Cut it close- you had about 10 seconds left on the pool timer before entering the lab. Good thing Dr. Fred was kind enough to reset the timer to allow for his long cutscene and add 2 minutes on top of it. All guts and glory- brutal!

i know if you get the wrong security code for the Steel Security Door, the alarm rings for about 50 seconds, then it stops and you have around 3 seconds to live. But when you drain the pool or turn off the circuit breakers, how long does it take for the house to blow up? And do they give you different amounts of time depending on what you do?

I played this game before and it's a head-ache going through all around the inside of the mansion, getting caught by the ugly dude then lock you up and couldn't get out. The only music I liked is Dave. it was my first time playing it.

nes version sucks !! c-64 thats real MM !!!!!!nes has bad sounds....eeek! and the colors just dont fit...ugly !! play the c-64 or pc version.then you ll have a realer feeling...how its meant to be

Amazing! I used to play this game for weeks, trying to find the different solutions (without help) but the way you "sacrifice" the kids to jail (ed&edna) to team-force your way through, and let the pool alarm ring, ending the game intime without exploding the house ... i have to admit that's impressive!

i know several speedruns, actually THIS one is the fastet! i really wonder if anyone can beat that with an even better plan ^^

I beat this game a different way in 5 min. What's bugging me is I don't remember how!All I remember is that you choose Bernard as one of the characters, record on the cassette a high pitch noise, and play the tape in the room that's all the way to the right when you enter the house with the chandelier. The high pitch noise will break the chandelier and you'll receive the key that was on top of it. Get caught and this key will help you win. That's all I remember; but I'm not sure how.

Getting past Green Tentacle was bypassed by making-use of a glitch courtesy of the New Kid menu.

Where do you get the code of the jail´s gate? I thought you should play in a machine and win... (the machine is in the second floor). And the room where you have to join two wires? It´s for nothing...?

Unless I'm mistaken...

The passcode is randomly selected when Dr. Fred plays the Meteor Mess arcade game. In most versions of Maniac Mansion, you can't open that door until the code's been set, but the NES version doesn't check, letting you open the door using the initial null passcode (ie 0000)
