This must be public access. I did it on Manhattan Cable TV in the 1980's and the "talent" didn't get much better over the years. I've seen high school kids in TV class who are more polished than her!
Not a bad interview, IMO. You'll have to forgive the written notes - this was before every little podunk station had teleprompters. The interviewer obviously did at least some research before the interview and tried to roll with the non sequitors. She was outnumbered and tried to think on her feet, and actually got some interesting questions out. I think Rick was channelling Lennon and felt he had to answer every question with a witty quip.
Ok, seeing this further. Yeah, the interviewer is exceptionally bad. The band tried but gave up after awhile. All involved should've just called it a day and end this train wreck.
@reburos --ha! That is funny, isn't it. Back in the 'Sick Man of Europe' days they would sometime say they were from Madison, and, occasionally, Philly, ... but you've gotta admit, they really give props to Rockford these days. I was born and raised in Rockford, and lived there for 40 years, but finally had to leave. It ain't safe anymore.
This always makes me laugh! Love how she answers her own questions...I thought Robin was the ballroom dancer. He looks bored shitless. Lucky Bun E. is out of shot most of the time, he is probably asleep :P
@3impersonators Then at 3:13 he reads the question along with the interviewer, and at 3:29 looks over at Tom and repeats it to him, look closely at his mouth and you can see him mouthing the words, haha love it!
Evidently they didn't develop social skills until later on in life. (These days, they're quite fun to to listen to.) At this point in their career, I think a valid question would have been, If you're going to be this aloof, why do any press at all?? I kinda think Rick was putting on an act.
@music3874 I agree. They're young & unpolished including the interviewer.I felt sort of bad for her. The band didn't help esp. Rick who is a smart ass esp. if he doesn't like someone. I've seen him like this in other interviews. Robin at least tried to answer sincerely (he' the nice one of the band) and Tom's good natured as usually. I wonder if bands are forced to give interviews because they clearly looked annoyed from the start.
I'm astounded at how vapid and superficial the girl interviewing them is. The brilliant thing here is the manner in which Rick continually torments her with his outlandish assertions. This must have been excruciating for Tom and Robin, as they're both so polite. Still, it's great fun to watch. This girl is an absolute idiot - it would difficult for anyone to take her seriously.
@Berus7777 polite to an extent. LOL. Robin talks over her mouthing something to Tom at 3:27( LOVE IT...hee hee), that's not polite. He lip reads her notes while she reads out loud, looks at her notes while she looks away, what else....hmmm. He is just naughty. Can't say I would have been much better or worse sitting through the torture. Watch it again. It is hilarious! Tom politely calls her out. Rick is Rick. Bun E. may be trying not to laugh out loud or he is stunned or both.
This is interview is so awesomely bad. CT is great entertainment as always even during this train wreck. Robin, what are you saying to Tom at 3:30? LMAO. Every CT member seems to be in disbelief that they actually experiencing what must be a joke. Ha!
WoW! This lady is about as bright as a cave, and just as dense! Good thing she was wearing a low cut shirt and was cute. I hear coke was pretty damn good back in the 70's. I love it how Robin informs her that she has 4 minutes. Obviously she didn't take the hint that it was four minutes of hell that they had to endure.

Love 3:07 Robin leans over and looks at her other questions. Probably thinking, "Geez, what else is she gonna ask us?"
