Well the fact that we are tied into two Middle East countries because of the "war on terror" as a direct result of the attack of 9-11 does mean that liberty minded people should be concerned about a real investigation as to what happened on 9-11. Congressman Paul does believe that a proper investigation should be done and I'm sure it's the same reasoning as he gives here for auditing The Fed; when the proper investigation is done you find all truths and not just the ones you believe.

As I suspected, it's not that Dr. Paul dismisses 9-11 truth -- it's just that (from his perspective) he can be more effective politically (e.g. against the fed) if he is not allied with the truth movement. It may not be what informed citizens would like, but we aren't privy to the things he knows -- so it's probably best not to judge. Things change; I hope he's able to "Come out" some day...

Have you seen gold prices lately? $1130/oz. Gold is Hedged against Inflation. Dollar index is down to 75.01! Don't forget about "Petro-dollars" regarding Perceived value.
Less than 6% of the country's money is actually monetized. The USDX is down because of trading and speculation, not because of actual value. The CPI is actually in good shape: 218.783 in Sept of last year to 215.969 in Sept of this year. The economy, and therefore the dollar, is actually deflating at the moment (have you paid any attention to the falling housing prices?), and that is why traders are pushing there money into gold--not to hedge the $ Index, gold is probably in a bubble.
Though, I do believe that there are some genuine structural problems with the fractional reserve ideology, it doesn't seem likely that the US market place will peter out because of hyper-inflation; more likely it will be a continuous slide towards waning production capacity. Which is why the government is dumping so much into 'green' infrastructure.
Our massive trade deficit over the past century or so will mean that the US will degrade unless new, and definitely more localized, industries are built. But, if the US was going to disintegrate, it wouldn't be with a loud, smashing catastrophe; it would be with a steady decline of domestic production, and increasing reliance on foreign goods.

The dollar paper used to be a certificate to exchange for Gold or Silver coin. What it cost (price) to buy a tailored suit in 1910 (1 oz of $20 gold coin) is the same Value as buying one today at $1000. The Value has not change much but the amount of Paper increased (Price) .
milliencollin, you seem to ignore the foundation of economics, and that's scarcity. Something as plentiful as paper is nothing compared to the value of gold, which is a scarce material. To make a long story short, scarcity determines value.
What I'm saying is that a currency needs a standard, and scarcity determines the value of that standard, hence influencing the price fluctuations of that particular currency.
I would say that the US dollar is a standard. In fact most things, including gold, are measured in value against the dollar--not against precious metals. And while it would be true that something plentiful, like paper, isn't comparable to a scarce and precious mineral; US dollars aren't just paper. They are certifications of payment from the most powerful economy in the world. Further, scarcity in currency is artificial. But scarcity in gold means a cap on growth. No fiat currency, no growth.

I still kind of think Ron Paul is the best of politicians out there. Would be nice to see him and Traficant run on the same ticket.
THough after dropping out of the past race, I feel he wasted alot of people's time and money.
WHich makes me wonder if all he was was a diversion to take away support from any other 3rd party canidate, until it was too late for any other 3rd party to run, since most people had thrown Paul all their money. Should have stayed in the republican race to the end.

Thank you for asking these questions! As I suspected, it's not that Dr. Paul dismisses 9-11 truth -- it's just that (from his perspective) he can be more effective politically (e.g. against the fed) if he is not allied with the truth movement. It may not be what informed citizens would like, but we aren't privy to the things he knows -- so it's probably best not to judge. Things change; I hope he's able to "Come out" some day...

Ron Paul is a very active man, and can't deal with everything by himself. He's already being attacked by the mainstream media as being associated with "conspiracy theorists," he needs a popularity increase on his libertarian, free market, constitutional policies atm, which he is known for without other issues getting in the way. 9.11 is past, and he needs to focus on the core of all problems, the unconstitutional issuance of currency by the Fed.

Government does not produce anything. The private sector does. Why have government collect taxes and reach out to the "selected" private sector to get something done?
There is a role for a Central Bank, "To Steal from the People." There is a reason why our Constitution states that Congress should only coin money. We did very well until 1913. Why pay a Private bank The Fed an Interest when you don't have to? Do you know how the Fed was created?

To believe that, while simultaneously discussing fiat currency--which is basically imaginary money that only has value because people believe it does--is a little strange. Do you really believe that an imaginary form of currency can't be propped up by its creators? Especially when the creators of this imaginary currency are the strongest power in the world?

Less than 6% of the country's money is actually monetized. The USDX is down because of trading and speculation, not because of actual value. The CPI is actually in good shape: 218.783 in Sept of last year to 215.969 in Sept of this year. The economy, and therefore the dollar, is actually deflating at the moment (have you paid any attention to the falling housing prices?), and that is why traders are pushing there money into gold--not to hedge the $ Index, gold is probably in a bubble.

Though, I do believe that there are some genuine structural problems with the fractional reserve ideology, it doesn't seem likely that the US market place will peter out because of hyper-inflation; more likely it will be a continuous slide towards waning production capacity. Which is why the government is dumping so much into 'green' infrastructure.

I am a little confused by your logic though; you said that the US should switch back to the gold standard, because gold is a tangible good, where paper money is, well, paper. Then you said that gold has increased in value (AKA: inflated) by astronomical proportions. Then you said that nothing tangible inflates. So which is it?

The dollar paper used to be a certificate to exchange for Gold or Silver coin. What it cost (price) to buy a tailored suit in 1910 (1 oz of $20 gold coin) is the same Value as buying one today at $1000. The Value has not change much but the amount of Paper increased (Price) .

I would say that the US dollar is a standard. In fact most things, including gold, are measured in value against the dollar--not against precious metals. And while it would be true that something plentiful, like paper, isn't comparable to a scarce and precious mineral; US dollars aren't just paper. They are certifications of payment from the most powerful economy in the world. Further, scarcity in currency is artificial. But scarcity in gold means a cap on growth. No fiat currency, no growth.

Second, This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private means that, if offered, one has to accept the bill as a legitimate form of payment under the law. That is a certification of payment. A promissory note is not acceptable as a payment in most places, and if it were, the only way to enforce its payment would be to take someone to court and for them to pay You guessed it: Dollars! In no way shape or form is the dollar a promissory note—in fact, it is the exact opposite.

From what i can tell, he doesn't want the USA to simply take a neutral stance -- he simply wants the USA to stop taking advantage of other countries by, for example, stealing their resources. To be more specific, it's not the USA itself that is doing this, but rather a group of people who are using the USA as a tool because the American people are not paying attention and allowing their country to be used. Since you don't seem to get it, maybe an example will help you. In 1964, a quarter would buy you a gallon of gas. Today, that gallon of gas costs nearly $3. Today, a 1964 quarter is worth a bit over $3 due to its silver content. A 1964 quarter would buy a gallon of gas in 1964, and it would do so today. We use pretend money. It's great for growth, yes -- but it could screw us all in the end.

I believe that the Fed's private banks (and God knows who or what else) owns the majority of the world's wealth and therefore the IMF more than likely would do whatever the leaders of the Fed asked regarding monetary policy/rates/debt collection.
