my top screen turns fuzzy black, the game is only slightly visible. If I hold down the L button, it goes back to normal, but sometimes, it will just go back to fuzzy after letting go of the L button. Hey i recently replace my top screen using this video. Everything seemed to be going smoothly. Everything came apart like the video showed and went back together the way the video showed. But when i was done and went to turn on my ds it wont turn on the bottom screen just flashes then shuts off.

@sedohrable I had the same problem with my DSLite. It's because the ribbon cable (the one in the left part of the hinge) is disorientated. You can solve it by disconnecting the cable from the bottom part and connecting it again correctly. Hope it helps!

Update: it was the flat ribbon cable, i plugged that more vigorously into the socket and it finally worked. Now, my touch pad (bottom) doesn´t work....ahhhhhhh :-(((( You have an idea what went wrong there?

Hello. thank you (first of all) for this very efficient + detailed repair instruction. I used this because I had to replace the whole NDS cover (upper+lower). When I screwed everything back together, I switched on the DS (the LED light showed amber) and the bottom screen just flicked for a second, in white :-(( I guess its the flat band cable connecting the top screen to the bottom half. Is there a trick how to place this super flat and small cable into correct position w/o it slipping out?

Just replaced the case on my DS and the top screen is white (not completely, you can still see stuff, just very pale). I swapped the screens and it looks the same (The bottom screen, now showing the top screen picture is whited out). I turned around the ribbon cable between the m/board and the mini-circuit board and it still looks the same (so I'm thinking it is possibly not the ribbon cable). This about leaves only the main motherboard. Anyone have any better idea?

Just to note that I didn't check the screens before I did the case replace (dumb I know) so this may have been from before and not damage caused by the case replace (the hinge holder in the case was broken).

Just a note here: Depending on how old the DS Lite you are repairing is; The collar ring will be either solid, or will have a slot in it.

The slotted collar is on older systems, and the solid is on newer systems. If you have a slotted ring, it will be a LOT easier to remove. ;-)
