I thought about doing this one time but I piece of great advice I saw on TV about cooking a steak on a cast iron pan was: tilt the pan so that the meat does not fry in its own melted fat.
It does make sense though, cause I wouldn't want a "fried" steak but cooked on a cast iron pan.
Then again, I still like to grill outside the house regardless of the temperature outside, even during freezing weather I still do it.
But yeah, next time try tilting the pan, so the fat runs away from the steak
@modelslist I personally prefer a nice thick rib eye. The cap that surrounds the eye is probably the best piece of meat I've ever had. I usually tear it off and cook it beside the eye cut. You could cook the hell out of it and it'll still be juicy.
@kuruptzZz I was thinking the same thing lol..."you're gonna flip that steak? yea? you are huh. ooh you're a dirty litttle piece of meat aren't you?" lol
@dubbedcrazy .... go for it! not a whole lot of difference tho... other than the grill marks and being a little healthier as the grease drains away. i have both and you wont regret picking one up.
Basically, it's high heat (as high as your stove top will go) for about 2 - 3 minutes a side depending on thickness. Some people like to finish it in the oven but I prefer my steaks charred on the outside and rare/med rare on the inside. This method works best with steaks thicker than 1 inch.
@VWA2MKII Basically, to me at least, besides the weather condition, I pan them like this for the juiciness, and when I want a smoke flavor, it goes on the grill. Why do you call the grill BBQ?

I usually cook my steak on the BBQ outside, but I thought i'd give this a try because of your video.
It tastes great!! I still prefer to cook it on the BBQ outside, but this will work out great in the cold winter!
Five star video for the inspiration!
