It's strange, i always thought John was excellent on most of the doors songs, tasteful, really made a difference, unlike a lot of other in-da-godda-da-vidda drummers of the day. But his soloing? 6 notches down. Unlike Bonham where his soloing = his backbeat. :(

Everyone needs to stop arguing over which drummer is the best. There is no best. Music isn't a sport, or competition. It's all preference. John Densmore is an incredible drummer, one of my favorites.

Because he still had plans, and Jim have tried and it never left a bad job, certainly did not have the same effect they had with Morrison but they cheer for another 2 years!

I think densmore is great, but it really doesnt show in this video. most mediocre drummers could do this I think. he's a bit like mitch mitchell in his great use of accents and jazz patterns though.

@GOORVY Moon was a bit more than a "good" drummer, he was brilliant. His range and versatility are astonishing; listen to The Who Sell Out or Tommy for him holding rhythm. When he played live he went for the theatricality of it all with the "big noise", but you can't listen to Live at Leeds and not be impressed by his remarkable drumming.

John Densmore's fantastic, too, of course!

@Iarzevego I love The Doors but if you really think that John Densmore is the best... you obviously haven't heard John Bonham, Neil Peart, Dave Lombardo, Mike Portnoy, Keith Moon, Dave Grohl or Gene Hoglan. The Doors are a brilliant band and my favorite of all time to date, but there are much better drummers out there.
