there is no bassist in a string quartet. But, there is a bass instrument. It's called a double bass. you might know that though. They're quite popular in psychobilly and rockabilly bands.

well actually, a string quintet consists of 5 instruments and a string quartet consisting 4. for a quintet, 1st violin 2nd violion, viola and i think either two violas or two cellos. One of the two can and does sometime get replaced with a double bass. forgive me if i was off a bit on that? I just started my first year in college studying music.

It teaches you the aspects of music such as theory, music history, sight singing-ear training , composition, then teaches how to apply that into the digital the arts such as video, photography commercials and what not. You enter the program with a primary instrument. My primary instrument is the acoustic guitar

But that's just traditionally speaking--a string quintet can have five violins and still be a string quintet; same is true for a quartet. Rossini composed for a string quartet with two violins, a cello, and a bass in the 1800s. It's all mix and match. And bass has come much more into the forefront in modern chamber music. ...Sorry for being a know-it-all, I like chamber music a lot!

but, at 2:09-2:40, the cello and/or viola needed to play louder and the violins needed to be softer, so that you could hear the melody better there...

Though it just might be me in awe over the fact the violin doesn't sound totally crappy up there... me being a violinist, if I saw a not that high and had to play it I'd die. It's not pretty...

It was originally produced and performed by the band, My Chemical Romance, and is actually one of their better-known songs.

Seeing as it's the String Quartet, I'm sure they use any of those various string-and-bow instruments.

You may be able to find the sheet music by googling something like ""String Quartet - Helena" sheet music"

i love the ending! the bridge is really good. well the whole thing is excellent, but i think in the 2nd choruse if it had stared out pianissimo and legato then crecendo'd to fortissimo staccatto at "if you carry on this way", that would have been really awesome!

yes i agree entirely, but the legato may vause the string quartet problems staying in time and im not too sure about the staccatto, but the legato then crecendo to fortissimo isn't bad idea, i would imagine it would add great more emotional feeling to it, btw legato is played smoothly isn't it, i always get it mixed up with largo and then i confuse wht the meanings are entirely, your ideas are cool go ad speak to their conductor, i shall assist!!! lol

I used to play Cello. I hated it. Now I play the guitar and love it, so I put effort into it. I play my guitar every day, pretty much, whereas I played my cello once a week at the most.
