One of the top white bluesman was Rory Gallagher who probally was the best guitarist bar none, even Hendrix when asked what it was to be #1guitarist in world he replied ask Rory Gallagher that is a true statement if you haven't heard his stuff look him up passed away 1995 of liver failure.
You know the worst thing about SVR videos? The film crew thinks we give a damn about what is going on around Stevie. Just keep it on him. But can't do anything about it now. RIP. The greatest! Still love the video!
Damn I wish I coulda been there but @ 1 year old I couldn't have experienced such orgasmic music and would be to young to enjoy it.. I would kill to see SRV now in my 20s.. Much love SRV !! RIP
@CosmikDebrisFZ - Wow must have been great, I bet it seemed like another concert at the time but knowing now that SRV would pass not to long after must have made that show become even more valuable to you.
@mixwell1983 Yes it was amazing. I originally went to see Joe Cocker with his recent release of his "Unchain My Heart" album. I wasn't yet into SRV, but did like some of his material. Was more into classic rock ect. Once he played tho it totally blew my mind and was a huge fan ever since. What talent the music industry has lost.
This is the worst video ever! I saw it few years ago and can't stop swearing how somebody must be stupid to show whole world THAT FUCKING BOAT or BIG TENT when SRV plays. Why?! I can't belive it happens! What a morons editing this video?! Ehhhhhh........I feel better now:) Great music!:)
Yeah, and what are you than? A fucking low life who cleary have some problems with your ear since you can't appreciate the talent of Stevie. Go jerk off to some gay-porn, cause we're sick off you haters!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
common guys, he messed up the intro in 0:34 ... and you compare this crapy guitarist with hendrix who allways played perfect (i dont say he allways played on the same level - but what he decided to play at that time, he played it perfect with no mistakes..)... and even if he would not totally fuck ed up the intro, i dont see any brilliancy in his playing.. specialy in this song, only adding some crap 6 minutes solo wannabe to original.. I like randy hanson's(with buddy miles) cover much more..
@mmatej2 Not seeing SRV's brilliance as guitar player shows how much you know about blues and music in general
He is not copying Hendrix it is Stevie's tribute to his idol Hendrix it's not to supposed to bee exact copy moron!
And this "wannabee" as you call him is Nr.7 on RoolingStone list of 100 best guitar players of all time, he must have done something right....but I'm sure you know better....jeez
@mindaflame7 by what standards do you measure "technique" and "tone" and "feeling"? music and preference of music are both extremely subjective; there are no tangible statistics you can measure to determine who's "better". one thing though: you may be able to learn technique (i.e scales, key tonality, etc) a la steve vai, yngwie, etc. with enough practice, but no one can teach you to play with soul and feeling, both of which make Stevie my all-time favorite guitarist. PS, no need for hostility
I do agree with what mindaflame7 says though, these days, if people like Hendrix were still around, i don't think their music would even be listened to as much. Part of the reason why they are regarded as such legends is because they died and their music lives on as their legacy.
I'm sorry; this doesn't make much sense. Why wouldn't he be "listened to as much"? He wouldn't be playing the same music. Already by 1970, Hendrix was extremely frustrated because he wanted to progress (incorporate classical, jazz, etc into his work) but felt people weren't letting him. We ended up being deprived of his genius, but it's safe to assume that if he lived he would have been on the forefront of some very innovative shit -- and assuredly people would be listening.
BTW, as far as the "dead legend" theory goes, there A LOT of musicians from that era who are living legends, and still germane today-- just as there are many from that era- both dead and alive- who have deservedly gone into oblivion.
Modern guitarists like Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani are amazing guitarists, but i just don't find them as pleasing to listen to as people like SRV and Hendrix. A lot of the older guitarists such as SRV and even BB King put so much more feeling and rythym in their solos, it not only sounds better, but in my opinion makes them better guitarists. All guitarists with the knowledge of scales can bang out the fiddly stuff like Satriani and Vai.
Dang people! why turn personal opinion into a freaking debate! this isn't 1+1 it's music. either enjoy it for what it is (or was) or don't listen to the damned sh@t!
im not hating but if jimi and stevie were still alive im pretty sure not as many guitarast would recognize them as the greatest...like they say an artist artwork is fully discovered after death.. may them both R.I.P.
incorrect rudyrudy9.......jimi was widely considered the greatest guitarist alive WHEN he was alive.......he surpassed the greats like clapton and clapton had no problem admitting it at the time. jimi was beloved by fans AND by other musicians alike. he was placed on a very high pedestal well before his death at age 27.
Yes, Hendrix was considered the greatest of his time, but the fact is that by today's standards his stuff today would be nothing to marvel over. I in fact suspect he would have ended just like clapton, deserting rock for ever and favouring slow blues over his youthful fire. My best example would be Van Halen, he was considered a big deal back in the early 80's, but SO many guitarists have surpassed his technique BY MILES that he is now just a shadow, would it be that way if he'd died in say..'85?
In technique? Are you kidding me? Technique? Wow what cave do you live in? Yngwie malmsteen, Joe satriani, steve vai, george bellas, yakayoshi ohmura, erick johnson, joe bonamasa and INFINITE other modern guitarists have enough technique to dance circles around Stevie or Hendrix, and tone?? ever heard of Erick johnson? Los lonely boys? Early malsmteen records? REMENBER YOU ASKED ABOUT TECHNIQUE AND TONE! NOT ABOUT FEELING! Wich is the reason i prefer Jimmi and Stevie ANT DAY OF THE WEEK!!
So YES, modern guitarists have WAY WAY WAAAAAY more technichal prowess under their belts, BUT the magic and the incredible depth of perception an the true and pure exression that poured out of Stevie and Jimmi simply CAN NEVER BE DUPLICATED. Not with technique, Not with modern gadjets, Not with practice, it was THEIR heart being channeled through their fingertips, and THAT has very little to do with today's flashy crap. But YES, there is great technique and tone out there all over the place.
Learn to write first you dumb retard "You an idiot" is NOT a sentence. I don't even know who the FUCK you are, or what you disagree with me on, so...next time EXPLAIN yourself you FUCKTARD.
based on the fact that all the other blues players from both of their times have slowly died out. neil young once said its better to burn out then to fade away.
@cacorkins Lol... I just imagined Hendrix with SRV, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Page or Eric Clapton... or them all together, lol. What a mindfuck. I'm not gonna sleep tonight. Fuck you, Death.
Great version of "Little Wing." Just like "Voodoo Chile" from this concert, Stevie pulls out some licks out of that hat that are different and above all else, highly expressive.
he is fantastic. He did this song what hendrix did to hey joe. Not saying that hendrix is bad, im saying he made it his own incorperating his sound into the song and changing it. I do prefer his version to hendrix
God??? Jesus??? Music is real, God and Jesus are fairytale-monsters, so how the h**l do they end up in the same sentence as SRV??? LOL
