  • im goin to a concert in seatlle tomarrow mornin to see them and my cousins band perform(west on 18)

  • this is garbage.. i love the ataris but this album is horrible..how people can compare blue skies and end is forever to this are stupid. i can understand wanting to go a different direction..but mission unsuccessful.. PS.. i saw them last sunday at a small club on long island and they were amazing.. didnt touch this album at all.. at this point i think all ataris fans can just forget this crap was ever made..

  • i just love the funking band!!! =)

  • This album was recorded 100% analog and if you listen to it with headphones you can hear the wonderful panning and separation and 'rawness' of the recording. I wasn't a big fan initially; however, after about 5 listens I realized there was something VERY special here...Better than 'Astoria'???? Hmm, real fucking close, love 'em both.

  • Blue skies and broken hearts next 12 exits was their best album

  • i didn't care for this album to be honest. wasn't that great. So Long, Astoria was my favorite

  • people ether got it or didnt get the "welcome the night" sound, To me its a totally underated album, it sounded more mature, but as a big ataris fan i think whatever kris dose it will b awsome, But please listin 2 welcome the night with head phones and a spliff

  • yes yes yes and YES.

many a time have I done just that.

I think stoned is the way welcome the night was meant to be heard.

Its just so deep and epic and surreal and dreamy and full. in order to grasp it completely i think you need to open your mind and listen in a way that you can only while stoned.

    its quite the experience.

have you heard the b sides? come to my page if not. ive got all of 'em and more.

  • Stoned makes you a dumbass who could never understand underlying messages and archtypes that such a brilliant writer uses to tell his stories

  • @XxTaintedFaithxX You presume too much about Marijuana users. how bout you do some real research before you start condemning the majority of music listeners. Besides that, to just assume that being a stoner or being stoned makes you stupid is completely irrational and stupid in itself and to that I say you can get all kinds of fucked.

  • @XxTaintedFaithxX am a stoner and i total get the album, sorry 2 piss on u

  • Whoever said that this was the best album they ever made is on crack. End Is Forever, Blue Skies..., and So Long, Astoria were way better

  • Well, I miss the Ataris old songs but this album is good too. Different but good.

  • such a great album! lots of great memories with this one....hangin' at the beach with my buds!

  • i hate that this was the only video made for Welcome the Night.

I wouldve loved more than anything to see a video for anything on the album EXCEPT this song.

i like the song but its just really bland compared to the rest of the album.

  • It makes me sad to see that so many people disliked Welcome the Night. In my opinion, it's the best album I ever bought. And then So Long, Astoria. :]

  • It IS their best album by a long shot...and that says a lot, because everything Kris Roe has ever recorded is excellent. I cannot conceive how it wasn't received well critically---if any other band releases this exact same record (for example, The Killers), it's a four-and-a-half star album. Unfair bias against bands derived from the old-school pop punk scene.

  • Well, I don't know if it's their best, but it's one of them. I think So Long, Astoria is better..but I have to admit, The Cheyenne Line, Not Capeable of Love, and Connections are More Dangerous Than Lies are my favorite songs by them. The songs on this album have a lot of hidden meanings to them that are just amazing. It's a pitty that they're not more popular. Sadly their not popular in Anderson, IN either..:(..They're home town..and mine...most of my friend have never heard of them.

  • No kidding. Welcome the Night is amazing.

  • Amazing song, but the sound quality here is poor.

  • older albums are better...

hope they release a album that looks like so long astoria or end is forever

on myspace they say there will be a new album

  • woohoo!! lol agreed

  • I'm not sure they'll ever outdo So Long, Astoria.

So Long, Astoria is the best album I have ever bought. Hands down.

  • let's hope that the album that's coming this summer will be better than So Long,Astoria.

keep your fingers crossed and hope and pray

  • they outdid it when they wrote welcome the night.

and i think anyone who really understood the album and what Kris was trying to get across with it would agree.

it was just a very misunderstood album cause it takes so many listens before you really appreciate it.

but i have no doubt that this new album will be better than that and everything before cause it seems they cant help but constantly outdo themselves.

  • I don't like the effect they put on his voice.. other that it's a good song.

  • I like it, its way different to the old stuff, but the ataris sound still there, also I think that kriss is now more mature...obviusly I mean in a musical way...well he always have been an awesome writer and composer...

  • so long astoria album is the best

  • love the song :O

  • I like this song but I was not satisfied with the rest of the album. I was not hooked on it like I have been in the past with other ataris albums.

  • Man the thing is..that if the Ataris had this style before...everyone that like this style would be pleased with this...but..dont expect people that loved the ataris to like this album because...seriously...IT SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER BAND!! its not that it is bad..its just what wasn't expected.

  • I've listened to the ataris since they were signed with Kung Fu Records and i persoanlly think this was a great turn for this band. i love this entire record.

  • Dude, if you don't like the Ataris, it means you don't appreciate what rock music is supposed to be. I wish I had listened to them since they signed to Kung Fu Records...I only started listening around 2004.

  • I was born and raised in the town Kris Roe was..Anderson, Indiana...If I don't like them, I should be slapped and burned...Good thing I do though :P

  • this is the most underrated album of this decade.

  • @alleksan And the greatest album of all time!

  • There old stuff is wayyy better...

  • For those who love to hate Welcome the Night, when (before) did Kris Roe ever write a more profound, complete song than this?

Never---although the entire album is full of songs just like this one.

It's easily his best work, and probably one of the top five albums of this decade. Everyone apparently "missed the point" of this album; it's not intended to confirm values---it's a gloomy, introspective work which brilliantly illustrates life in all of its ecstasies and agonies. So genuine.

  • I like this song alot tbh..

  • Kick ass Song!

  • :D I love you

  • its not as gr8 as their other ones but i still lyk it

  • deception..is all i feel when i hear this songg.. the old songs r the best of ataris..!!

  • dammit... i hate it when really good artists change there sound!... they should def. go back to there old style

  • wow...this sounds nothing like their "so long astoria" album....=[

  • Welcome the night was a terrible cd

  • I forgot how much Welcome to the Night sucked...

  • hmm the video kinda sucks... i'm kinda dissapointed the WoW verisions they make of this vid is much cooler and nicer

  • man i love how they took the emo rock style of story telling and mixed it with alterna rock music its like linkin park

  • I think welcome the night is genius and really shows off how Kris Roe & the band have really evolved as a song writers. I love the old stuff too but this really lets the world know that they're more then just "pop-punk/emo" or whatever. That being said, so long astoria and this album rule.

  • this is good but their old stuff was genius

  • they need to go back to their old stuff

thats the stuff i fell in love with and

why i fell in love with him

  • i totally disagree...jm3coe.

  • i totally agreeeee!

  • they r going back to their old style said Kris cause he misses why he really started to write! so im sure they will go back to so long astoria cause he said it was his fav record and he was at his peak of writing

  • his voice used to be so good, now he synthed it all up and changed to an emo tone. In my opinion they sold out to mainstream style with the emo-craze. This is a sad perversion of kris roe's previous genius. long live so long, astoria

  • its not him its the quality of the video thats making him sound so synth try another video and youll see the difference

  • Not true; the CD sounds like crap. It doesn't even sound like him singing even on the actual album.

  • i really like this alternative/progressive rock side of The Ataris......

  • i think his voice is changed lol...anyway good song! but i prefer old songs...

  • So long astoria is actually my least favorite ataris record.....and I have them all so I obviously like them. It's weird how people have such different opinions.

  • this reminds me of somebody i know,

he's always there for people, but in return they always seem to forget him.

even though he's such a good guy, i bet he feels like this all the time.

    anywayz, great song :)

  • As artists change, so do their music. I personally love this song, and Welcome the Night.

  • i agree! i like their new stlye of music but i still like their older ones better

  • so nice =D

  • good song

kinda reminds me of blur song #2

kris plays guitar the strangest way i have ever seen

but i dont argue with results

  • kris roe grew up! he still writes about his personal life! only difference is that his personal life changed! so should his music not? it's a fact of life! i was a bit disappointed when i heard this song, because the previous albums are works of art, but that doesn't mean that this album is not good! kris roe is still, in fact, an amazing songwriter! his lyrics just rotate around hatred and regret, now! because that's what he had went thru!

  • Accept changes guys!!! Kris Roe is growing up!!! you must be happy for him!!! he will not write teenager songs forever!!! he's a total genius songwirter!!! appreciate this album!!! it's basically called MATURITY, I understand why most ataris fans are disappointed now!!!

  • Not the best album by The Ataris, but not the worst. After listening to it for a while it grew on me.

  • Kris Roe is my hero, But this album definitely sucks. i want the old ataris back!!!!!

  • this album sucks. u.u

i love the ataris but that album..

    is a pice of shift..

  • i love the ataris! i like this song a lot XD

  • Oh, this song reminds me -- I need to get more shampoo ... I think... :/

  • Everything that Kris Roe does is amazing.

    I love The Ataris.

  • Kind of a let down.

  • kris got a better voice. good song!

  • i miss the old Kris :(

please come back with an album like so long astoria!!!

  • i dont know if you know but the ataris are comming out with a new album that will be like ''so long astoria'' and the''blue skys'' album its comming out this summer. keep rockin dude

  • yeah i know, im so happy!!

but i'm still asking questions for the next record...???

  • yo buttmonkey will Kris Roe make another album like his old songs??not this crap songs he plays in his new album, it's just i'm really disappointed in his new album...thanks dude

  • wooo! i can't wait! i love both of those albums so the day the new album comes out i'm gona buy it!! lol

    peace dudes n dudettes

  • @ButtmonkeyBrigade loll 2 years ago, this album is still not out and will not be out for this summer. So lets wait summer 2011.

  • man if he go a dif haircut hed prob be more famous..

  • I like all of their work. But kris's voice sounds a lot different on this album. Not overkeen. Still good music though!

  • so long astoria is the best album, even though blue skies could be better O.o

  • are you fucking joking?

blue skies, broken hearts.... next 12 exits shows the Ataris best work. astoria is mediocre at best, an album for the kiddies.

it took me a while to warm to Welcome The night, but after three or four listens through, its actually pretty good.

  • i personally liked the end is forever the best but thats just me

  • this sucks so fuckin much...

  • fuckin < fucking

  • still this is a good band...

  • This is a sad day. One of the bands I grew up with changed to a crappy emo band with black hair and stupid fringes.

Blue skies and broken hearts is how I will remember them.

    RIP Ataris...

  • I actually have to agree, i really didn't like this. His vocals have evolved..in a bad way somehow. Not like him at all. Not to mention the HAIR! End is forever, forever.

  • they said on their myspace that the next album will be a lot like their old stuff

    yay!

    =D

  • are u kidding hes hott

  • =/ finaly it happens.. my favortie punk band changed.. =(

  • Yeah dude I miss the days or Teenage Riot! Don't Conform guys keep it real!

  • On account of the fact they've had a major record deal for years and have mad more money than you'll ever...They've already conformed bud. Along time ago.

  • this is a great song.

kris roe is heavily influenced by my bloody valentine and other shoegaze bands thats why they sound like this.

end is forever- best ataris album.

  • Duuuude.

    Blue Skies FTW.

  • blue skies all the way, best song is Broken promise ring

however I do love the EP look forward to failure, between you and me is a great song

  • They've got their nostalgic tunes and beautiful pieces such as this they really have it all for me as a fan.

  • do cd novo, essa eh a unica musica que presta

from the new album, this is the only song that i listen to...the rest sucks

  • ive been a Ataris fan for son long.....but this song is good...

  • why guys why did you have ruin the ataris i used to know!!!! :(

  • This is not the same band I have loved for so long.

    RIP Ataris

  • totally

  • What did you do???!!! where is the ataris i used to know... songs like Broken promise ring!!! or in spite of the world but now is strange to listen to you guys!!! sorry =(

  • too bad the old band members couldn't stick around a little longer. Thank god kris is still making music though, got to respect that

  • man... what's going on here? I'm trying to like it but... shit dude! this is not the kris i remember.

Listen to 1*15*96.. one of my favorites of their earlier music, classic.

  • Like this song!!1

  • what the hell happened to kris' voice? it sounds... i dont know.. it sucks, the music sucks, making new album means to be better, not be worst. So long astoria is better than this album! knapp and danvenport come back!

  • so long astoris is when it started to go downhill - blue skies!!

  • great song... defo different sound though... Kris's amazing talent for song writing is still evident here! new members bring new sound... its how it works...

  • wtf They've changed.. in the bad way ¬_¬ their last album was amazing.

    But this song is ok...

  • So long astoria gave me some of the best music-moments I've ever had!

  • Great song from a great new album!!

  • The fact is that the band changement involved also a sound changement. This track is not bad, but I prefer The Ataris' band until Knapp and davenport left the band...

  • This can't be the same band!!!! Oh man...I miss them. :(

  • He is so freaking talented, but this new album is awful. Really, the sound is grabage, and he is so creative, confusing, hope he puts out another great album soon, he has produced a lot of great stuff... but this....man I miss the 90's for music

  • no broken heart exit is their best then end is forever ahhhh.... kris roe what went wrong is it because all the original member leave the band that's why the new one sound so sucky?

  • it's sounds like new wave (english sound) make me think to joy division...

  • he looks wierd here.. but the song is'nt bad..

  • Anybody else think that Kris looks awful with black hair and emo doesnt suit him. Emo Screamo eat your heart out!

  • Don't worry he's shaved it now lol. Looks like he's going bald too! But it's the music that matters, and I personally love this track (shame its the best on the new cd.)

  • I know my sister went to see them...she got her ipod signed by him...he looks better now though emo doesn't suit him!

  • "whatever lies will help you rest" is, to me, the best song on the album. but this one is good too!

  • sounds weird.. the voice its like the guy from "The cure" i miss So long astoria, one of my favourites albums, mejor en español jaja prefiero el disco anterior todas las canciones tenian un sentido pero mi preferida era Looking back on today, me gustaba su mensaje de recordar un viejo amor... I hope the next album will be as a good as So long... y mas aun deseo escucharlos live algun dia, bye people

  • jaj maTo el cambio d idioma

  • I do agree that this new album isn't as good as So Long Astoria, which to me, is the best album I've ever had. Nothing beats So Long Astoria.

But anyway, not as good doesn't mean that this new one is bad, only because So Long Astoria was phenomenal. I think Kris should had just kept his original voice. Other than that, there are good songs in this new albums too.

My favourite is Begin at the Begining.

  • i dissagree, i think End Is Forever is probably their best cd.

  • Blue skies!!

  • This song is, OK. Definetley not as good as the past songs though.

  • the lyrics are still great, but the music's too emoish for me. it is different from their past albums, but it's not my favorite. if they didnt put too many effects on Roe's voice, maybe it would've been better

  • The Ataris at one time were my favorite band hands down but...............

I will buy this album to support them and hope it has better tracks than this on it.

  • Looks like kris put down drugs and is gaining his weight back

  • God dammit.

  • what i loved about the Ataris so much was the catchiness of their music. this just doesn't do it for me. sorry Kris.

  • I like this song....but I do have to say that End is Forever is always one of my favorite albums of theres and in comparison...well it just doesnt match up. I have only heard this one song so far but the music just doesnt match Kris Roes lyrical abilities ): eMiLy

  • fucking great song

  • It's not that the ataris have gone "pop" or whatever, it's because they're finally doing what they want. This is the real Ataris, this is how Kris Roe wanted it.

On the other hand, I'm not going to say it's my favorite album. Personally, I thought So Long Astoria was an amazing album, and for some reason will always be my favorite. They are kind-of far off from their roots, but it's what they want. Don't call it a sell out.

  • you guys and girls are too critical, I haven't heard any of there early songs. To me, this song is good

  • this is very disappointing... their old songs were MUCH better than this... :(

  • I agree with the person who said that the main problem of the song is its edition. There's this weird effect over Roe's voice and the guitars don't seem to have any strenght. The song itself seems pretty good. Beautiful video also.

  • watch?v=bUMeXlAJx9I

check out this band see what you think!

Track 9 from Glasgow in Scotland wooo! lol

    x!

  • shit.

  • To answer their question from their song Radio #2:

"Why do so many bands never make it to the radio?"

    It's music like this.

  • It's a shame listening to this new album...

my favorite band turned out to the comercial music

  • So Long Astoria was not their best album... and neither is this one. It's all about Blue Skies Broken Hearts... Next 12 Exits, but that's arguable.

The fact is that they have grown far from their roots: now they are pop.

  • whatever...

Doesn't matter what happens this will be my favorite band because of all they have done so far =D

  • hey guys/gals..am a big atari

s fan from down under..australia,..umm...is this clip really the ataris?... it sounds weird... its not the Chris Roe i know

  • i prefer thier old album, it sounds different from other pop punk bands ive been listening to thier old album for over 3 years and never got bored!thier new album is kinda unique but not really that good as they really changed alot

  • so long astoria was the ONLY cd i could listen to for more than a year. ive listened to it for 4 years now. it was the only album from any band ever that was consitently good throughout every song. i loved the artwork, the music/melodies, the lyrics. it seemed like the ataris were unique and for the while it seemed like they were the only real musicians out there. so what the hell is this? i mean its ok, but they seem to have changed into becoming just another band out there.

  • uh...i think you've got it backwards, buddy. this is actually pretty unique. before they were just another pop punk band. and how was so long astoria so unique? their biggest single was a don henly cover.

  • I have absolutely nothing against they changing their style...

but at least they could keep roe's voice...

he's... singing in a different way...

his voice just sounds different and his voice was the second thing I liked the most about ataris, the first one is theyr lirics

I saw them live playing the new album and they sound great... but here I hear so many effects over his voice... I simply didn't like it after edited

  • yes, they changes, but is the same

    excelent Ataris!! :)

  • The Ataris have finally released an album that's consistently excellent from start to finish and I for one salute them for it.

Anybody who doesn't get just hasn't grown with the band and is no loss anyway. Genuinely think it's one of the best albums I've heard this side of the millenium and their besy yet and I say that as somebody who's been following them from the beginning.

  • It's not the same as their old stuff, but it does not mean its not good. Variation is something that everyone must adapt to. Good musicians are not suppose to play the same shit and same sound over and over. If he's being true to who he really is and how he feels, who the fuck cares.

  • RIP Ataris, amen to that Imatictac

So Long, Astoria is one of my favourite CDs. I've been waiting for 4 years for their follow-up and I had good expectations. I bought Welcome the Night 2 days ago and I haven't really found a song a like all that much. It's all kinda dull and boring. No edge. It's really too bad because the Ataris are great.

  • This is not the same band I have loved for so long.

    RIP Ataris

  • its a little different ...but still deep and i loooooove it.. lol

  • No one wants to hear your crap if you're complaining

  • if you dont like their new album then don't post.

    Great song! :)

  • this fucking blows, they always have and always will HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

  • Ataris it's not the same!

  • PLEASE DONT READ THIS. if you have started reading this theres no stopping now here is wut a dead little boy told me i have blonde hair and brown eyes and black hair if you do not post this to 15 songs you will die by today or tommorow. (THIS WILL REALLY HAPPEN SO POST IT TO 15 SONGS by 8:45PM)

  • the ataris will always be my favourite band, i desperately wanted to like this song, but it sucks, whats happened? if they had any sense they would have stuck to their roots, the lineup sucks too, please change the name from the ataris or release something like the orginal stuff, or i dont see another album happeneing

  • Nice song!

  • Ummm...the songs are great but...sorry to say not as great as theri songs on the "so long astoria album". i mean their new album doesnt seem to exceed the so long astoria album....well thats just my opinion...but the song "not capable of love" is great.

  • I LOVE THEM, this song had a little weird something to it, but i still love it!!!

  • They don't sound like the Ataris pre-Astoria, really. It's still a pretty good song.

  • So Long Astoria was such a good album. I love this Album too though. Bought it as soon as I had the money!!! ++++ LOVE THE ATARIS ++++

  • What's cool is, End is forever was nearly perfect, So long astoria made me blow chunks, and welcome the night is like End is Forever part two, with more distorted guitars

  • I am seeing them in fourteen days!

    XO

  • MAIMKNCH :)

  • none of you who are supposedly loyal fans tried to find out why they hadnt put an album out in 4 years.if youhad you would know this is basically a different band with the same name.two of the original members are still in it including roe, and they have added more including a cellist which is amazing, they also broke off from their original label started their own. roe explains where their new sound comes from one of their inspirations is a eighties alt band called the smiths

  • Better than so Long Astoria, not as good as blue skies, anywhere but here, and end is forever. Ataris where punk rock they where never pop punk. Kris a legend, best song writer ever to walk this earth, but I know hes grown up from his punk days. Just try not to forget your old school fans when you play your gigs. Anyone wanna enlighten me on why kris is playing a left guitar the correct way instead of a righty the wrong way?

  • i love this song!!!

  • this cd is AMAZING
