Very nice, although I don't why EVERY high dollar semi-custom gun maker feels the need to put ambi-safeties on their guns. Unless you're one of the 10% of left handers out there they are COMPLETELY useless. rant over.
Thanks for the vid! A gorgeous handgun, unfortunately it doesnt' come cheap, but you do get what you pay for. Does it come in shorter barrel lengths, such as for concealed carry under a jacket, and would you reccommend it for such a purpose?
I can understand the camera at a CA range, don't want to RO to throw you out cause he thinks your a anti-gun person :P Good gun though!! When ever I get a stable career I'll probably start doing competition consistently, shooting static paper gets old :)
Great question. I can't speak to the price, however I can attest for a reason. The STI mag's don't fit my SVI. A buddy of mine gave one to me to try it out but the mag wiggles and fails to lock into the mag release.
I have heard of STI mags working in SVI's but I'm sure there are a load of variables that need to be met. As custom as an STI is, its still a production pistol. SVI can meet different specs as requested. From what I hear, its a flip of a coin on whether or not an STI mag will work
That is a fine pistol you have there. I just really started getting into competition, and I currently run Glocks for PPC/IPSC. Depending on how things go this year, I am considering putting together an Infinity of my own. I look forward to a live-fire video.
Oh, and I never expected to hear Buckethead in a pistol video!
Love the 45 ... the easiest round to reload in my opinion. Load a 230 grn bullet on 4.1 grns of bullseye you will have a bullet traveling at aroung 630fps, which is in no way major, but very pleasent to shoot. Love your gun, enjoy it. I have a Tangfolio Witness elite limitted, mostly because of the price. It is chamber also in 45 acp. That's my limitted 10 gun. If I had the money I would have bought the svi ...
Why get in .45 though? I understand you live in the people's republic of California now. But you never know what future holds. And without mag restrictions you will be at a disadvantage against the .40 because of mag capacity.
I need one good shot and with the weight of the avg 230gr near half inch wide bullet it might as well be a mass driver.
One good well placed shot.
I don't see the need for slinging 17 rds of ammo at an assailant.
If you practice you will mitigate the chance that an unfortunate child watching a disney movie in an SUV will take a round cause you decided to go all hyper lead slinging combat rambo on someone that one or two great well practiced shots will take down.
Thanks for the lecture. But if you were paying attention, you would know that this is a competition gun and the question is not about tactical relevance of one caliber over the other but their relative merits for competitive shooting. .40 is hands down the preferred cartridge for the USPSA limited division - which is what this gun is made for. On top of it the cost of .40 heads provides for a significant cost savings when you are shooting over ten thousand rounds a year in practice alone.
I share the same viewpoint as a CCW permit holder. My carry pistol is a Kimber Covert II, .45 ACP. We can discuss this further when I start my range reviews.
Nothing you said was incorrect. .40 is the preferred round for Limited class by a long shot, no pun intended.
To answer your question, I prefer the .45 load. I have a lot of experience with .45 ACP and it holds personal sentimental value. That said, it would be wiser to shoot the .40 with less recoil and more rounds, but hey... It's all about fun right? I have fun with the .45 ACP.
I'm sorry if there is some confusion but that's what I said.
STI and SVI also share the patent, making them the proprietary owners and their own take on each design. And yes sir, this pistol is stainless steel. Sans grip which is polymer.
Nice video detailing the SVI 45 acp. How are the handling characteristics of such a large framed handgun? In your video it looks almost as large as the desert eagle.look forward to seeing you future videos.
Yes, it is pretty big. Since its a wide body it has some width to it, and believe it or not a guy at the range thought it was a desert eagle. I don't necessarily think it has a striking resemblance, but as the size goes it's definitely larger than your typical 1911 single-stack.
I have big hands, so the single-stacks don't really fit me. Imagine my excitement when I finally got my hands on this!
The positive side of a large frame is the recoil reduction, it's still a kick, but not unwieldy.
I understand where you are coming from but it is also important to realize that owning a firearm is a right that requires a certain humility.
We can point fingers all we want, and believe me this state has kept some fine firearms out of my possession, but in the meantime it is important to pursue an education and perhaps run for congress to make some changes.
Your mind is the most powerful weapon you can wield. And with that mentality it is possible to overturn said laws, in time.
Yes you are correct in time it could be possible to change the laws in commiefornia. Hell I live in the people's republik of illinois and although it is worse in your state it's still bad here. You could just move though, thinks are going to get worse before they get better.
congratulations!, your infinity looks gourgeous, it has been a rela pleassure to see your video and I hope to see any other. With regard to my agrupation using the infinity I have to say that it is not so good as I do with the sig sauer, but this is my falut of course not related with my infinty.
I would never try & tell you how to make your videos but I would like to hear about not just the Pro's on the firearm but the Con's also. ( Like Price lol ) Cause I know your looking at least over 2k right there.
I just try and give the viewer both sides of the picture in my videos and as we all know there is no perfect firearm but its your channel and you can do whatever you please.
did you buy your gun straight from SVI? is SVI still building that kind of .45 pistol? i like it and very nice.

Instead of telling people how to comply with the stupid 10 round law you should tell people is UNENFORCEABLE and how to get them.
It's called a rebuild kit and they are legal to buy. Get some!

Hey there, how's the weight with the mag full compared to a standard 1911 with 10 round mag?
- Pax.
SwordsmanOfFaith 3 years ago
The gun weighs around 38 Oz. unloaded. (I have not weighed it loaded) Which is pretty light, thanks to the polymer lower.
Do you mean a single stack 1911 with and extended mag, or a wide body 1911/2011?
FriendlyShooter 3 years ago
The 2011 fully loaded compared to a 1911 single stack with 10 round mag.
- Dominus tibiscum.
