I've driven the Honda Element for 4.5 years now. It's been very reliable and very comfortable as the driver, but this vehicle presents some difficulties. First, it is quite underpowered. I struggle to pass and merge onto the freeway without gunning it. Second, I HATE the rear access doors. If you actually have rear passengers, this design can become VERY frustrating. Also, the car itself just has a very, VERY cheap feeling to it - typical on all Honda's. All in all, it's just an okay vehicle.
Honda killed the Element, it just didn't hit Accord with the buyers According to the sales figures. I hope Honda builds something to replace it with more Accord. If Honda keeps making good products, the customers will advertise their products to friends and family members by their own Accord.
@naekerb i heard..seriously honda is disappointing me more and more with each move they make...the old ones where great now they are geting so tasteless and boring..WTF HONDA
@xvrhernandez349 because you americanes don't know anything about good cars, last time I was in the usa I never saw Opels. Fiats, Citroëns, Renault or even Seats... only boring and big cars like fords, toyotas, hondas or pontiacs...
@Turkamel those two cars are very dissimilar. i sincerely doubt small, low, dual sliding door, commercially viable (think uk white vans) vehicle was first introduced to the world by the peugot partner(1997)
not 100% on this but, like i said i sincerely doubt it as i could think of at least two japanese examples that are decades old. as far as originality, "these days" - i think we're getting close to running out. seriously though, dont you u see a lil of some other in most cars nowadays?
The kid was informative, but my concentration broke every time he said "um". It's very distracting especially when you notice it. Other than that, nice video.
Style is the element lacking most in this cubist atrocity. Everything about this car screams "tacky." This car just looks terrible; it looks like it was designed by a blind child with arthritis. In a coma. Whoever chose the color scheme for this car was probably asked to do so at gun point, because I don't think it's possible to choose two uglier colors.
This is coming from a guy who has the color-coordination skills of Stevie Wonder, if that tells you anything (I'm straight).
@SpeedyCheeze wow! you really hate this fckin car! no really, i'm amazed at how sharp a tongue you slice at this thing!
so, please, enlighten me... what would be a good example of the opposite..? ya know, in your eyes, a great car on the market today with fantastic design. msrp up to even 20 grand +, to make it easy. then maybe i can get a hint of your taste and take your critique seriously. so far, you've only made fun of sick children, and beloved blind men.
I have to give Honda credit though: at least they chose a name dumb enough to suit the car. What kind of name is "Element"? What next, the Honda Isotope? Fortunately, this is one Element you won't find on the periodic table. I wanted to rate this one higher, but it's nice to see big companies like Honda giving blind designers a chance.
I love my Element, my only complaint is the clearance of the undercarriage could be a bit higher, and the AWD does you no good once you're stuck because it needs momentum to engage, so some kind of differential locking system would be really useful, even if it needed to be manually set. If you're taking these into some slightly sketchy conditions, you may want to invest in some kind of winch system (just in case).
@hydrofobik1 lol "blind spot" refers to the spot in the car you cant see while using your mirrors. therefore you have to turn and physically look at that spot in the car and when there is a seat in the way you cant see it. therefore you can block a "blind spot"
One girl told me that she got a driving license at 14, she said that she didn't know how her mother fixed it, but she did. I think it was in the state of Montana.
I personally love the element....but I think Honda designed the element with personality and customization in mind ( like scions).....I have seen some pretty amazing customization with these vehicles with just a couple thousand dollars.
Lot folks tell me how ugly my 2005 is. But I like it. Get 22mpg around town driving moderatly seldom accelerating above 4000 rpm get between 26 to 27 highway 26 mpg at 70 -to 75 mile per hour get around 27 mpg at or below 70 on highway. Have automatic and all wheel drive.
I have a 2006 Element (my second Element) my previous was a 2004. I have loved the Element since inception. Styling is strange and beautiful at the same time. I love it.

lol, I knew someone in high school about seven years ago who bought one of these (or his parents did) and got made fun of to end and ended up trading it in within about a year. I'm looking at a compact SUV and this one's styleing is still too weird for me
That cup holder on the ground in the center is ideal for my dog's water cup and long trips. She slops water everywhere. Killed an iPod once when it fell in. At least the seats are waterproof.
I owned one for about 6 months, paid cash for it and traded it out due to HORRIBLE gas mileage. I drove carefully on acceleration but it just didn't matter when in the city. I got 15 miles in the city and 23 miles on the Highway on a GOOD day. The check engine kept flashing, took it in to the dealer after he made me wait for 2 weeks thinking it was just my gas cape. Never again. But if you like the style and the roominess, yes, go for it.
I love my element wouldent trade it for anything...helped 3 friends move, its extremely versitile and comfortable...plus in the 5spd its pretty fun to drive. it handles great which is suprising...i went from a 2000 maxima se to this and i must say i love the element more than i did the maxima..will buy another one when i put 200k+ on this one
i have to say. i have an 03 and i like the older body style better. It gives a kind of rugged 2 tone look, and ive scraped along the side of my drive way and it barely showed any damage.

The one with the plastic corners is MUCH MUCH better.
Also only has 4 seats, 4 belts, no way of adding a 5th seat.
"Bed" feature is very uncomfortable.
Engine gruff is very annoying.
Stereo lacks mid-tones really badly causing the music to lose too much detail.
Sunroof is above passengers, not above driver.
24 mpg. If you go really lightly, you can consistently do 22 mpg in the city.
It's far from perfect.
