@jiska111111111111111 say you hurt and enemy to 90% of their health and your teammate kills that enemy. you'd get a kill assist. now I don't know what the exact numbers are but you can think of a critical kill assist as getting your enemy down to 20% (or whatever the actual number is) and then your teammate gets the kill. really all it means is that you severely hurt the enemy but didn't get the kill

Its a modification of the MG3 it was re-chambered for .308 aka 7.62x39 it fires at 1200 rpms used by the modern german military and some UN troops, The MG53 is a yugoslavian post war production of the MG42, the MG3 is only different in rear sight, and the different ammo, and the flash hider is slightly different, there you go, and they are hella fun to shoot

Just watched that video and I actually did fire a MG3 in real life in my time in the german army (also called the Bundeswehr). And it's funny how unrealistic it is handled in this game because it's a 11kg heavy piece of metal which recoil could break your shoulder if not operated correctly. ;)

And i have fired an MG-3 and an MG-42 in california and i must say the MG-42 is an excellent weapon, but the MG-3 is lighter and its a little easier to shoulder fire :) tremendous rate of fire... i kinda fucked up 2 MG-3 barrels and 1 MG-42 barrel :)

The MG-3 is not a modification of the MG-42... MG-3 fires 7.62mm NATO and MG-42 fired 7.92x57 mauser... MG-42 had wooden stock and MG-3 had synthetic stock... different rate of fire too

your translation of that SS guy was pretty accurate. After the war began Hitler's personal body guard ( the brown shirts or SA) were almost completely taken over by the SS. The SS was in charge of protecting Hitler, as well as fighting in the field. So the protective detachment is correct.

the MG3 is basicly a modernized version of the MG42, where instead of shooting 7.92x57mm, It uses 7.62 NATO, a more common round, due to the fact it's is part of NATO. The MG42 is a newer version, of hte MG34, the one before it, but may be wrong, though I doubt it. The MG stands for MaschineGewehr, or Machine gun, which is pretty self explanitory. it's got a godly fire rate....

The idea behind the large clipsizes of the LMGs is to help them fit their support role. To act in that role, many medics need to lay down a lot of cover/suppressing fire, and a 100-200 bullet clipsize is necessary for such actions. That's my take anyway, and that's assuming my impressions of medic as a support class and LMGs as support weapons are correct

The MG42,you're right, is a modified MG42. Bassically the same weapon but chambered for a different caliber (7.62mm OTAN rather than the WW2 german 7.92mm),

However the weapon was not created by the SS at all,it was designed&manufactured by Rheinmetall AG and most of them were used by the Heer, not the SS (the SS did use it too but they also used other LMGs as the czech ZB26 or captured brens)

@ramjb Reason being that initially the Waffen SS had no access to the same weapon distributors than the Heer (later this was corrected), so they used a lot of foreign captured equipment, or weapons not issued to the Heer (good example, their use of the MP18 derivatives instead of the MP38/40 the Heer did). Later as I said that was corrected and received same weapons as the Wehrmacht did...but as I stated the MG42 wasn't a weapon created by the SS. Used, yes. Created, nope.
