  • In any point in the dance routine, do you have to life you heel to the ball of your foot in order to life your hip? As an example. When you stick out your hip, then you RISE your hip, then put it back in to your regular position, do you have to life your heel?

  • could you teach me? i love bellydancing. i try to but its hard.. are you teaching people or something?

  • u make it seem so easy, thanks for sharing it

  • Are the feet flat or on tip toes?

  • Wow!! Your methods of teaching on youtube are so different!! Love Love Love it!!!! Beautiful!

  • I have a question. I was taking belly dance classes an my teacher said that we couldn't lift our heels. I mean we could, but it wouldn't be the 'same effect'.

do you lift your heels? My teachers recommend not to :(

  • ur so good at it ~ it almost looks like an optical illusion!

and i love the tinkling of your skirt. it sounds like wind chimes~

  • Also is ther something i need 2 do with my knees or legs?

  • Wow i must have hips that just do ther own thing :(. • Thank you so mucho to post it! =)

  • hard to teach without showing legs and feet...

  • i learned it by bringing it up, out and in

  • Very nice I like, I enjoy the way you explain it.

  • Good explaination. Thank you!

  • Thanks your like perfect at it most ppl dont explain as good as you.

  • Thank you so much ! You explained it so clearly, brought it step by step... I think the first time I got it ! Thanks !

  • she is not working on her arms, she is showing a hip movement.

  • i thought it was a good intro but really must practice on those arms. They look like broken wings.

  • This is a a maya " up" ??

Thought maya hips was to round hip out and down?? Looks good though.

  • wow very beautyful. looks very sexy ;)

  • ur so pretty!!!!! wow

  • thanxs !! I can !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@_@

  • excellent !!!

  • Wrong music and timing at the end :S

  • omg :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D: i cant stop smiling

  • You are such a good teacher! Thank you, I loved watching your video, and am excited to see more. Everything you explained is perfect.

  • she is not doing it good enough you should watch "Asena" a turkish bellydancer and youll se what i mean

  • Asena??? THAT'S your advice? Look for Sadie.

  • me cancè de verte!!!

  • WHAT SONG IS IT???

  • beautiful body and you move it so gracefully....i'm gonna try this but...yea..i dont c it happenin ANYTIME soon. lol. :-) but ur amazing

  • haha same here xD i have a fit belly but i cant move it like that

  • It is important to see how u do with ur feet.

  • i still dont get what you do with your legs :S and its really cute how your arms automatickly move gracefuly with your hips, its shows your kinda trying to avoid to do it, but its like you cant stop :P haha Its nice, you are a lovely dancer :)

  • i'm better. ahhahahaha

  • With basic maya, no feet. Heels on floor. Hips only. Feet can move if you slide without lifting heels while doing maya. Alternatively alternate lifting heel to vary hip levels. Lift heels if doing maya to the floor.

  • that was a very good lesson but i still have a bit of trouble with it. But over all very nice thank you

  • i can't get my hips to go up. i can go out. I don't know how to isolate them...been practicing but as i don't have anyone to guuide me...i don't know where i'm going wrong. i am a bollywood dancer. we have lots of hip movements but somehow i just can't get this. help!!!!

  • bend your knees... when you push your hip out, don't push up at the same time or else you won't be able to do the upward movement! Hope this helps

  • adorable,muy esrmosa

  • lovely flexible movement. the first movement you did is an inward 8 only the second movement is the maya. 1st movement is Egyptian move, 2nd is turkish move... :-) you are a natural dancer...good luck

  • Thanks for correcting her on this, I was about to say something, but you got to it first haha :)

  • shes good

  • omg those hips are so arousing!!

  • very good teacher

  • It's an easy move = )

  • i can go down but i cant go up could you help me =S

  • i caaant do it

  • queencassie:thank you for your video ,it is really beautiful,I´ll learn how to dance now,

it is good for my health.

I want to have your video ,but i dont know how to have these, tell me.

  • Thanks for these instructional vids! And thanks for going slow enough so people can see how to do it correctly and then doing it at regular speed so we can see how it's done. :D

  • great job with instruction keep up the slow frame by frame. best wishes

  • where can I find music like this?

  • You are really amazing!

What's the song in the end? I love this type of music and dance. Thank you!

  • Hi there!

Your video is short, instructional and very very useful. I have also learned nice new movements that seemed more difficult to me at first... but after watching your video they are affordable!...hmm.. I will watch again to practise! Thank you VERY MUCH!

  • youre really the best! u teach awesome, now i learned some new moves, very big thanx

  • hey gueen cassie u r the best. thank u soo much for posting this video.

  • Nice, nice. Very informative. One question that's slightly off-topic, though: Where do you get your clothing?

  • Thank you, my outfits are actually just mix and match of skirts and rolled tops. I do have one homemade gold costume. This one is actually an old dress that I cut in two and had sewn like that as separate pieces. Bellydance costumes just cost way too much buy.

  • I am a life-long fan of belly dance. I'd like to design simple, cheap costumes. Any ideas?

  • i tried it and it's really hard..........i don't think i'll ever learn.........but i really want to do it........u did an awesome job

  • Perfect practice makes perfect! Good luck, Liz.

  • Excellent Cassie. PLEASE continue to teach!!! Us drummers are always looking for beautiful, talented dancers to play for:)

  • aaw Cassie... I really hope you take this far.. very talented.. and quite the Beautiful girl.. (hugs)

I hope all is well with you..

    ~Brian

  • i don't get how your feet are moving and also knees

  • you should make more instructional videos!

  • I´m a boy/man, but i still want to lear bellydance!I ´ve heard it´s a dance for women, but i know that guys doin it to. ( for mi tis a dance for all who like to learn)

One questions? Is it harder for men , to learn then women?

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • I am taking bellydance classes(LOVE bellydance) and was having trouble with Mayas. I saw your Maya video a couple of days ago and you did an excellent job breaking it down, thank you. Can you do a hip shimmy instructional?

  • That's great, you're welcome, I might be able to someday.

  • what's the title of the song you used on the last part? the video is really great and very educational.. i like it..kudos to you!

  • The song and artist are the same "Warda" by "Warda"

  • when you do the first part when you take hip push it out is your right leg suppose to be bent if your bring it out your left hip

  • Yes, having both knees bent the whole time helps you control the movement better, also use the balls of your feet.

  • its a nice move but next time can u make the video brighter its a lil bit dark.thanks

  • i shall practice, should my back be hurting?

  • Your back shouldn't hurt if you hold correct posture which is knees bent, and tail-bone tucked under. Don't over-exert yourself and only practice this for a few minutes a day. Also be sure to stretch your whole body before practicing.

  • is it normal to bend your knees while hip rolling? cuz for some reason i do. and it seems like everyone else doesnt bend their knees..at all.! am i doing anything wrong? any pointers?

  • Yes, bending knees is important in bellydance, it helps open up your hips and gives greater control and more area for movement. I have my knees bent, and I am also on the balls of my feet as well.

  • i noticed that the music you played at the end of the clip is one i've been looking for like since i started bellydancing. could u please tell me what's the name of the author of that music? i would be very grateful! btw you have such a amazing control over your movements and your explanatiosn are great! :)

  • wow ur really good!! that helped me alot thanx!!

  • you do it so effortlesly. big help thankyou.

could you teach me how to do rib isolations. it looks like belly dancers have no ribs and i will not stop until i can do it. please help, i like the way you instruct.

  • Thank you, I'm glad I helped you! One good exercise is to stand with your back against the wall. First just have your shoulders touching the wall and try to move your lower half side to side. Then press your butt to the wall and try to move your shoulders to the side without moving your lower half. Practice this for awhile until you feel you can stand away from the wall and make the same movements without moving the other half.

  • if you could like reply to me that would be cool, i always have trouble rolling my right hip, i can do my left perfectly, but my right is never as good as the left. Do you have any tips??

  • It is normal to have one side easier than the other. To help with the hips you might want to try a weighted belt which will add resistance on both sides and help strengthen the muscles. Also try making the moves smaller with your left while concentrating more on your right and letting that side gain more memory and strength and to catch up.

  • the first movement is called taxim and the second one is maya, going down is maya and going up is taxim..... that is at list in tribal style...

  • I love your videos. do you do any latin? I am looking for some arm styling for chachacha, merengue and salsa. I like the way you move your arms and hands

  • i TRIED it, view my hip roll video and tell me what you think!

  • omgosh datz soo mads....danx 4 putting it on here...its helped me alot...xXx

  • That's great, you're welcome!

  • Is that a backward butterfly? Please reply!

  • Hmm I'm not sure of the terminology. What movements are normally a backwards butterfly?

  • I dont know the name of the move:S

  • amazing! I'm an amature belly dancer. You can beat me anyday.

  • When you up is it usual to go on your tippy toes?

  • Yes, I'm usually on the balls of my feet, it helps to go farther down and to balance on the way up. If you can't do that, then it's fine to just make the whole movement smaller.

  • You're a great teacher. Thanks for your instruction. My only complaint is the lighting, it's kind of hard to see your moves.

  • Thank you! Yep I'm going to try maybe using some lamps or try outdoors next time for better light.

  • good work out , i'd bet my beer belly would finally turn heads my way .. oh yeah

  • when u do this do u kind of tippy toe

  • Yes, exactly, I am kind of on my toes, helps to balance, though some people may find it more difficult.

  • when ur doing this r u kind of tippy toeing

  • i learn a new move ^^ thank you for sharing with us ur wisdom.. i hope u'll have time to make more..

  • i bet you if ppl were skinnier they woodnt be sayin that belly dancin looks better or is easier etc. with more chub..im just gonna call it chub...im not tryin to be mean...i just think ppl woodnt say that if they were skinnier

  • I think it's hard to belly dance if you dont have meat on your belly, but ok, you can try

  • Bellydancers come in many shapes and sizes. Ever heard of Rachel Brice, look her up if you want to inform yourself. Have you seen hula girls shaking thier hips? I can tell you they are quite small with powerful hips.

  • great vid cassie!!! It's at the same time instructional and entertaining.

    keep up the good work!!

  • when your doing the hip movements, should your heels stay stationed on the ground or are you supposed to lift them as you do bellyrolls?

  • Sorry for not showing my legs and feet, I completely forgot about that. I bend and straighten my legs with each movement and I find it easier to dance with my heels up so that I can control my movements easier and go down further.

  • I can't hear your clips, 'cause I'm at a library, using computers without speakers or headphones, but I look forward to listening to, as well as viewing your marvelous video clips, my queen!

  • Can one do an undulation while doing a maya?

  • Which kind do you mean, utilizing which body parts at what time?

  • Nevermind, I think I found my own answer to the question. A maya IS an undulation...just as a hip shimmy or bellyroll. Right?

  • Yes, a maya is vertical figure eights using your hips, then taking it up or down.

  • Great job, everything was nice and thorough. I'm looking forward to the bellyroll vid, but I think I can do it already! I've been practicing. Lots.

Now I'll try to Maya, I guess.

  • this is the secret to having a nice stomach.your a great teacher by the way.good job.

  • Super! Your voice is every bit as sweet as the rest of you!

  • Thanks for the update and tips everyone, I'm glad you're able to hear me for the most part as I havn't heard otherwise, and I'll work on what I wear next time as well. Any more ideas?

  • What happened to your costume?

  • Superb!

  • great video! i'm an italian belly dancer too. maybe it would be useful if once u try to post a video dancing with shorts or pants. I'm not a maniac :P i'm a girl, but it's important looking both at the belly and at the legs the first time u practise :)

    kris

  • Thank you, yes I will defintely wear shorts or pants next time.

  • Very nice instructional video. I've been following your posts for a while and I love your dancing. I've just begun classes myself and so 'll have fun practicing the instructionals you show.

My only request: When teaching hip movements, I find it helpful to have a view of the knees/legs. While I understand the basic posture, the amount of movement allowed (or not allowed) for the knees/legs while doing these moves is still something I'm trying to keep in mind.

  • Thank you, that's great you are learning and watching my vids as well. Sure, I might wear shorts next time then, and stand a little furthur back.

  • I love watching your videos! Will you marry me? no? Will you make more videos? :p

  • Thanks everyone, I'm glad it helps you, I'll be sure to do more sometime. Next week will be the bellyroll one.

  • Thanks, next week I'll have a bellyroll instructional vid up.

  • Thanks! I'm a sorry excuse for an Egyptian, lol. I suck at this, but your videos help!

  • can you please put up more instructional vids!? b/c you're really good at teaching! thanks!

  • Wow QC, Very good. You make it so clear and understanable. It's good to see you doing instructions. You are exceptionally good.

    Regards,

    TS

  • We finally get to hear your voice! xD Well I finally get to hear it anyway. I have a friend who is learning how to bellydance entirely from Youtube videos, so this should be interesting to her.

  • Great! I always wanted to learn that movement . it is very nice from you to share, congratulations, I will look forward your next videos .

  • Very happy to be the one making first comment! Thank you Cassie! Nice Job!
