@Alvinladen thank you... and thank you for noticing and drawing the distinction. This is NOT an anti Kobe vid. I am NOT a Kobe hater. This is however an anti Kobe 'nuthugger/stan' vid. I am however a Kobe 'stan' hater.
Huge distinction and Bruce shares the same principles as I do. But I can understand how some might confuse us as being Kobe haters.
Hard to say what a young Michael Jordan would do against modern rules, but he would have to make stylistic changes to his game (and of course, you know he could do it). He'd still be the best player, but Jordan really could NOT shoot for the first few years of his career. It's a more perimeter oriented game now, and its hard for anyone to lead the league in scoring without making the three point shot a weapon. The top 8 scorers this year are all players known for shooting a lot of threes.
With that in mind, the fellow who posted this vid commented something about putting Kobe in the 1980's and averaging only 22 per on 42% shooting. Much of the stylistic differences between Jordan and Bryant derive from playing in different eras. If Jordan had come in during the mid 90's, he would have shot more 3's. If Kobe had come around in the mid 80's, he'd have shot less. There are too many variables here to make a definitive ruling. Jordan is better, but Kobe would be a star in any era.
@SRSharp2006 I agree Kobe would've been a star in any era, because he has an extremely great work ethic and drive. However, Kobe has never been the slashing attack player MJ was, even tho today's rules are created to 'encourage' that style of play from the wing players. Up until recently, Kobe has relied too much on the jumper and has a history of making bad decisions and forcing shots. I don't think he'd change that mentality, specially if it was harder to drive back then.
@SRSharp2006 today's game is created with the perimeter player in mind. The rules were modified to allow for more slashing and driving to the hoop. Perimeter players thrive under today's rules more than ever. If Wade who has the same slashing style that Mj did for the earlier part of his career, can avg in the high 20s with a strong % with half the talent MJ had, there would be little adjustment to MJ's game needed. MJ would put up crazy numbers in today's era.
this guy's serious? jordan nuthugger? my question is, who's better? ever? guy owns damn near half the nba record book. on top of that, he's the most respected hooper ever amongst his peers (past and present) and just atheletes in general. the guy changed the game really, just from imitators after him. the stats and awards speak for themselves, and they still don't do justice to watching him. i'm not saying he's the greatest man ever, but bottom line that guy would not let you beat him = GOAT.
i like this vid.. i think the one made this vid is an a-hole.. michael jordan haters are just kids... you did not even saw or witness the prime mj and the 90's mj.. so eveyhaters out there.. live with it.. just rember.. the majority will always consider mj as the greatest bball player of all time...
many of you forgot the Jordan Rules. If that kind of defense is still legal, then players like Kobe would only average 15 pts a game. What a bummer, to anyone who thinks that the 80-99's defense is lame compared of today. It's vice versa!
wow u obviouly misunderstodd what blitz was saying, he didn't mean the old jordan (40 years old) could score easily, he meant that the Jordan in his prime, could easily dominate today's defense. and btw, its true, noone could guard mike one on one without the hand check or some bumping back in the day, so he could easily draw fouls on players these days.
Finally someone puts something intelligent for Bruce Faggott Blitz Jordan ball sucking ass to read. Its a different era and seriously all you have to do to see is go back and see how Jordan had trouble defending a primed injury free Penny Hardaway, The game got a little qucker and the guards got larger, Jordans numbers wouldnt be the same now as they were in the 80's he came up at the right place and right time. The aging 80's stars were heading out the door while he was primed in.
I bet Jordan would love to play in 'today's era's"...uhmmmm Oh yeah he did!! And what's so ironic..He didn't even have to drive to dominate. His jumpshot and his unstoppable "fade-away" sufficed. Just goes to show how smart a player Jordan really was!! Someone teach Kobe the fundamentals!!
Whoever said anything about Lebron. I thought we were comparing the abilities of Jordan and Bryant?? where did Lebron come in?? and even he is a better teamplayer than Kobe, so there you have it!!
you are still trying to put Kobe down and i wonder how good you would play, you talk about Kobe not being a team player, yet where the hell was the rest of his team during the finals, Kobe has had a 30ppg 7asst 6rbd season as well with Shaq on the team, people forget that Shaq hasnt played a full season in about ten years and kobe only til last season had a team to step up and pass to.
yeah he averaged 30ppg. But Do you know how many points per game he puts up trying to achieve that stat? Kobe has the most field goal attempts in the League. And he averages around .444 shooting av. If you ask me that's nothing much to shout about! He's not a teamplayer my friend! Just face it! If you're gonna shoot, atleast shoot around .500 from the field. And don't wait until you realize that you can't do it on your own(lakers-Celtics2008 Finals) to try and get your teammates involved!
This has nothing to do with trying to put down Kobe. I just call it as I see it! Kobe's a gifted player. But Like I said..with great power comes great responsibility!!YOU have teammates that are capapble of shooting the tray...Even Lamar Odom, Vuja, he has weapons use them...don't wait until it's too late to.
I know whatt yor are saying but when i said Jordan wasnt quink enough either was Pippen for a primed Penny Hardaway everyone just flares up even though its true. Dude you got a video of him playing the NO Defense having Mavericks for Christ sake
So right MJ was one of the most intelligent players of all time he would rip zone in his prime. Similar to cover 2 Defense playing zone there are so many spots that can be picked. Jordan would have had so many open looks it would be crazy. Great Vid
I used to hear a lot of people, including many commentators, say that today's athletes are superior to those of the old days, then something strange happened. A big, fat, slow 45 year old man, who bragged about eating cheeseburgers while training, knocked out the Heavyweight Champion, Michael Moorer, with one punch. I somewhat agree. Athletes have for the most part progressed.BUT its not due to their genetic makeup. The human race hasn't advanced so greatly, the medicine, diet and training have. The avg 4 year old is gonna be the same today as it was in the 80's.But the difference is, the benefits of having more advanced diet, medicine and training. done so. Some of these records are aided by modern technology. So I agree and somewhat disagree. What many people seem to misunderstand when dealing with basketball is, skills and talent surpass athleticism for the most part. But a high flying quick guard like James White has been cut many times from an NBA team. The...
same can be said about many high flying athletic players. And even those that make it in the league, their great athleticism can only take them so far, and it shows in their consistency. One night they score 34, for a month straight they score 10 pts. Thanks for posting, hopefully I can upload better vids soon. I have many ideas. I want to show how today's league is watered down. I wanna show how much easier Kobe, WAde, Bron have it than MJ, Chuck and others. It might take a while tho.
yea thats what i alwasy say either jordan was the best or he was the luckeist and was bor n in the best era to play in nba hwere um cof referies dint call nothing like the shot he made of byron russel
He scored 43 (60%) on the Nets who were the #1defense in the league and Eastern Conference Champions that year. Also first 40 year old to score 40 in a game.
A lot of people regard MJ's comeback with the WIzards as failed. I think even though he did not come up with another championship or MVP (Only God knows what would've happened with a healthy knee or if J.O'Neal did NOT foul Kobe ;) ) it was simply great to see him taking so many of players of today's so called "better league" to school and proving that a younger MJ would destroy them all
facts; 1. not one of your clips showed MJ being double teamed before the ball was in his hands.2.he was atacking (in some instances) in a full court situation or early in plays.3.not one clip of MJ in a double team sandwich. your clip of him being triple teamed was actually a packed paint area, any top 20 player today would see similar defence when he is that close to the basket. why waste yoor time trying to prove Jordan is better, He is!!! everyone knows it.
I'm sure if I had the original game tape I'd be able to find everything you mentioned. I downloaded this from a You Tuber and focused it on certain aspects.
Also, the clips that PAH showed were edited and frozen at the right key situations to make it make his point, so they're actually taken out of context. Which is very easy to do.
My point was still proven, we might know he's the goat, but apparently there's some that don't have a clue.
and many people seem to think jordan couldn't play against the zone. playin a zone against jordan wouldn't work cuz he naturally attacks which is the first way to defeat the zone, then he is a great passer which is the second way to defeat the zone
BINGO! its about knowing when and where to attack. Picking and choosing your gaps. And that takes "intelligence" and court vision, which MJ had. People also forget he saw the zone all the time in college along with double and triple teams. Its not as if he can't react to the zone, Mj in his prime would shred the zone with ease wether he played with today's no touch rules or the old school rules. He's just zig zag his way thru it. And in regards to the defenders guarding him when he didn't..
have the ball. He was already defended that way plenty of times with teams cheating on him or players shadowing him. And Mj as many of us noted before, doesn't stand in one spot and uses his footwork impeccably to get open.
But these youngins will never know or understand any of this.
hahaha, truth hurts don't it? So much for the great modern defense with it's double and triple teams (invented sometime in the winter of 2005, no such defenses existed before then). When a 40 year old man can rail off multiple 40 and 50 point games, it really speaks volumes about quality. All the Jelly Bean fans can hang their heads in shame

LOL @ 15 pts. I wouldn't say Kobe would only avg 15 pts, but it would be a lower pt avg with an even lower percentage for sure.
Realistically I think Kobe would avg 22pts and shoot .425%.
He'd find a way to score eventually, but he'll have to work much harder to do so and be less effective in the process.

The gaps are greater because handchecking is a foul today. Those same gaps didn't exhist before the rule change.
Blackwwoolff 3 years ago
The gaps aren't there because of "respect". As of 2004, handchecking was labled a foul.
As a result, defenders stand farther away to avoid picking up easy fouls.
And handchecking actually helps to defend jump shots and drives better.
