this video makes shortstop seem so simple, its by far the hardest position in the game both physically and mentally, im a sophomore in highskool and i know for a fact that if the 3rd baseman has a better cutting angle on the inbetween ball he should get it instead of the shortstop having to change his momentum into a diff direction by throwing to first

@AyoStainFTW yea im a shortstop for my varsity team and i let the 3rd baseman call me off for alot of inbetween slow rollers that are easier for him to charge and let him make a straight throw to 1st instead of me having to charge it myself and force a bad off balance throw

this guy haha the shortstop cant call off the third baseman, the thirdbaseman can call him off because he has more momentum towards first. shortstop only controls that part of the field. He cant field every position which this guy seems to be saying. thats why we have a thirdbaseman, second baseman and first baseman. stupid braves fan

The Shortstop doesnt call the third basemen off. The third basemen can call the third basemen off on a ground ball because when he fields it, the third basemens momentum is going towards first base.

Double play depth is more in rather than on the in field grass. Closer to 2nd base.

No the only time 3rd has  call over short is when its a ball more in 3rd territory that 3rd may have more foward momentum on going to firstbase but other than that short is in control
