lol really? basically what she was saying is that she's helping biochemist tell the difference between different enzymes and such, because their structures play a major factor in how they function. like 2 different enzymes might be made of the same chemicals but simply being twisted a different way greatly changes its effect on your body. figuring out the math part is pretty crazy considering she's just a high school senior.
@BECstudios She stated because you can uniquely identify biology related structures, which directly corresponds with its function. (for example DNA strands?)
If you show a pair of that type of knot are different with that invariant, does it mean that R^3 minus one of them and R^3 minus the other one are not homeomorphic?
You are a cool kid. I'm old but am now inspired to dig up my Crowell and Fox book and read.
...im on math team and i have to figure out an experiment for the knot theory..no biology plz im a freshmen that sux at biology and damn shes smart and nerdy!! i wish she could give me a simple intro on knot theory
Grow up! This video was not created for your personal use. Finding what you you need is your problem, not hers. Why don't you go find a live human being to ask?
well. at least give some compliments to the lady... she worked very hard on an arduous math theory that could lead to breakthroughs in DNA studies and biology. have some sense.
this girl owns my math and biology teachers

Grrr coming across this while trying to write my paper on the applications of braids in knot theory both inspires and depresses me.

@BECstudios other biochem researchers can use the delta invariant to uniquely classify organic molecules.

@bleeshpo Knots are considered equivalent up to ambient isotopy of the ambient space (usually the 3-sphere, the one-point compactification of R^3).

If a kid is really, really good at basketball, he might skp college and go straight to the NBA.
Can this young lady skip college and go right to grad school on the same theory?
