  • Europe was lucky and smart to stop Ottomans at Wien, otherwise, today, most likely almost all Europe would be Ottoman empire!! One of the strongest empires in human history!

  • а кто исполняет?

    who play this music?

  • It says can atilla - sultanlar askina :)

  • You are talking like your nation is the innocentest country in the world. Turkey was always in pursuit of happiness!!

  • We dont ride camels you moron! We drive Mercedes and BMW. Read Mercedes information booklet where the Merc. truck factory and who buys most Merc. cars.

  • First Nato took their guns and turned their back on poor innocent people. Slaughter of hate its unfortunate poor children and mothers suffer no husbands or dads. We must communicate for peace.

  • In one night the Turks pulled 52 or 53 ships over greeced planks with tow ropes over one of the hills that when one is climbing you must keep moving otherwise you get just as tired stopping catch a breath. The cannons were cast first time in history not only largest but in bronze to break through

min of over 10 feet of thickness. It is Unreal.

  • actually the prophet PBUH, when asked about the city he replied "it will be in islam by a great leader who carries my name, is of my blood and will be known by the name of EL_FATIH(arabic for conqueror)'. Guess what his prophecy was 100% fulfilled.

May Allah Bless Fatih Mohamed in Heaven for eternity

  • lol

1453: only the east side is liveable, and the population is like 15-20000

2008: both side are liveable, population is 14.000.000

so it cant be that we added nothing! (topkapi palast is one example)

we destroyed much??, look at the rumeli hisar or hagia sofia (<-best example, u can still see the christian paintings)

  • in response:

The Byzantines were recovering from a plaque and Islam invasion and it was almost 600 years ago. You people do por-create and pretty well.

The Byzantine palace was far grander than Topkapi palast.

The Byzantine palace and Church of the Holy Apostles was destroyed. The tomb of Constantine was destroyed. Churches are desecrated and turned to madrassas, Churches are destroyed today Christians are persecuted today. Only gutter have promote no tolerance.

  • What are you talking about ? in Istanbul 2500+ church !!! In your city, can you show me even 50 mosque ??

  • i think you should do your homework

  • I think you should history through the years and not just yesterday.

  • Hagia Sophia the biggest domed church is up

still standing. Of the 100 or more mosques in

Selaniki is there one standing. NO MOSQUE IN THE GREAT CITY OF ATHENS EXCEPT A MUSEUM. YOU INFIDEL.

  • infidel? uh oh, are you going to chop my head off now and yell allah hu akbar?

  • yep!!

  • i believe you, that is typical behavior from barbarian muslims.

  • you should do your best not to piss us off or otherwise you will find yourself in the next world asap!!

  • whatever you say internet tough guy. go fuck yourself.

  • pitelis, greek history!? What a pity! hah! What history! Only history of gays! Alexander The GAY who is the best known greek around the world. OTTOMAN EMPIRE is in our heart everytime! One day it will be back!

Avrupa'da tek siz ve Arnavutlar bizim kardeslerimizsiniz.

    Allah sizleri korusun.

We love you too, our Bosnian brothers.

  • the only reason people are still fighting and probably will forever, is that there are some jealous idiots who can`t stand the fact that it is one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the world and it has been called Istanbul for nearly 600years. seriously, get over it.

  • i agree west destroyed byzatine empire also venice is built by the gold stolen from constantinople and west didnt help when Fatih sultan conquested it.

  • the citys name was constadinople and it was a greek-orthodox city until 1453....not the sultans:greek history is far greater than turks

  • What are you talking about??

Do you know the history about the turks?? Ok the city was until 1453 Constandinople but yet it calls ISTANBUL ok?!!!

  • islamic history is beautifull ranging from turkey to india to china...

    islam forever!!!

  • @kenanjp: we are not fight :S :S

  • guzel

  • Hey you Turks and Greeks! Stop fighting!

pls stop!Dont you see the reality!

  • iste iman gucu. fatihim ve sehitlerimiz sizlere minnettariz.allah in izliylen bu safer muslumanlarin oldu

  • I am posting it again, till you understand it; Anatolian turks were at that time made up of mostly Roman-Byzantine converts. This is proven by genetical studies. Ottomans are ethnical, cultural continuum of Byzantines. The national greek & turkish history books are GARBAGE!

  • The Ottomans were NOT successors to the Roman legacy. The Roman legacy died with their sack of Constantinople, and desecration of the once-great city.

Ottomans were never a continuation of Rome, or Constantinople. Honestly SCREW TURKEY!

  • salvat1986 what is your mother fuckin propblem man

  • you people are unbelievable!

each nation has each own culture!its logical there are influences between both cultures because of the mutual existance in Balkans from the time that turks arrived from the far east!

  • im greek and i call "Istabul" Constantinople and most of greeks call the city that way, because this city has great emotinal efffect towards greeks!(dont forget it was the Byzantine-greek capital for more than 1000 years!although calling the city that way doesnt mean tha greeks will conquer it someday!

  • leave this digital war between Greece-Turkey and open your eyes to seewhat is going on in your fucking lifes stupid fantics!

get used to the fact that we are neighbours and that we should live along!

in conclusion i should say its a great song with a great video honouring both nations!

the loss of Constantinople just finished the existance of an old and great empire, so that a new one would start her own existance!

  • you people are unbelievable!

each nation has each own culture!its logical there are influences between both cultures because of the mutual existance in Balkans from the time that turks arrived from the far east!

  • i disagree that a turkish culture excists all turkish mosques are copies of the great greek church hagia sofia they are good in copying things but unable do create their own,the turks never created their own cities they occupied every city in minor asia and enslaved ist population and forced them to be turks

  • Anatolian turks were at that time made up of mostly Roman-Byzantine converts. This is proven by genetical studies. Ottomans are ethnical, cultural continuum of Byzantines. The national greek & turkish history books are GARBAGE!

  • istanbul is a dream

  • Fantastic video i love it... :D

  • Nothing is bad per se, being Rum, Turkish or religious or secular. It is the people who bring an aggressive flavor to all. So, please, let us all try to be kind and understanding to each other. Friendship, brotherhood and universality.

  • ben yunanim turk ve yunan brothers...

  • agzina saglik guzel kardesim:) sevgiler

  • ISTANBUL 1453 den beri FATİH SULTAN MEHMETtin dir.

  • Naphlati, there was no East or West concept during Ottomans or Eastern Rome, all those lands were considered as one entity. We have to be aware that we share a common fate in Athens, Damascus, Jerusalem and all are summarized in Istanbul.

  • i am RUM as well, and that video is really nice.

    thank you.

  • lan ne diyonuz bilmiyom ama aranızda yunan varsa ve hala ist. hayali kuruyosa gitsin anasının ... baksın belki orda bulur

  • I am Greek but I have to say the animation is a good job.

  • Actually nothing from the west was origional except homosexuality and debates about nothingness (philsophy)... even your religion started in the east, not to mention everything else if you look back in history.

Everyone who says the turks are stealing... look at yourselves.

  • How much of modern Europe is "borrowed" from Islamic acheivements? You use our numbers, our math, our navagational instruments... stealing wihtout consent of our "copyright". Stop saying that Turks are "thieves" of Europe!

  • actually those are arabic acheivements and not turkish, and were discovered in a period when people believed in fire, not islam!

  • People seem to forget that it was EUROPE who did all those cruel things to the Jews... Romans kicked you out, Nazis tried to kill you all... why the hell make Muslims suffer for it? This is a logical reason for hating Israel.

  • Turkey is wonderfull

  • i fuck byzantıum and greek and hristian people,,

    i love only turk muslumans

  • @emirtetik

    günah!

u must believe in christs and jew´s too

we have the same prophets (isa=jesus, moses=musa aleyhiselam...)

  • rezil ettin bizi salak.

  • The East Roman Empire was the continuing of the great civilization of the Roman Empire, and its heritage has survived to its fall..., anyway, this event was the result of the fact that none of the west christian european countries had any interest to defend Constantinople... above all the Church of Rome should have wished a much worse destiny to the Church of Constantinople than to be under the quite tolerant Ottoman domination...

Seulement doubles normes.

Everybody knows your history, but just not talking about it. First think what you did an Algeria and in Africa. Then remember how you managed to sell weapons to Armenians to act against ottoman. Only double standards.

  • A usual, unmannered Greek, hiding behind the EU. He knows well his country is not worth mentioningg about, so he puts the EU forward. Somehow, I find it very sad.

  • you know what is funny?

greeks told that they are the owner of istanbul and we took it.

they told that they are the owner of cyprus and we took it.

but these morons still talk like they can even hold athins from us:)

u little funny, sick minded poor fellas.

just learn to be human and we wont hurt you more.

  • The Great Ottoman Empire and my master Mehmet Han The Conqueror will always be remembered. Soon they will be honored... Incredible video...

  • salak salak konuşmayın izleyin.

  • I told you before, as a Greek, you have no right whatsoever to comment on our economy. Don't humiliate yourself further please, I can't waste time with kiddos. Εξάλλου, δεν ειμαι θυμωμένος αλλά εισαι πολύ βαρετός και εισαι πολύ ανίδεος. Αχχχχ συγγνώμη, αυτό είναι αληθινός. You burlesque, unmannered Greeks always get nasty when you hear the truth. How disgraceful of you!

  • Oh, as for your continuous insistence on using extremely deep philosophical advices, please leave them for the Thai Theravada forest monks. No need to be dramatic.

  • Those are some pretty loose standards by which to make a historical 'prediction'. By definition, you are not speaking historically or scientifically anyway. As for the many other unscientific comments like "Had not the Byzantines/Ottomans..." are common in every country, but chauvinist people especially use them for the following possible reasons a) To underestimate the 'other' side b) To console themselves and mend their hurt ego. or c)For mere insidious propagandist intentions.

  • What a meager and futile attempt to derail the topic you stupid köylü, this initial conversation started by the variance between the Ottomans and the Byznatines in the manner there empires fell...face it, our external fall to conflicts with Venitians, Latins, Normans, and many more was not "yüzkarası" or dishonorable as the economically backward Turks.

  • GRKFRK, I have provided you with facts and official records, on the other hand you seem like a Venezuelan ape-man who is completely lacking in intellect. You fly off on a completely irrelevant aspect. I'd rather be a proud Turkish 'koylu' than being an egocentric maniac Greek who reveals his incredible inferiority complex in every given opportunity. You and people like you are the by products of hate filled history textbooks.

  • You are the one that sonds like full of hate!!!

  • May I ask why you use a "proxy" account? Not even a keyboard hero? Don't worry I dont confuse Western Europe with Greece the Cradle of Balkan beggars.

Hint: 80 billion USD EU aid

  • Arkadaslar, TOSATOSA'ya size yardimci olmasi ve bu yaratiklari bloglamasi ve yazdiklarini silmesi icin yalvardim. Umarim vicdan sahibidir. Zira kendisine sizin artik Griklerle mücadele etmekten tükenmıs oldugunuzu ilettim.

  • sana deyildi kardes

  • Overall, I strongly urge you to get out of your "He who is not a Greek is a barbarian" mentality and realize that we are not in ancient times nor we will be in the future. Be a little Bismarck and follow realpolitik instead of some romantic, meaningless, outdated national grudges.

  • HA! Fact - The world views Turkey as opium vendors and taxi drivers in Germany.

  • Fact: The world views Greece as an EU aid beggar (80 billion USD) and Greeks as high-tempered waiters. 10 million Greeks live in Greece, whereas another 8-10 million live abroad. Foxy Greece kicked out half of her poor population from Greece (they became immigrants in rich countries) and for her remaining population she took 80 million USD aid. In short, Greece deserves her raputation as a waiter exporter and EU aid beggar.

  • Corection: 80 billion USD

  • Again, where did the desert nomad goat herders from Edom find the culture and civilization they are so proud of today? Why are they so attracted to the West rather than south, or East? Who built the monuments that are identified with Turkey today? For example, the architect of Topkapi Palace was a western educated Armenian. Yes the same people the Turks attempted to exterminate.... God bless you. You as a people have much to answer for...

  • Ignorant Grik! It is not the Topapi but the Dolmabahce Palace that was built by an Armenian architect WHO WAS SENT TO EUROPE BY THE TOLERANT OTTOMAN STATE SO THAT HE LEARNS MODERN ARCHITECTURE. HAHAHAHA When the Topkapi Palace was built ( MIDDLE AGE) "Western education" was not popular:)

  • sen müslümanlarlami birlesmek yada turkiyenin bölünmesini istiyen gavurlarlami birlesmek istersin????????

  • Irredentist, racist bs can hardly be defined as " views". The last thing Turks can be called is intolerant.

  • Your aggressive in nature little Turk, but the world knows that you boast in words more than in action...

  • dear all please stop this insult between turk and european guys here do all remember we are human at last ...regarding the turk people let me admit turk deals very agressively and you have no patience for other views ...about european guys or from greece may be if you are better than turkish people you would never reply back like that ....Arabic turkish lady

  • Bilip bilmeden konusma!

  • Istanbul!

    Islambol!

    i love you

  • hey ,if you wanna see faggots and ugly people go to europe .and start your journey from greece.you will find lots of them there.i myself saw them.greek girlss muhaha

  • nephlati what you are saying is true i think the europeans think that only they are smartest people in the world but the indians, chinese and arabic people knew of math, astrologie, science than those arrogant fools it was only because of their discovery of amerika that they than became soo mighty

  • wow turkey is as ugly as the name that represents it, i would rape beautiful greek girls too if i had to settle for turk girls, lol they look like monkeys no wonder they hide their faces, any remotely good looking turk can thank greek blood cuz ur race is just ugly

  • Dear Peter the 'great'

You are as 'beautiful' as What you have written!

  • greeks invented faggotism

  • The middle east treated the Jews MUCH better than the Europeans. Compare Romans with Persians. The Turks treated the Jews better than say... Germany or Spain at that time.

Dont believe me... look up "spanish inquisition".

  • This was one of the greatest military victories in existances. Castles were useless after this point as Constantinople is probably the mightiest castle of all.

Whatever the Europeans can say about the turks, the Turks were still decent enough to treat the people as human beings instead of doing "inquisitions" and "missions" in Africa and America.

  • (I don't think Ataturk or any other of our leaders called Turks "Goyems". But they surely called you Greeks "gavur".)

  • How we dress has nothing to do with EU. I don't think the white skirts you wore were fashionable in Europe either. Do you still walk around with a skirt? So according to your logic Greeks aren't European either. There isn't a European question because Turkish people say NO to Europe. That simple. We don't want them, they don't want us. But anti-Turks may continue to console themselves with fairy tales about how we long for the Europeans lol

  • So don't make sarcastic and unwitty comments showering unless you were the bath attendant of my ancestors. (p.s. From what I've observed Turkish people are hell of a lot cleaner than Europeans.)

  • Vigilante, c'mon, prior to the Persians under Cyrus who conquered the Babylonians they too wore rags and were basic thugs in a dark alley. Its said when Cyrus walked in the Babylonian thrown room and was awed by there fine clothes and surrondings he too wanted it so and reformed his nation. Turks are no different, the evolved from the example of others whereas Greeks set the example through the ages.

  • haha aftos einai asxetos. den me endiaferei. You are like students who jots down everything he knows in an exam without considering whether it is related to the question or not. You make a general comment, which has nothing to do with ancient Turks whatsoever, and then jump on to it with a rehashing of well known prejudices in order to make yourself seem more knowledgeable. So sorry but you awfully remind me of kindergarten kids with your "sure sure"s.

  • You can do better than that little küçük...even an Albanian Gypsy would of commented more rhetorical.

  • Ottomans never copied Persians. If you knew about Ottoman history you'll find very valid reasons that. Ottomans never even liked Persians and some of the Iranians still don't like us because Ottomans erm...*politely* kicked their asses. But the Seljuks were effected a great deal by Persian culture. You Greeks don't know anything about Ancient Turks, we had two different kinds of Turkish alphabeth, we have old writings, a very rich mythology, musical instruments, art work etc.

  • Sure, sure...the Romans never liked the Greeks but still immaculated them. Turkish art I have to say complimented Persian, however was still rooted in copying a Eastern mentor (the arabs and Persians) opposed to a Christian Western.

  • Would you care to watch "Wes Clark on Turkey and the European Union" ? This is a very small example and a narrow view of the whole economy-eu-Turkey love triangle, but I guess it sums it all.

  • I will take your consideration, however, numbers not opinions state facts: Your best friend is the IMF only because it has lent you so much money, $23bn owed to the IMF and billions borrowed via the international bond markets. In the new member states of the European Union, gross public debt is typically about 40% of gross domestic product (GDP) at about 80% of GDP, Turkey's gross debt is double that figure.

  • What year does that $23b belong to? Our debt to IMF is $14b not $23 billion. Plus, US is one of the leading countries on the list when it comes to external debts; according to your logic Moldavia is richer than US. Another incorrect figure is 80 %, according to our government minister Babacan it is 45 %. E.U says it has to be maximum 63% for a member. Perhaps you should stop reading Turkish Daily News.

  • Your words about our 'lira' are incorrect. I find it amusing a Greek talking about Turkey's economy. Oh yes it probably is coming from "oikonomia" but seriously modern Greece has no resemblence with ancient Greece. Alas, we never had European uncles to give us charity. Oh and there are 20 million Greeks on the planet and 10 million of them are living abroad which makes the half of Greeks. Don't tell me they went to other countries because they were so RICH and got bored of Greece.

  • Good day Vigilant, I was on vacation and on my return am glad to see you took the time to write? Anyways, Re: Turkish economy, its a very interesting topic because the worse things get for Turkey the more nervous Europeans get about its admittance, thats wht I find it so interesting, I read the Turkish Daily News every day and smile the more I see a push to invade N.Irag. That invasion will break economically your country.

  • p.s

I love kabob. I hope these long chain of posts will clarify your thought on cultural as well as historical matters.

  • I would love to sit down with you over one of your turkish coffe's and a baclava, your different than your typical loud mouth grey wolf.

  • I will first say with what I agree with your rebuttle, which is about Turkish art. It is beautiful in that its "alive" however, how much of that can you boast, really? When Osman himself before settling on the "stepps" emmulated Persian artistry. Your ancestors hardly showered and as the Romans who were the copiers of all who lived by them, Eutrascans, Greeks, Spaniards, ect, so too were the Turks with Arabs and Persians.

  • so your saying we never "showered" so your saying we were dirty?? it was europe who were shitting in the middle of there houses when we were clean! the ottoman empire was the top of civilization in that time while europeans acted like monkeys!!!!

  • I must add,. Our art lies in the pure balance of colour, line and rhythm in geometric shapes. There is even a period where European aristocrats dressed like Turks. One of their silly trends I suppose:) Miniatures, calligraphy, ceramics, paintings -developed later-, jewelry, leather artwork and many many more.

  • They formulated unique and indigenous styles, themes, and techniques that not only came to characterize the artistic vocabulary of the period, but which also had a lasting impact on Turkish art. The vestiges of that impact are still visible today.

  • Oh and arts! I love Turkish/Ottoman art. Our artists created splendid examples of illuminated and illustrated manuscripts, objects fashioned of gold, silver, jade, rock crystal, ivory, and inlaid wood; ceremonial and functional arms and armor; brocaded satin and velvet kaftans and furnishings; flat-woven and pile rugs; and a variety of ceramic vessels and tiles...

  • This is a very very small example and all of this are only related to Istanbul. Therefore I hardly think people are coming to Istanbul just for Aya Sophia. We can talk about Turkish architecture universally if you please. I have even more to say on that.

  • Turkish baths? Oh yeah, they are great. However they represent a very small section of Ottoman architecture and Ottoman aesthetic perception . Shall I tell you some of them? Palaces, caravanserais, fountains, madrashas, universities -very old ones- , pavilions, mosques, theathers and even baroc styled buildings. For instance Blue mosque in Istanbul is very near Aya Sophia and it is as spectacular as Aya Sophia museum is. One can be oblivious to the art inside it. It is so beautiful.

  • Our topic is about how much you Turks created on your own without having to borrow from your neighbors, even your Kemal reformed you "goyems" to dress and act more European which is still a quest for your politians today. May I ask you an honest question my little Janassary, where do you honestly see Turkey tmrw?

  • I believe we were speaking of Istanbul. Why on earth do you speak of ancient Greece?(wow maths and arts!) If I ask you "how are you?" will you talk about thousands of years ago as well? Funny:) That's why I'll stick to Istanbul. haha how could you compare the fall of the Ottoman Empire (1922) and the fall of Byzantinum (1453)? Historical matters are evaluated according to the circumstances of their time. This is taught in "An introduction to History" I advise you to look it up.

  • I compare the demise of the Ottomans to the Byzantines in there method of collapse, economy my dear tar-tar isnt your best subject and still isnt. Albanian women retain higher reading levels and your lyra is worth less than the tiolet paper I wipped my ass on today.

  • first of all, the only reason greece has a better economy "not even that" is because all the fudnings you got from EU to develope your asses. face it mofo, before greece joined the EU greece was a shithole! and your actually proud of this makes it even funnyer lol.

  • and how much time did greece have to set there economy? since 1821 so thats 186 years. how long did we have to develope our economy??? only 84 years!!! stop being such a smartass idiot.

  • p.s Aya Sofia was a mosque until 1935. (so a mosque for 482 years) It is utterly pathetic that some people dramatize its religious significance and ignore the history of the building. Aya Sofia is only a museum and it'll stay that way as we all know:)

  • Oh vigilante, oh how so comical you are, I pitty you. There are over 113 major sites in Turkey where tourists can view ancient Greek or Byzatine ruins. In addition you can view such spectacles all over the world. Other than a Turkish bath here and there, your world is compartmentalized in your goat herding nation.

  • The fall of Byzantium was a fall glorious tale, after being attacked by Venetians, Crusaders, and many more, the Byzantines still fought and refused to surrender and died while the fall of the Ottomans was an internal economical disease designed by Anglo-Franco governments to weaken the "Central Powers" during WWI, how pathetic was the "Sick man of Europe" that a bunch of limey's and frogs could hold its hand as would a parent to a child and walk it through to it's destruction.

  • yes greek yes.. and after all, what matters in the end is, YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT TURKEY. post after post.. word after word.. insult after insult. THANKS FOR MAKING US THE CENTER OF YOUR WORLD!

  • @ GRKFRK

you say that the byzantines fought and refused to surrender and died while they were trying to protect its empire??? DIDNT WE DO THE SAME IN WW1 WHEN 7 COUNTRYS ATTACKED US YOU FUCKING RETARD?????? the only difference is... our ancestors actually did protect our country from your allies and your gey ass soldiers

  • In the end after what you say, I say, he or she say...congregations of study, ie Universities, students of Math, Art, Music, and so forth all look to the Greeks to learn of...not kabob vendors.

  • luv Turkey!

If foreigners cant imagine a country which is both islamic and democratic, its their problem. But we are!

    nice video:)

  • Why be proud of something you never built? Where are the glorious buildings of the Turks and I dont mean the market to seel dates or dried figs...you cant compare your small reign of 485 Ottoman year to 1100 of Greek Byzantium...

  • There isn't a major Eastern Roman site in Istanbul except Aya Sophia which would be razed in a possible earthquake if ,Mimar Sinan the famous Ottoman architecture didn't mend it. I'll have to write pages and pages if I start talking about what Ottoman Turks built in Istanbul. Just search google. Also I believe you cannot subtract properly. It's 554 years and it wouldn't matter if it was a couple of decades. I strongly recommend you to be content with what you have, while you have it.

  • fckhln watch (kingdom of heaven)look how the muslims took over the city from cristians.

  • Rojland is an asshole and purely jealous son of a bitch, turkey is safer than ever.

  • Rojland is a liar. Do not believe him. Istanbul is just as safe as any other big city. If you are not sure, check with your own foreign ministry or tourism ministry web site.
