There is one profound difference between Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima. Pearl Harbor was done out of want, lust for war. They wanted an empire. Just like Adolph Hitler wanted an empire. No lives were saved because of Pearl Harbor. Hiroshima was done to save lives, not only of American, Japanese, and possibly Soviet troops, but also the lives of Japanese civilians. Think of all of the civilians that would have been killed by bombing or perhaps being forced to fight against the Americans.
this is one of the few arguments in the world that cant be won. It was bad that we did kill millions of innocent people. But America would have lost millions if we didnt finish the war. what japan did was bad and what we did was bad. you cant say that what America did was worse. Although it probably was. It only seems that way becuase we gave the first big punch. Otherwise it could easily be the other way around.
Nuclear weapons killed many japanese people, but on the other hand, how could we stop the u japanese keep killing people from the other country? u said it is not right, why u did talk about what u done in Nanjing China? is that right? necessary? 3 million just one city, now u talking this inhuman thing to us, does not bring your people back, a fortiori other lifes from over the world
The fact is that there is no true morality in war. Every nation in the world has been inhumane at one point in time. There is not need or purpose in defending the immorality of a nation. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Furthermore, passiveness in the face of wrong only serve to the advantage of the wrongdoer. US has been wrong. Japan has been wrong. Every other nations has been wrong. US waged the same war as Japan by invading all of the land that it currently has for example.
And if you don't understand why the bomb was dropped, its because if America had landed on Japan the estimates were at about 1million Americans would be killed, so this was a way of less people dying, and an end to the war.
im not saying the japanese were the major victims but what the U.S. did was wrong they atacked inocent people not even knowing what the bomb was capable of. if they were going to atack they should at least attack the japanese bases.
and then you say "well they attacked purl harber thats what they get"hay i have news for you the japanese at least warned that we were going to attack but guess what the U.S. didnt take it seryously and then when it happend they saw it as unfair
the japanese soldiers raped and killed many filipina women and children too. i think the good thing about the invention of the atomic bomb is that it ended the ambition of the heartless japz in colonizing asia.
they japz should be sorry of what they had done. its something that every japanese generation should remember, a crime that their ancestors have done, and should not justify it by diverting the issue by telling how many japs-women,men and children-died in hiroshima;they should remember how selfish ambitions killed many asians.
the japs were the "bad guys" back then, and now they should not lie to its people and brainwash them by not telling "why" it was dropped. im not saying that we're happy that japs were killed in hiroshima, but if they didnt drop it, im sure bloodshed have continued.
"remeber pearl harbor and the philippines" japs killed my great grandfather!
i agree with you, a lot of Asian people got killed because of the Japanese colonization, specially the Philippines and other countries nearby. i can still remember the story of my grandfather talking about how Japanese were so cruel and abusive.
----- they also killed his father.
i think japan should also think about the lives of the people they destroyed before.
but I'm not saying that i am happy about the Hiroshima tragedy.
How many killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? 200,000 to 300,000.During WWII Japanese killed 6 million in China alone. If you count rest of Asia then you get over 10 million lives killed by the Japanese from the beginning of their colonization in the early 20th century to the end of WWII..Why is Japan saying they are the victims of WWII(?)& continue to Whitewash their history books still never apologizing UNEQUIVOCALLY? All Japanese good and bad, please go and look in the mirror...
It is so absurd and sad, to see the peace memorial & peace day in Hiroshima being used as portraying the Japanese as the major victims of WWII, but quietly skimming over WHY the bombs were dropped and ignoring that millions of lives had already been killed by the Japanese & these bombs were used to put an end to Japanese bloody Rampage through Asia from the beginning of 20th century(Japanese Colonialism) to end of WWII. Japan, your hands are still bloody & your lies to this day so clear.
It was a great speech. It is a pity that some Japanese citizens are not allowed to enter these contests. The reason is there blood is not pure. If you are born in Japan. If you went to school in Japan. Yet the hue of your skin is off....you need not enter. You are not worthy.
I think she meant that "as a child" she represented the future and in that regard must form the resolve with other like minded children to do away with nuclear weapons in the future.
that was a nice speech and i really admire that girl's writing ability and speaking ability.. but still, the part about americans not learning there lesson is wrong. i don't know a single person who thinks it was right to bomb hiroshima and i think it's horrible about the person who said 'remember pearl harbor' i am ashamed to be the same race as them...

There will always be nuclear weapons.
And if you don't understand why the bomb was dropped, its because if America had landed on Japan the estimates were at about 1million Americans would be killed, so this was a way of less people dying, and an end to the war.
