  • smh im starting to despise that old bitch now...his track record proves over and over he should not be ringside...let him do ringside of WWE or something...he dont know shit about boxing

  • Larry merchant strokes pacquiaos dick every day. After all him and bob arum has were involved in a lemon party. Fucking jews ruining boxing. SHUT THE FUCK UP LARRY U DONT GIVE FIGHTERS THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE. HOW WOULD U LIKE TO TRAIN FOR 7 MONTHS AND THEN WIN A FIGHT ONLY TO HAVE A OLD FART BAG SAY do u think that fight was interesting ? FUCK THIS OLD JEW BAG. BOXING IS NOT A SLUG FEST. This faggot thinks pacquiao is the best

  • larry merchant doesn't sound as drunk as usual in that sound bite, lol. By the way, did HBO fire him after that mayweather fight? Haven't seen larry merchant since then, not that he would be missed

  • Larry Merchant=Cunt

    Mayweather, Roy Jones=Legends

  • Max Kellerman is better than Larry Merchant. Larry is a hater. Max Kellerman gives respect to any boxer he interviews.

  • Don King, Bob Arum and Larry Merchant have destroyed boxing! Larry sits there, and acts like it pains him to watch the sport that he's suppose to be convincing the fans that they spent their money on a good product. How does HBO keep this guy?

  • Now Mayweather joins Roy, B-Hop and many more... Larry, YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BOXING!!!

  • Larry Merchant questioning a professional boxer?....What an idiot...just shut up and watch...

  • Roy Jones has to be the worst commentator HBO has ever had on the show. Please bring back George Foreman.

  • I don't think RJj put Larry Merchant in his place. I think his reply was very dignified.

  • Larry Merchant is a jealousy piece of shit, he just hate every fighter, Foreman got mad at the infamous decission of Moorer-Holyfield and Merchant and Lampley did a turnabout when the money involved attacked the HBO.

He had to took the heavyweight title himself that´s my big george

  • Larry has been senile his entire life. I've learned to laugh at his asinine commentary and enjoyed watching Lampley ( one of the smartest sports commentators ever) laugh in his face and roll his eyes all through the 80's and 90's.

  • Roy Jones doesn't know shit. fighthing out of work cops his entire career until the end.

  • @eagleskins actually he knows better than Larry, you or me due to his experience in the ring

  • which Pac Morales fight was this???

if it was 2 or 3 then Merchant got it right. if it's the first one than Roy is spot on. ; )

  • @BenVereen2020 looks like the 1st fight to me.

  • Let the fighters do the fighting...respect that...and let the watchers watch!

  • Larry is the biggest douche in the history of boxing commentators.

  • Larry Merchant is a fucking legend.

  • @meancawksucker is he the guy that always tell stories about the 1940's??

  • @neoimean7 Probably, he's Old School.

  • @meancawksucker there once was a kid from kentucky.........who once told me.........if you get into the ring and fight with a mask on.......you wont know what your hitting untill it bounces off the floor......that my friends was a guy by the name of cassius clay

  • Max Kellerman is the New Larry Merchant..real sarcastic and such a 2 face with the Boxers like hes better than them Only cause he knows they wont swing @ him…lil Prick.

  • Has larry ever boxed? or sparred?

  • I believe Roy over Larry any day when it comes to boxing...

  • Those who can't do, commentate.

  • Thats larrys thing he knows all !!! along with everyone over 50 yrs old ,they been there and done that .. I guess so

  • Larry Merchant does come across as an arrogant condescending prick...

  • That awkward moment when Larry Merchant is commentating.

  • They should give sugar ray leonard a job on HBO

  • they should fire merchant and loud mouth jim

  • roy jones to replace larry merchant

  • old fart

  • larry merchant is a annoying man always asking the dumpest questions...did that punch hurt you,did the jab wake you up like it looked like it did lol...shut up larry

  • Roy jones was a wiked fighter but needs to know when to stop. I mean seriously saying he wants to challenge haye for a heaveyweight title now is ridiculous. Danny Green just caned him in the first round in cruiserweight, if he cannot take those sort of punches and continue there is NOOOOOOOO chance for him against hayemaker. Fk knows why he would even consider that an option.

  • fuck I hate this guy. Almost as much as i hate Max Kellerman.

  • Fucking Merchant loves Pac Man. He wants to have his children. Can't say a single bad word about him. Man I'm streaming HBO when Mayweather Pac happens next year. Just so I can hear Merchant cry when Floyd Stretches out his bitch

  • @ColourboyMarkyboy Not in this life, Pacman is going to beat the shit out of him, pure math, Gayweather is a chicken shit, avoiding Pacman n all, with all the runnig he does in the fights, he should be running a marathon not boxing, but yes I really hate that old fag of Merchant, big mouth bitch

  • @sly717 Pacman is the one ducking Floyd....LOL

  • @BlackPoisonxX Yeah sure, so now the entire world of boxing is mistaken and only you know the truth, Pacman ducking Floyd, yeah right

  • @BlackPoisonxX floyd retired LOL

  • @ColourboyMarkyboy Let's be honest...both are great fighters, but Mayweather has been ducking Pac

  • Haha Roy Jones is a legend, Fuck Larry Merchant and his bullshit

  • @farrell360 agree

  • what..... this is a bullshit video. makes no sence at all.

  • fuck larry that motherfucker chat shit

  • Larry Merchant is biased, racist, and dumb lol

  • i knew what was going to be said before i clicked the video

  • pacman is not great in this time ... that's why there is a room for improvement :) ... and he continues to learn and learn and learn every fight ... and adopted his opponent power too. .

  • it's obvious that merchant is sucking pacquiaos dick...because roy is rite...pacquiao ended up losing this fight...

  • Merchant sucks ANY crowd-idol's dick. -> The crowd doesn't like Mayweather: he disses Mayweather. The crowd praises Klitschko: he defends Klitschko... etc.

And geez, it's almost depressing how that haughty cunt knows so little about boxing.

    Merchant is a fame-sucker. :-)

  • Jones was so right.

  • @mybrotherjesus78 you dont even have common sence let alone know anything about boxing. you probably just some 15 year old kid but if im wrong then that just makes you even dumber. Mayweather is a man just like anyone else and every man has his weakness and can be beaten! i admit he is an extreamly talented fighter but i believe pacquiao's offensive talents, south paw speed and workrate would be all that it is needed to beat floyd! Name one fighter better than pacquiao that floyd has beaten?

  • @Darrensafc01 Talk about nailing the coffin. I agree with you. BTW did you see the Mayweather-Mosley fight, Mayweather almost got knocked out twice but Mayweather held on to him. RIGHT NOW, Manny Pacquiao is agreeing to fight with Mayweather, but now it's delayed again because sopposely Mayweather's trainer, Roger Mayweather, has to go to court because of his assault on a female boxer. ESPN says IF there's going to be a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, it would be around May 2011. "IF"... -_-

  • @Darrensafc01 name one fighter better then floyd who manny has beat? i say both marquez and mosley are at least as good as manny. mosley is up for debate but marquez has proven that he's on manny's level and floyd destroyed him easily. so you tell me one fighter that manny beat that's even in floyd league? i bet you cant name me a fighter that manny beat with even a simular style to floyd to floyd.

  • @slimithy12 yup floyd is quick on his feet not really a stand in the middle n slug it out like marquez n manny but morales was in n out alot n manny lost i agree wit u

  • @slimithy12 educate urself with floyds win sheet. not very impressive.

  • @mraperish and manny's is?? like i said ,name me one fighter who manny beat that floyd couldnt. until then STFU!

  • @slimithy12 how bout we re-phrase troll, name one fighter that manny beat that floyd would DODGE. lol. that list has a fair few names. just look at mannys win list to find that out. wiki.org. its easy to look up.

  • @mraperish so true, floyd ducked diaz, marquez, oscar, hatton and clottey right?....lol. your an idiot! if you cant name me one fighter who manny beat who floyd aint already beat or couldnt beat easily then just fuck off.

  • @slimithy12 If i continued this I would look as much of a fool as you look.

  • @mraperish lmao! you cant continue this cos pac has beaten nobody who floyd hasnt or couldnt. so i fully understand you running off with your tail between your leg's. next time dont start shit that you cant finish, it just make's you look even more stupid then you already are.

  • @mraperish COTTO.

  • Respond to this video... MARGARITO.

  • @mybrotherjesus78 Cotto faught a great fight against pacquiao and was at 100% hatton was undefeated at JR welterweight and just had 2 wins over lazcano and malignaggi! pacquiao was outboxed by morrales in the first fight but then came back and knocked him out twice which no other fighter had ever done! and as far as pacquiao using steriods is concerned if you believe that the your an idiot! PACQUIAO AGREED to blood testing you uneducated little child! it was floyd who wouldnt sign the contract!!

  • @mybrotherjesus78 Floyd is a very good fighter and i respect his ring skills and if your talking about pac fighting de la hoya then YES! he was drained but look at the other fighters he has faced. Faught morrales 3 times who was a world champion, marquez twice!, ricky hatton who was UNBEATEN at 140 and had ruled that devision for over 6 years and miguel cotto who's only defeat was against margarito who he completely dominated for 7-8 rounds and lost to due to illegal handraps worn by margarito!!

  • @mybrotherjesus78 Floyd is a masterful fighter with NO heart! he ducks anyone who is a threat to his unbeaten record and for that will never be considered great! Pacquiao, Cotto, margarito and an "in his prime" shame mosley just to name a few! now look at pacquiao's 56 opponents compared to floyds 41 and then come back and tell me floyd is better? bet you cant!

  • tell him again roy

  • Roy Jones is one punchy fucked up motherfucker.

Green SMASHED him into oblivion. Now he has brain trauma.

  • I actually thought RJ did a good job a few days ago. I'm glad HBO brought him back. People might not like how harsh his criticism is, but he knows boxing & he is brutally honest about what's going on.

Roy pointed out that Foreman's was fighting for survival in Round 3. Kellerman disagreed and said nonsense. Roy pointed out that Foreman was not a knockout fighter but was throwing a lot of power punches because he realized he couldn't dance around him the way he thought. Kellerman didn't respond.

  • i love dat 1, if sum1 beat u in an argument over boxing, 'wel uve nvr boxed be4 so u dnt no what its like' hahaha

  • Pacquiao still knocked out morrales twice and is the current pound for pound king! and DONT hate because roy jones jr is one of my favorite fighters of all time! Im not a pac tard! im a boxing fan not an idiot.

  • lol Shut your filthy mouth Larry Merchant. Fuckin Pactard

  • Larry might've been wrong and Roy might've been right on the issue at hand, but Larry was definitely right when he said it's just a disagreement. You don't have to box to have an opinion.

  • @NYCHeavyHitz212 no, but if youve never boxed before then your opinion is fatally flawed. Guys like Larry Merchant have no respect for the sport of boxing- all they wanna see is blood guts and two guys beating the shit out of eachother and some guy getting his hand raised at the end. That aint boxing. This dude is the lowest sack of shit in the sport and is a fucking disgrace. Hope he gets hit by a bus

  • @mikespikeforlife yea bro i remember watching the morales vs barrera rematch and he actually said they had waited for the rematch for nothing and it was a good fight to me not as exciting as the first one but a solid fight none the less

  • wth.. i dont get it? wat happned?

  • oo lok at larry trying to defent his prescious little Pacroid like the dumbass pactard he is

  • larry merchant is a fucking retard

  • roy knows it :D

  • roy was right

  • laarry dnt kno shit...

  • Larry Merchant should watch the fight at home because he hasn't got a clue when it comes to interviewing a fighter, he stumbles around looking for words and I think he should hang em up. Get somone in there who can put more then three words together.

  • is that manny pac??

  • @HeIIoHater yep!

  • Merchant is a bit old and Lampley I like (although he could do with a great deal more cynicism). The real problem is that other, younger, guy - the one who asked Calzaghe to fight Tarver.

  • classic roy talk. if you want vintage roy jones - look for his post-fight interview after the Glen Kelly fight. He smack talks Hopkins and then literally throws his towel down in front of Tarver (who was standing watching 9ft away).

  • Hah a guy who only talks shit tell a guy that he's wrong about his opinion on his profession. I wish Roy would've punched him.

  • FUCK larry merchant, he's the skip bayless of boxing...never a positive word FUCK LARRY

  • @donwelshimer I agree, however, I don't think Merchant is a fag like Skip Bayless is.

  • @donwelshimer unless he's talking about manny, then he's like a screaming fan.

  • @donwelshimer larrysw cool hes just a sorry dickhead and a mayweather hater

  • @donwelshimer HAHA! Seriously... he's like a fuckin cranky old woman, always nagging and complaining.

  • @donwelshimer lol don i dont even thinks his wife wife wants to fuck him lol

  • Fuck, Larry Merchant is sick, that clown who was there instead of him at the Pacquiao fight should be fired.

    We want Larry back!

  • was roy jones talkin english in the first few secs ?

  • no it was negrobonics

  • LOL

  • @DetroitLionsForLife I feel sorry for you...racist and a Lions fan; you're life is depressing...KILL YOURSELF!!!

  • Sad how this long line of boxing so-called historians like Larry Merchant are allowed to lay down the narrative to the goings on in boxing. I would much rather listen to Roy Jones or George Foreman's comments on a fight. Actually most true fight fans have a better perspective on what is going on in a fight. Larry Sucks!!!

  • @historyjoe2011 Yeah, Teddy Atlas would be WAY better in his spot but HBO probably doesn't think he's photogenic enough. Kellerman is a much needed replacement.

  • @historyjoe2011 yeh you and all you other idiots know nothing compared to hbo's boxing expert larry merchant and i

  • @historyjoe2011

Jones can offer valuable insight in small doses - he's good at spotting the technical nuances of the action - but he's not capable of calling a fight from start to finish. George Foreman? His commentating is an absolute joke! Not one intelligent statement ever came out of his mouth calling a fight. Larry may take a week to get a sentence out, but what he has to say is usually pretty astute.

In fairness, Larry and Roy BOTH rely on Jim Lampley to carry them through a call.

  • @garethac81 you must don't know dick about boxing yourself.

  • @sammyp25

Considering you can't even construct a grammatically correct sentence, I don't think your opinion carries much weight.

  • @historyjoe2011 hes old, let him do his thing. remember wen u get old people gonna say things to aswell and u wont like but u wont be able to say shit.

wat roy said was embarrasing to Larry. HE told larry he aint ever boxed so shut the f up. thats rude, its right but rude.

i know im going over the top with this but wat goes around comes around.

notice how people are calling roy old and out of date to his face, and he cant do shit about cuz its the truth. he aint the same fighter as he was.

  • I guess only boxers should be allowed as commentators on fights. of course, most of them will have to go to school to learn how to speak and use the english language properly. a class in etiquette and simple manners might help, too.

  • @kenzo5716 ok maybe boxers arent the most intellectual guys out there, well not maybe its true! but i rather listen to roy's insight then to have listen to that merchant thats for sure!

  • True, Roy is a better fighter than Larry Merchant is. But Larry is a better commentator and Roy didn't have to be rude with Larry. It doesn't hurt to have manners and be respectful of people, especially with someone like Larry Merchant, who can help you out with a network job when you can't fight any longer. Heck, Howard Cosell wasn't a fighter, but he was a great commentator. Red Barber wasn't a great baseball player, but he was certainly a great sportscaster. Thanks for commenting.

  • Negative. Larry has never EVER denied his Bias toward pacman. He disagreed with Roy because he didn't like Roy talking bad about pacman. Roy put him in his place.

  • We agree to disagree.

  • @kenzo5716 I agree. Not only that, having two different perspectives on what's going on can make for interesting commentary. But like Larry said there was no need to pull rank. I like Roy, but I think he was out of line here.

  • I like Roy as a fighter. And, to RJ fans he probably came off well at smarting off to Larry. But, to millions of other viewers, who heard his rant, he came off as a smart-mouthed, sassy punk. Too bad for Roy. He was the real loser in this face-off. Actions like that hurt you further down the line and I think you know what I mean. Why burn bridges, especially with a man like Larry Merchant, who can open many doors for you? Like they say..."More men are hanged by their tongues than by ropes!"

  • @kenzo5716 Very true. And if you noticed, over the past several years you haven't seen Roy on HBO all that much. Not saying this was a direct result of that. But he used to be a regular color commentary for HBO boxing. Not anymore. Larry often comes off as a bit of a prick himself. But commentating is his job. He shouldn't have to put up with shit like that. I used to box. And I realize even if Larry never laced up the gloves he's been around long enough to know the game.

  • morales fucked paquiao up in this fight

  • yeah, If your not a boxer shut the fuck up about pacquiao and maywether

  • Yet Merchant was right, look who won the fight.

  • Yes he was so right that Morales kicked his butt. You dumb fuck.

    VIVA MEXICO !!!

  • Morales won not Manny

  • Morales won the fight... Roy was saying that Pacquiao's confidence was gone, and Merchant disagreed.

So I suppose that Merchant was actually wrong, because Morales won the fight.

  • yeah I never got that. how can you have someone who hasn't competed calling the bouts.

  • erato, this is pac-morales II...pac won, so it was an overstatement...they are in round 4 and pac knocked him down in the 10th

  • @sinfony78 this was the first pacquiao morales fight, pac lost

  • @sinfony78no, its the first fight homey

  • both are correct in their own perspective but he must respect the old man

  • Floyd Mayweather Sr. sounds worse lol

  • He sounds considerably good...for a boxer. I guess the "cautious Roy" theory came in handy : P

  • hahaha, and of course larry will disagree, any comment against pac and larry retaliates

  • @bigpoopie69 and you sound like my dick is in your mouth hater

  • attention PAC TARD

  • @bigpoopie69 not at all, thats james toney

  • @bigpoopie69 roy jones just sounds like.....a guy who knows what he's talking about.

  • Pacuiao did lose that fight, so maybe Roy was right.

  • @erato99 yh lol

  • larry actually puts *roy in his place: "we can disagree w/o having to pull rank". great comeback

  • I disagree.

A statement like "we can disagree without having to pull rank" is statement that's meant to avoid a proper logical rebuttal against what was argued, which means Larry was the one that was a loss for words in terms of the actual discussion.

    Think again.

  • I think that was actually him waving the white flag, lol.

  • Roy Jones is a GREAT fighter and a bright man, but he was WAY out of line with Merchant. It is unprofessional to say, You never played the game.

In fact, if we name the great fight writers -- Liebling, Hemingway, Mailer, Bill Nack -- who among them -- except perhaps Jose Torres -- was a pro fighter?

  • Most of them probably atleast had amatuer experiance which is probably more than you can say for Larry Merchant.

  • You may or may not be right, but I am trying to make a different point. If you, as a color commentator, show up the blow by blow guy -- your colleague, who has by the way decades of experience in the racket -- I wouldn't exactly call that a good career move. Who would want to work with a guy who calls you out on the air?

And by the way, Roy should go for elocution lessons if he wants to work on TV. It is hard for a lot of people to strain to catch what he is saying. LEARN THE TRADE.

  • lol real talk-hate when peeps say shit, and never boxed b4

  • I think everyone boxed at least one time in their life. Anyway, as a sports commentator I'm sure he knows way more about boxing and the old timers than any of us do so he can say what he wants. Although he does sound drunk or on Oxycontin half the time he gives an interview. lol, I'd love to go back to being a 17 and driving to a Tyson Fight in 98 listening to Pac with some friends and stay at the MGM Grand. To bad Vegas is gay as fuck now.

  • for those spouting the lofty ideals of broadcast journalism remember this: roy was hired as a color commentator, not a reporter. his job is to bring his experience to the broadcast and apply it where he sees fit, he's not so much like a journalist as he is a feature writer

  • Regardless what title you wnat to bestow on him, Jones still has to adhere to the norms consistent IN a broadcast booth. In this case , he does not do that.

When calling a fight, Mr Jones has to remember this:

Even if you WERE the boxer you are now a commentator, and as such you are now subjected to an entirely different set of rules. Only those with lofty ideals need apply.

  • regardless roy jones just dont give a fuck

  • Sure seems like it.....or doesn't know any better.

  • lofty ideals is what you are preaching, its just a boxing match and we boxing fans want to listen to good commentators, not to drunk larry merchant and this stupidity, its so refreshing to listen to a guy like jones, who was an excellent boxer and speaks his mind, to put dumbass in his place!

  • You find a thuggishness refreshing friend ?? Are those the ideals you are preaching......you must not be a preacher.

  • why do you inquire with such puzzlement of thuggishness, whatever you may mean by that assertion? i do not preach my friend, for i am a witness and believe everyone has a path to take to see their own version of enlightenment, the last thing i enjoy seeing upon this earth is prosletyzing, which is an accomplice to the new world order of trickery and tricknology via illuminati means to dumbfound us, so no my friend i preach no ideal but my own, and as such are the opinions on this fistic forum

  • lol get off of youtube

  • lol okay im off, til manhana...got to watch the hoops, but tomorrow glendog has a chance to revenge againts awesome dawsome

  • You said you found listening to Roy Jones refreshing,I thought his response to Merchant was thuggish. I posed the question to clarify is all.

Don't you think Jones was rude at best. I mean he disagreed and he just went at him Merchant with the most obvious weapon at his disposal. The fact that HE was a boxer and Merchant was'nt, so naturaly he must be right .

But even more obvious, just listen to his tone of voice.

That is WAY way uncalled for....unless one is a thug that is ....

  • perhaps according to your sensibilities with regard to tone and choice of words or what have you, i am a thug then, cuz as a commentator i hear jones explaining boxing perspective of what erik morales is doing to manny and soon as he is done with a good point, its vodka breath whose tone I find offensively paternalistic saying "oh well i think thats an overstatement Roy!..considering such and such, after which roy responds nicely in my view, i would have leaned over and slapped that old fool

  • but you have to take what i say w/ a grain, cuz i am definitely biased, i hate that old piece of shit, its only slightly better than listening to ferdie pacheco, annoying to hear a non boxer and heavy vodka drinker try to give his writer's perspective like the frustrated novelist that he is, and pontificates and says -a bunch of crap if you ask me, i know i would say exactly like roy, shut the hell up cuz you never boxed, unlike guys like foreman or leoanard or lewis who KNOW the ring

  • @flyinghotwing

Nope ! Jones' comment is totally subjective and can be challenged at any level. If it was a strategic comment ( jabs and hooks) and the no-non boxer challeges it, then Jones' response would have been more remotely appropriate.

The entire point is that an old man MUST be respected.

Then again who's to say .If Merchant gets fired, you may end up having to reach over and slap Jones or Lewis instead.....lets just hope your thuggery doesn't betray you then.

  • dont know about betrayal/ thuggery(your interpretation), just a matter of taste, you may like/ respect the old vodka breath assbite, i personally cant stand his stupidity, his ego- filled rants that go way above most viewers' heads, he is an anachronistic piece of filth, and i dont have to respect a man who is not worthy of it, its all a matter of choice and/or principle....i enjoy listening to roy or jim lampley or anyone else when they put him in his place, and yes i would slap him!

  • @flyinghotwing

What would you like to see happen to Merchant.?

  • i would love to see merchant float on into retirement, get off the screen for big fights and have his vodka and tonie at home or somewhere else, so we the viewers are not subjected to his ridiculous diatribes, that are shot way above the average viewer's head....nice old guy and all but stay off the screen and let other folks in there, like bug eyed kellerman who is more to the point and while irksome to some i find him refreshing by comparison....cheers and happy twentyten

  • @flyinghotwing

Very well, just two different points of views is all.

Take care, and cheers to you as well.

  • I want to see Merchant and Floyd Mayweather go toe to toe.

  • You mean in a debate, men have to confront / compete with each other in a discipline where NON have a distinct advantage.

  • Mercant would win. Mayweather is to scared. He would run away.lol. Mayweather sucks balls. Big hairy balls. And his fans are wannabee gangstas. lol

  • ...and you're a wannabe bestiality porn star!! Run and tell that!!

  • are you saying all old men should be respected because they are old?

  • @flyinghotwing

For the most part YES, that is what I'm saying.

There where men I wasn't too fond of when I was younger. Today, I still don't like them but if I where to disagree or get angry at them.. I would take there age into consideration. To my understanding, this is pretty much a universal thinking.

  • Are they paid to give there opinions to millions?

  • Larry Merchant was a jack ass. He always had some dumb shit to say. Jim Lampley is an ass too.

  • larry yes an ass, jim is good and dont talk so much trash....no comparison..

  • Jim gets annoying when he constantly backs a hometown fighter...or the fighter with most crowd support

  • roys a funny fucker...lol!

  • There are a lot of boxers who know more about boxing than Roy Jones. Roy relied on physical ability and eschewed technique. Who is to say who is allowed an opinion? I also agree that Roy doesnt know what is going through Pac Man's head.

  • I think a pro boxer would know alot more about the psychology of boxing more than an "expert" that never got in the ring.
