Thx for the reply, I just completed a "Spinal Cord Stimulator" trial for pain management and it went great! Awesome technology, I am going to have the permanent one installed as soon as the surgeon books the date for me. That solves 50% of my foot problem, now to fix the chronic ulcer and vain problems. I was told once by a Dr. that doing a BTK ampy just moves the pain to that location now, do you feel thats true? Thx, -Don
Hello, Im Don Im now 52. I lost all my toes and half my left foot due to pneumococal bacterial meningitis and sepsis ten years ago. Pain and ulcers, infections have been constant and incredible. Burned out on the pain meds. Im seriosly thinking BKA for left foot. Wish id amputated in the first place. Wish you luck Hun, I know and feel your pain. Move to Maine, your low income being student, great free care here.-Don
Lol Maine is awesome but not exactly do-able. Husbands job and all. Of course our situations are different, but I can tell you that going BKA on the right to escape the ongoing problems was the best choice I could've made. Hope you're doing well. Please let me know how it all works out for you.
Bless you. Life must be so harsh, living with this for whole life. I think u made the rite choice though, ampitation is scary but logical (comming from a future orthopedic surgeon) may G-d bless you and help you in your darkest hours -3
First of all I hope that whatever you do that you find relief from your struggle. Having a husband there for you must be a big help. You should seek additional opinions and explore ways for philanthropy to pay for an ankle replacement. I don't think it's fair that you should lose your legs because of money and maybe the reforms will help you. You are a brave human being.
Genessa, concerning your ankle fusion comment. Mine failed, but that doesnt mean it might fail on your end. Whatever you decide, stick with it! Dont let people talk you down
jbvcw71: Healthy Diet & Nutritional Support (from a good licensed dietician) will undoubtedly help with joint pain & skin health as well as your mental health. Many people are seriously deficiant in many ways & don't know it.You are a strong & attractive woman & deserve more than just medical doctors & surgeons. The program on BBC You are what you eat is an excellent lesson that I myself (aging man) have taken to heart. It has changed my life & how I feel day to day.Any prayers I have are for you.
Sorry, I had accidentally hit the remove instead of reply button. Still getting used to this whole replying to comments thing. I actually had a reply written out but I think I'll just address it in the next vid as I'm getting more comments and emails responses than I had expected. In the meantime, thanks!!!
But I also think you should show your present amputations on the videos, so that you can make a full diary, like a before and after. I suppose it's a great deal of perseverance you're having to spend, and I admire you for that already. I hope our words can be in any way positive for you and give you strength to keep it up.
Once again, health insurance companies ruin people lives... Anyway, I agree that amputation is the best option for you, specially because you'll be able to walk, run, exercise your body, which eventually improves the quality of life, revives the will of living, and that will be just great!
What about people who want to try all the things they can? Do you want bureaucrats saying "TAKE THIS TREATMENT AND BE HAPPY WITH IT".I don't want to turn this into political argument, but something as bland as "insurance companies ruin lives" has to be challenged.
I'm sorry anyone would have to go through this. You're such a beautiful girl (you really are hot as hell and I have a sweet spot for really good looking red heads). My opinion is that you elect for amputation so you can begin to enjoy life. I would love to see you smile in one of your videos... I bet you can light up a room. Sounds like you already know what is best for you. As you know, life as an amputee is NOT an easy one... but it'll be easier than what you're going through now.
You're truly an inspiration. If you haven't already watch the video called "No arms no legs no worries" - It made me cry (from happiness) :3
