  • @kusamabo--the Democratic party that created the Jim Crow laws are not the Democratic party of today. Those Democrats all became Republicans when LBJ signed the Civil Rights Law of 1964. learn your history.

  • The Democrats created Jim Crow. Learn your History.

  • In the most obfuscating tact since his infamous Monicagate red herring ("It depends on what the definition of 'is' is."), President Clinton equates voter ID with the pernicious Jim Crow laws of fifty years ago. It's a photo ID, Mr. President--not a poll tax or a literacy test.

If a legal citizen can make it to a polling place, a legal citizen can obtain a lawful voter ID.

  • Why can't Obama sound more like Bill Clinton--sometimes.

  • Thanks for posting campusprogress. We need great minds in our government again. This is a reminder of what it was like to have a government that served its people rather than its corporations.

  • Actually, V, not everybody in America has the right to vote. Convicted felons, for example, have forfeited their right. Non-citizens never had the right. As Democrats seek to shore up their dwindling numbers, they want to give the vote to both demographics. Obtaining a legitimate ID is not difficult, certainly not out of reach for those who work and contribute.

If racism isn't the strawman that Clinton has fashioned, why does he invoke Jim Crow, America's long-buried version of apartheid?

  • "The Republicans, who control the House and have a lot of votes in the Senate, have now decided, having quadrupled the debt in the 12 years before I took office and doubled it after I left, that it's all a sudden the biggest problem in the world." Classic Bill Clinton

  • Why is it that every European nation requires an ID to vote, every hotel in America requires an ID to check in, and a drivers license is required to pick up tickets held at the window of any concert hall--yet if a driver's license is requested at an Amercan polling place that it's somehow racist? Who is being hurt? What 18 year-old doesn't have a driver's license and if they don't, is it really so difficult to get a photo ID? Please, President Clinton--spare us the demogoguery.

  • @hookalakah We are not a European nation, we are better. People who stay at hotels and go to concert halls almost always have an ID, and they are a select few of the total population. But everyone has the right to vote. Many people don't have the resources to obtain an ID and most of these people normally tend to vote Democratic, which is why Republicans are for showing an ID. It's not an issue of racism, it's an issue of breaching a right. Any questions?

  • I love Bill Clinton.
