I really love your tone and playing. I have been watching this post constantly trying to learn what you are doing but the small screen is making me crazy! Would I be able to get a copy of this video on a dvd so that I can play it on a tv? Obviously, this is your work and I would bewilling to cover all costs as if this were a private guitar lesson. Which by the way, would not be a bad idea to market these videos as an in depth study.
fantastic stuff,i have just done the supernatural having been inspired by your vid ,would love to hears you play someday you;ll be sorry........... keep em coming please please
Can anyone tell me how a person would go about learning how to play the proper notes? Are there tabs or sheet music out there? How did Larry C learn? I have loved PG's playing for over 40 years, and now, nearing 60 myself, I would like to know how to play some of this great music. Not that I could ever approach it......
I can't read music and I only once saw a tab, but it didn't make sense to me, so the only way for me is to just listen and imitate. It was easier back in the day, because I could throw an LP on the record player, play it on 16 speed, which was close enough to half of 33 rpms that the key was still correct. Just listen and try to repeat what you hear.
You can slow music down in VLC media player (atleast mp3's). It's a free program too.
Thanks for posting these Peter Green solos - It sounds alot like the original! Have you ever atempted 'the end of the game'-solos? It would be nice to see you play those. :)
absolutley wonderful tone and playing! Where did you get a faber bridge to fit historic posts? I thought the faber abr1 was intended as a direct replacement for NASHVILLE style bridges and that the post holes were too large for ABR-1 style studs?
Thanks! It's a new Faber LOCKING bridge, with 6-32 locking collars to fit ABR-1 posts. But, as of September 21, Faber will also have a non-locking ABR-'59 to fit ABR-1 posts.
Assuming your pickups are out of phase with each other (PG Mod), the volumes must be exactly, or very closely, matched to get the PG tone. If you move either of the volumes more than about 1 step from the other, it won't sound out of phase. My experience with many, many Les Pauls has told me some do the mod well, and others don't. Each guitar is, of course, different, except for Fadeds, which, in my experience with more than 180 of them, they ALL do the PG Mod almost dead on.
When I first heard this in the 1960s, I didn't care for it so much because there were no wailing solos etc... but it's kind of an "anti" that kind of stuff. All about the vocal. That's what makes it great. It's SO reigned in. You're set up and waiting for any release. When it comes, it's not enough and you're left holding your breath. I agree that this is difficult to play not because of what's being played but when and how... and why.
Nice Peter Green sound!!! I love the way that Peter Green played his Les Paul back in the days with Blues Breakers and Fleetwood Mac.
I played couple of real vintage Les Pauls and several historic reissue ones. As you wrote, the necks are different. Also, there are other differences, too. To me, eventhough new ones are different from the vintages, I like some of Gibson historic Les Pauls in their own ways.
in the description you say you have owned 8 or so original 1959 les paul. HOW!?

What exactly is the difference between the so-called 59 necks and the originals?

Larry,
Trying to get on your site, but it 's not working. I've got some questions about the Manilishi Pickups.

Nice vid, love Peter Green's tone. What are your amp settings for this and your other vids? And are you using the amps vibrato at all?
