I say, iPod dominates, if you buy an mp3 player for just the music, get an iPod nano, iPod touch rules, you can't even use YouTube on zune, it's harder to navigate compared to iPod, if you think zune is better, you obviously don't know what an iPod can do
@LillyMJustin I bought a Ipod nano when it first came out and it died so i bought a zune HD and honestly the sound quality between my brothers new ipod and my zune makes ipod seem crappy tho the games on ipod are addictive i prefer the "oh i like that song on the radio" *taps button and downloads the song* and with ipod itll take over 30000$ to fill (legally) when in a month i could download that for fifteen bucks.
for anyone deciding whether to go with ipod or zune. i have the ipod nano (first generation) which is about 5 years old. just so you know, it still works flawlessly and has never crashed or lost data and the only thing that has degraded is the battery life (maxing out at about 3 hours of play time now).
so if you care more about quality, the ipod delivers.
@macbeasty I found that the quality of my Zune 120 (which I've had for almost two years now) is pretty similar to, if not better than the quality of my old iPod.
The only problems I have had with my Zune were a result of taking a fall while riding my bike. One new glass cover and one new battery later (how everything else survived, I'll never know), it's good as new. Granted, there had been some slight battery life degradation pre-repair, but that's to be expected.
Music subscription? Paying xx a month not knowing if something I like will even come out or be available on my service? I'll just get a CD and rip it with iTunes.

@1ohtaf1 I would agree with you on that but I am pretty sure in 10 years it will be down to just (well like 97-95%) iPhone OS and Android. I bet iPhone OS will have about 60-75% and Android will have 20-37%, the remaining dumb phone OS's and the small struggling smartphone OS's will have 3-5%. I think by then iPhone OS will be on many devices (Nokia phones, motorola, some htc, Microsoft kins, and more.)

They stopped supporting AOL screennames for login to iTunes, and then want me to update to Apple ID. Problem is I have to enter a credit card, but I don't have one, so Im stuck. it has a fm tuner, a subscription service, can withstand getting run over by a 4 ton yukon xl with out any permanent or cosmetic damage(in a leather case)
it also has free games but all non msft games kinda suck if mine broke i would buy one tomorow. also it is a msft product so if u hook it up with a 360 you can play the music off of it

dude it is super easy to convert music from itunes to zune software! and zune is just more stable, bigger screen, i like the squircle better and of course the wireless is awesome. i love using it when i just added a few songs to my library and i dont wanna pull out the cord. and i like that the screen doesnt scratch as easily! i have had my 120 zune for a year now and not one scratch on the screen! its amazing, but i would wait for the zune HD to come out and buy the 32gig. My moms getting it =D

I have had a 60GB ipod for a few years now and just got a 8GB Zune for my B-day and plus a friend sold me he's 120GB Zune. So I think the Zune rocks the ipod in ever way. From screen size to looks the Zune is way better then a ipod. Most people that bag or hate on Zunes or anything Microsoft are lame apple zombies. The ipod was fun but my new Zunes rock. na nano is nowhere near better then classic, classic holds more space for collectors and people who enjoy a large music library a classic is better i might get another ipod classic ..but a black one..nano u gonna end up deletin all the music off of it cuz the low amount of space...only thing nano has that classic doesnt have is the camera feature

Hey, man. I have a few questions for you. I have been using iPod for a few years now, but I've had a bad experience with Apple. They stopped supporting AOL screennames for login to iTunes, and then want me to update to Apple ID. Problem is I have to enter a credit card, but I don't have one, so Im stuck. I finally got my music converted, but I'm never buying from Apple again. So, I was just wondering, how hard was it to adjust from iPod to Zune? Also, what makes the Zune better than the iPod?

well it's pretty easy
it has a fm tuner, a subscription service, can withstand getting run over by a 4 ton yukon xl with out any permanent or cosmetic damage(in a leather case)
it also has free games but all non msft games kinda suck if mine broke i would buy one tomorow. also it is a msft product so if u hook it up with a 360 you can play the music off of it

dude it is super easy to convert music from itunes to zune software! and zune is just more stable, bigger screen, i like the squircle better and of course the wireless is awesome. i love using it when i just added a few songs to my library and i dont wanna pull out the cord. and i like that the screen doesnt scratch as easily! i have had my 120 zune for a year now and not one scratch on the screen! its amazing, but i would wait for the zune HD to come out and buy the 32gig. My moms getting it =D

i got a zune a few days ago. while i was walking home listenin to music on it was going to change a song then i noticed the glass screen for it was cracked. started to freak but then i just said i will buy one later (screen) so i at home i tryed to get the glass off but after i got it off i noticed that i broken the lcd screen now! i thorw the piece of shit at the wall then at a other wall then thorw it in a box. haha and i have had a ipod but those things cant stand cold my button on it broke

I have the first iPod mini. it's now 4 years old. It's still doing its job in a perfect way. And still it looks cool. Everything from apple, apart from working very well, looks cool and it's easy to use. Moreover, when you talk about the iPod, you cannot help by taking into account iTunes and the appstore. Something that everybody else is missing...

I have had a 60GB ipod for a few years now and just got a 8GB Zune for my B-day and plus a friend sold me he's 120GB Zune. So I think the Zune rocks the ipod in ever way. From screen size to looks the Zune is way better then a ipod. Most people that bag or hate on Zunes or anything Microsoft are lame apple zombies. The ipod was fun but my new Zunes rock. Chris is right anyway, smart-phones will kill the zunes and ipods. Zune ROCKS! The ipod is ok but not my cup of tea. Apple zombies suck!

i have the ipod touch n i think that the ipod touchs main interface is awesome and it has a lot of features and games, and ive also used a zune and i think its pretty cool but now the ipod touch has wifi, bluetooth n alot more so its better in my own opinion

Just my opinion, but I think many people purchase the ipod becuase of peer pressure. I played around with one before and did not see anything that was really special about the product. I have to say right now as far as better overall product Microsoft's Zune wins this battle.
