500 dollar check like this and he wanted 1000 dvds the only problem was that the check and ups addresses were completely different you do think its real but its not its a bunch of bullshit !!
Some guy sent me something about buying my item and having it shipped to his son overseas and would pay me an extra 100 bucks through paypal. SOMEONE SHOOT THE SCAMMERS FUCK! Im so pissed im gonna take 20 vicodin pills
some guy is trying to scam me of getting my mytouch3g that i am selling for 250$ and is giving about the same thing as the video is telling. Only accept it when people that are buying live near you, and will pick it up.
Shop local and meet up only don't shop out of your city be in the safe side.. Cash or forget It.. Test it be for you buy it.. Cash Only Local Saler and buyer Only..
I have the same thing right now, I was selling rotors for $350 but got the check for $3,800 bucks. I knew something was up from the beginning. This scammer goes under few different names one of them is Mary Loveth.
Like the guy in the video said be careful, dont get tempted by all that money because its all fake!!!
same exact thing happened to me, i got a check for way more then i asked, nothing makes sense, should i just rip the check up, or tell someone about it.
@ArtWithRob you can try and tell the authorities about it but they might not catch the guy. its up to you if you want to go thru all that hassle to file a report or just rip the check up
have an account. Instead of getting money directly from the bank, hes getting property from ppl on craigslist but like i said earlier, avoiding any risk of physically entering a bank with the phony check
stock paper and print whatever you want on it, and bank check scanners will successfully match the barcode with an account. what this scammer has done is he has a list of check account info (routing #, bank, name, address, etc), and a batch of blank checks that he prints the corresponding info on. whats clever about this guy though is hes circumventing the risk of dealing with depositing the check in a bank which will have him on tape and possibly his fingerprints on the check if he doesnt
ur mistaken because that check is actually connected to a bank account and the funds are available. when you go to the bank and attempt to deposit it in your account, the funds will actually be available and your account will temporarily contain the $6,000 whatever dollars. Its not until, im thinking "american airline" or whoevers account those routing #s are connected to, call to file a fraud dispute because they themselves didnt make the 6k transaction. you can easily purchase blank check
this person wants my nintendo wii from nebraska for 300, shes from utah and im from nebraska, she said illbuy it for 300 and ill give extra for shipping and handling. she said ill do money order or paypal, is this a scam or not?
BE VERY CAREFUL. I almost sent my PSP this morning to Nigeria. Luckily, I called paypal and told me that the email was fake. I got to the USPS just in time to reclaim my item. Ironically this morning I scammed an asian man for 80$ for a non-working video card. You win some, you lose some.. :(

No, not on craigslist DO NOT accept Paypal! Most of you guys dont know this but, all these scammers on craigslist are NIGERIANS very poor people who have no food water electricity, they use internet cafe's to do their scamms online. As soon as you post something on craigslist you will get overwhelmed with e-mails from scammers and they usually start with: Dear Seller or Is item still available >? Or " I will like to buy your item" u can notice the bad grammar..
