  • So linz what do you think about occupy wall street or the occupy movements you haven't spoke about them jasmine revolution the arab spring what is your take on the protests taking that are happening globally

  • Gheyyyy

  • It's not really mean to say it sounds like a Renaissance festival, because if you remember, the Renaissance started in Florence.

  • GREEK AND ITALIAN STUDENTS FOREVER TOGETHER

  • meh... Protests... It's Latin Europe you know. France, Italy, Spain. It's a bloody sport down here. I'm a highschool student and I've been on strike 3 times, blocked the school twice and went to a demonstration twice. Last year one ended in a riot. Donno I guess it's just european culture...

  • I was at the UK student protest and my god was it violent! But i do not blame them, £9,000 to £12,000 per year is a ridiculous amount of money as oppose to what i am paying now at the moment which is £3,359. I am thankful that i do not fall into the new tuition fee band system. But i feel as though many bright students from a poorer income background will be severely affected with the increase in tuition fees. Class segregation will unfortunately appear from 2012.

  • @maureen0208 No worries, the world will end that year ;)

  • I love watching all your videos! keep them coming :)

  • Wow! Way to go Italian students and standing up for your right to a free education! Our schooling system in North America is seriously ridiculous!!

  • everyone type "won" before youtube.com!

  • im from italy, weve been protesting because those assholes at the goverments are doing way too many cuts!

  • Silvio Berlusconi is the second longest-serving Prime Minister of Italy, a position he has held on three separate occasions: from 1994 to 1995, from 2001 to 2006 and currently since 2008. Technically, Berlusconi has been sworn in four times.

Linz, maybe you should stay away from communist countries all together.

  • Comment removed

  • @gjonesy9 wow, you are very ignorant, italy isnt communist

  • @gjonesy9 Lmao.. another uneducated American.. Italy is not a communist country, they actually fought hard against communists in world war 2.

  • Did you go Geocaching in London and Rome ??? x

  • hey, girl

where have you been?? no more vids after this one?? it's too much time without your news

    happy new year!!

  • you should have joined

  • OMG YOUR....YOUR ....EYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS .....im in love looool

  • we need some RRO

  • I love to see people stand up for their education.

  • I was in europe a few weeks before this happened and saw a very similar thing happen in florence as i was leaving with my school group. Only one of the posters were english and had "We don't need your education" on it.

  • nice video! love it!

  • I know you were saying interesting stuff, but my comment will be solely based on how I think you're very pretty.

  • Ha... if they saw the higher education budget cuts here in the U.S. they would really be having a fit.

  • @sciupess2 but at around 4:10 they start playing a traditional Irish tune called King of the Faeries. Maybe it's two different songs with the same tune?

  • Basically its happening all over Europe all the governments want more money so they are charging tuition fees which would usually be free.

  • @its00dave Welcome to the American education system.

I pay $31,000 a year to go to a public university.

  • UK, Italy, and France. Some of my favourite nations in the world are being taken over by student and people's protests. Good. Hopefully it leads to a revolution.

  • Lindsay the economic situation here in Italy is very serious...The governement cuts on education will put the end to public education and universities...

  • this was little today (december 14 2010..) it was a huge and violent one! u should have seen this one!

    this was sick!....

    :P

btw; that "square" is called piazza venezia! :)

and if u find a "manifestazione" again u should stay away, cause usually they become really violent!

  • @sponge36O this seems a parade because you didn't wach all the demonstration, you idiot, you don't even know what is going on in italy so think before talking!

  • Part 1

today 14/12/10 there was a demonstration against the reform on universities (which i'm talking about 1 comment after), similar to the one in this video. meanwhile the Italian parliament was deciding by voting if Berlusconi and his party would continue to govern.

Search in Youtube this video: Studenten Proteste in Italien Rom (3) (it's long 5:13 mins)

  • Part 2

Eventually it was decided that it would stay, just for 3 fucking votes!!! and the ones who have chosen to vote for him were the last 3 who had to vote, now they will investigate to see if they have not been paid. soon as the information of the "victory " Berlusconi has been disclosed the demonstration turned violent.

  • Students are protesting against the reform of the Berlusconi government about universities cause this reform consist into cutting off funding 2 universities. since then there have been many protests in all major cities in italy.

  • My god ...a protest???? What is that? What are these red flags are?Maybe roses? Will the armani shop survive?

These are REAL PEOPLE NOT PLANTS... STANDING UP FOR THEIR RIGHTS just keep this from the whole story !

  • Even when nervous, your kindness shows through Lindsey.

They need to have all those police there in order to start the police riots... Yet again. hmph!

I took a walking tour through the middle of a student protest in Berkeley CA. Those were the most frightened bunch of cops I ever saw.

  • its not evan a protest its more of an parade

  • They are protesting, that makes the event a protest, nowhere near a parade.....

  • Many European countries have proposed policies involving increasing fees and cutting funding for further education, sparking widespread protests, peaceful and violent, across many different countries and cities.

I've been an active member of the protests happening here in London, and they're something everyone should be well informed about no matter which country you live in, so I'm glad you're taking an interest :)

  • Compare to student protests in London.... OMFG!!!!

  • Protests are tasty.

  • When I was in Milan there was a demonstration. No idea what it was about. Was pretty orderly.

  • All of this is f- all.

  • phil is a lucky man

  • pause at 1:03 Lyndsey is a WIZARD

  • Holy shit that is amazing! I'm so proud of the Italian students for standing up against the budget cuts! I don't see any Floridians standing up for something like this, and our budget cuts get worse every year down here.

  • @vanessacaterina these protests are very similar to here in the UK, infact they seem alot calmer... but I think we're demonstrating is because our student fees are going to be TRIPLED!! from £9000 (which we can barely afford anyway) to £27000!! thats why people have reacted so vigourously, i'm sure students where you live would go just as crazy if the changes were so sudden!

  • @tasha489 "our student fees are going to be TRIPLED!! from £9000 (which we can barely afford anyway) to £27000!!"

actually they're not going to be tripled, universities are going to have THE OPTION to treble fee's, then it all depends on how long your course is, where it is blah blah. I agree with protests, dont get me wrong, but the protests in england are stupid, attacking people and things that have nothing to do with the cuts. just makes things worse. but it will only get worse next time.

  • @dienekesundead well pardon me for being emphatic! I was just making the point to that person that we're faced with something drastic and their budget cuts are increasing gradually, which is probably why they don't have protests. I don't think anyone agrees with the 'attacking people part... there's always some extremist that ruins it for everyone else

  • that

    was

    AMAZING!!!

  • Lindsay - Action Reporter

  • You should definitely research the protests in England over student fees being raised.

They urinated on the Winston Churchill monument, swung from the flag of the Cenotaph, and attacked the car of Prince Charles and Camilla. They threw paintballs and biliiard balls and poked Camilla with sticks through the window of the car.

They even took down some mounted police, throwing fireworks and hitting them with sticks to spook them. That's ridiculously violent.

  • ...Coming to a socialist country near you!

  • ok I have one question, why are they playing Irish music at a student protest in Rome?

  • @stellaeire no is an Italian popular song (partisan) .. "fischia il vento " of Modena City Ramblers

  • that looks awesome xD

  • italians are weird.... but im amarican so i cant really talk

  • @remfiles yeah you better shut up

  • It's happened in Amsterdam yesterday too, it's protests because with the budgetcuts education will only be for the rich and no longer for everybody

  • Students in the UK were much worse! we even attacked our royalty!

  • @CorruptedCheeze

You forget that there is that universal hate? (atleast with a mayor group of punks)

  • @CorruptedCheeze much better!

  • @CorruptedCheeze *better. The royals can stuff themselves

  • @CorruptedCheeze that was a beautiful moment!

  • These protests have been going on all over Europe.. Earlier this week we had one in London, which got a little put of hand BUT the only reason it got so bad was because the government was holding their vote on the raise in university fees and the verdict was that the fees will be raised! There are still more protests to come so it should be interesting...

  • THAT WHITE BUILDING THEY CALL THE WEDDING CAKE BUILDING BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE A HUGE WEDDING CAKE, JUST THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.

  • @wendowen2 OMG YOUR CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN TOO?!?!

  • you are beyond beautiful linz

  • do they play Black Ops in rome?

  • @itsCONTROVERSY yup ;)

  • at one part it started to sounds like the tetris song.

  • it's happening in germany. people are rising, fed up to be surpressed by goverments, that don't care ybout the people's opinion.

  • It's happening in loads of places.

  • its happening here in the uk

  • thats how you protest!

  • Too bad our students are too busy living the life of a reality TV star in order to protest like these people. That's awesome.

  • These protests against the increasing privatization of education & for free emancipatory education can be observed worldwide all the time!

Currently especially in Puerto Rico, Greece, the UK, the Philippines, Itlay and the Netherlands.

Why everywhere? Because the privatization of education is a symptom of the dominant economic system (capitalism), which unleashes its forces globally!

So I hope sooner or later the students and movements will unite globally as well.

    ~ one world - one struggle ~

  • Wait. That music when they're carrying the band... I recognise it. Isn't it a folk song from Scotland called King of the Fairies?

  • it's awful that their tuition is going up like crazy - i wouldn't want them to have to deal with similar situations to ours in north america! in canada it costs upwards of 5K for a year of undergrad tuition and my cousin, who goes to boston university in the states (which is private but not even top-tier) pays like 40K a year just for tuition! it's pretty ridiculous.

  • They need police because Italians tend to get "emotional" easily :P

  • @AngryUrsaring wow your stupid, like if in other countries there was no police when there were protests

  • We have had the same thing in Britain, Except ours were alittle more violent. goverment buildings smashed and fires started etc etc

  • we have education protests in britain too, i'm only 15 and if i go to higher education im going to be in debt until im 50, it's actual bullshit

  • @fatboyfinn That's a lie.

  • Sooooooooo sheltered.

  • policia.

  • Linz u are hot, only reason why im subbed, the vloggs are interesting too btw xD

  • looks like theres going to be a mass suicide :O

  • The police guy is saying: No, you cannot pass from here, please be patient, and the italian guy is saying: But really, I have to go, my girlfriend and I are leaving for Spain really soon!

  • @xIVI37EOI2zZ hah thanks!

  • @LinzLoves You should dye your hair red

  • @LinzLoves well, italian education is free for everyone, but the goverment gives a budget of only about a billion euros, which is not enough to even just keep the schools "intact"

  • @xIVI37EOI2zZ Leaving for spain? Naaa, the guy just said he would like to pass to go home.

  • Student protest in london yesterday was CRAZY, literally war on the streets

  • the man at the end says girls, can you please move to the side or no one will get out :)

  • I guess this is the same as England( I'm from England). They raised the tuition fees for university so now they can charge up to £9,000. we don't like this. Protest occurs

  • You should check out the background of those protests and the general political and social problems in Italy. That would add a lot to the vlogs, I think.

  • the protests in england are crazy

  • I think it was just amazing that theres still people out there caring for there education.

Thank you for sharing this keeps my hopes up that theres still places that care about these things.

  • England protests are etter!

  • Hahahahahah.... Last minute boob shot.

  • Oops, anyone know the name of the Song playing from 5:00-5:22?

  • Any o

  • They're a lot more peaceful the the ones happening in Britain at the moment -.-'

  • nice video, thanks

  • they were probably super excited for the huge turn out.

  • get back home, fast. somethings wrong with phil, he needs sex...

  • Will you also go to Germany? That would be great :D

nice video. you should have seen protests ive been on haha

  • PAAASSSTAAAAA~!!!

  • the ones in england were alot worse

  • It`s so much more fun to live then exist

  • i went to the protest's in England it was mad

  • @charliescrimshaw thats what i was thinking

  • wtf. that's a lil crazy.

  • What kind of camera do you use when traveling?

  • they want to take away our fag money (EMA) lol :(

  • There are protests everywhere recently, there was one in Dublin that turned awfully... They were all supposed to be "peaceful protests"... Violence just happens though... :(

Its to do with budget cuts, the governments are raising the registration fee for colleges and decreasing the grant system that students use to pay the fees that they get for college... There's murder going on, but the budget has already passed... Its a pain in the ass but according to the government its "necessary" :(

  • good job you werent here in england this month!! u would of loved our protests xD memories lol p.s. I WASN'T A VIOLENT PROTESTER (just a disclaimer) lol

  • These are the numbers, 8 billion euros of cuts in 2 years to the University. All while instead favoring the private universities, which in Italy are very few, with tax cuts ecc.

It was really a historic day, because the protests in Italy almost never make the news, because there is really a huge wall between the politic government and the people.

  • See, in Italy there is a very good public school system, and most major universities are public (unlike in most other countries). What this "reform" does, is that it cuts funds for the university. This way, researchers will not be able to become professors, because when older ones retire, no new ones will be hired; many faculties will be closed, and since in Italy there are not many job offers, almost all of the Phd students from now on will not find jobs.

  • power to the students!

  • what happens is that european goverments due to the econimic crisis is trying to have the same system as america in many ways and people arnt happy

its maybe easier to get rich but its really fucking easy to get poor in america wich it hasnt been in european coutries for almost a century european goverments are acctuly going back to favor the rich wich america already have done

  • Well, again, hello, I'm an Italian student... and fortunately you saw some of the more pacific protests. Tuesday november 30th was an extremely important day in Italy. All over the country, in every city, thousands of students gathered and occupied (took over) public buildings, like the train stations, the airports, and so on so forth. The reason was to finally show to the public our protest against the "riforma gelmini", a reform that changes the public university system

  • Wow, I bet you didn't expect this many people in your blog. You've placed yourself in the centtre of the news...

Here's a bit of information for everyone to enjoy......

"The total amount raised by all student fees last year was equal to the £7 billion bonuses that top bankers will get this Christmas".

  • Did you find the name of the song ? :D

  • Whats with the soviet flag around 4:28? And they sang the italian version of the russian folk song katyusha! What are those students thinking? :D

  • @1happiness its a catchy song! :P

  • @1happiness Its a statement about equality and what is fair

  • @1happiness The soviet flag represents communism that government is about free education and fair pay.

  • @1happiness. they just took the rythm and put their own words, it's a kind of 'revolutionary' song.

  • protests in france are much better!

  • i was here this summer =DDD

  • people have been rioting all over europe over the failing euro and the forced budget cuts. Almost every country in the eu has rioted in the last month and still nothing has really been solved

  • Music whic is playing is Kussian old song, and star on italian flag would indicate that some of students were in socialist party so they were probaly fighting for free education.

  • @LinzLoves Thanks for these travel vlogs! You've given me great tips for when I plan to travel on my own, and made me feel more confident about going :) Keep it up!

  • thats what i find cool about europe... the people there give a fuck about stuff

  • they're free loaders, they're trying to get free higher education. idiots.

  • @submitenter They just don't want it to become like USA where 80% of all people are idiots :)

  • @steswe that sounds like a very educated stat. please share more words of wisdom

  • that sign i think says "social activism" could also say "socialism is active"

  • l love your travel vlogs (:

  • totally renaissance music lmfao

  • wats with the gay pride flag though? thats kinda strange for a protest about education reform

  • Thankyou for this it was very insightful, the British media isn't really reporting much on the other European student protests at the moment due to the violence breaking out because of the budget cuts in education. It's nice to know we can have faith in the next generation to stand for what we believe in and we aren't alone.

  • someday i wil be traveling cant wait

  • I wanted to say Thank you so much for your travel vlogs. I had my CBEST last week ( California Basic Education Skills Test, its a test you have to pass to be a teacher in California) One of the writing prompts was to discuss where you would like to travel , why and what you would hope to gain from the experience. I thought about your vlogs and said Rome ( whic
