Im still, playing this right now!...Warcraft II hasnt lost it's magic ONE BIT over the years. Especially that soundtrack...simply best and most legendary music in RTS games =)....only original C&C and Red Alert can come close. The only RTS I love more than this is Warcraft III....
Seriosuly, I so hope that one day Blizzard returns Warcraft back to RTS, WHERE IT BELONGS!...and Warcraft IV simply MUST continue the storyline PROPERLY where Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne ended...and NO Pandas!

The cinematic in warcraft 2 tried to be realistic, and for warcraft 3 to hardly ever have realistic (not game play) cinematic, it was depressing. Cinematic were like a reward.

@Cheetoz528 I think the graphics are great; graphics don't make a game. The art style of WAR2 was awesome, I hope they incorporate it somehow into future games..
only bad thing about this game is bloodlust...completely makes humans unplayable in land warfare. Also air units are way overpowered on maps where resources are very plentiful.

the best thing in this game is that the stronger wins. if you builedt stronger army than your oponent you win. in wc3 i cant look when some fucking hero killing whole my army with micro. rts should be rts not some fucking rpg.
Warcraft 2 was my first rts I've ever played, I just love it! The story was awesome, orcs were orcs, not some honorful pussies (just take a look at Grom Hellscream in WC2 and in WC3...)

Exactly! WarCraft was a dark fantasy epic story about two warring factions embroiled in war.
Blizzard fucked up, they turned the franchise into nothing more than a media whore, raping it constantly without any sort of care for its history or characters just so they could sell more.
Its sad that we went from this, to having Orcs being tree huggers and the Alliance considered a faction for little kids with cute gnome characters.
Blizzard needs to go back to the roots of what made WC an epic series

Great tribute to a great game. The expansion was classic too (although really hard). I remember getting it for Christmas 95 and playing it non-stop until the demo for Starcraft came out. It hasn't aged too well for me but it certainly was classic back in the day.
That one cinematic where the guy shoots the goblin zeppelin with the catapult never made sense to me since catapults (and ballistas) can't shoot air units.
War2 is way more fun than sc2. I bought sc2 and got diamond level really quick, but it's just a boring game. I'm sticking to war2

Incredible game, remember playing it when i was like 5, didn't understand much of it, but it sure was fun.
Also loved the manual they gave you, they even put a few pages of lore in it and some amazing artwork.

I never got the chance to play the expansion, I only have Tides. When this came out, my brother and I would play this all day :D
I think this game has aged great though. It has aged much better than early 3D games in my opinion. I hold it on par with Starcraft even.
And that Cinematic your talking about, while you couldn't do it in the game, you have to admit it looked pretty cool B)
