Why don't they make movies like this anymore? Hollywood movies nowadays are just 3D pieces of BS that leave people saying "wow that was really really...three dimensional" what happened to movies that made you question your thinking? What was the last original movie that did well ?? about half of the damn movies released this year are either remakes or sequels ... Originality is becoming very scarce
@Cohagentron They make good movies every year, they are all independent films now, with limited releases sadly, so people like you aren't exposed to it as much. I can name 10 film this year that top American History X. Go out and look for good movies, no one is gonna give it to you :)

I just watched this movie and it was amazing. i mean the simplicity of it and how it portraits the rasism. Edward Norton really was fantastic in this movie.
The problem is not nearly enough people understand the good intention of it. There's too many racist assholes out there that seem like they never watched the ending of this movie.

It's teaching people that racism isn't right... if you didn't get that from the movie, then it's obvious you weren't granted the gift of intelligence. This is a fucking classic movie that will go down in history. If the whole world watched it, a lot of bullshit problems would be solved. If YOUUU can't appreciate a genius film, then by all means, go hard and watch some Mean Girls crap.

@KillSwitchENGAGED166 the black and white scenes from American History X are all the flashbacks to the hate crimes and racism in Daniel Vineyards life before he got reformed in prison. the message of the film is to show the horrors of hate fueled violence and racism. but I guess that got lost in translation in the empty heads of modern day Neo Nazis.

This is one of the great examples of a terrific performance in a so-so film. The best example is Vanessa Redgrave in 1968's "Isadora".
