  • Just to fill you in on the missing ending... Pete goes off. DUD: Pete, Pete. Where you gone Pete? PETE: (Whispers) Tap, tap, tap DUD: Now stop mucking about. Pete.Pete PETE; (Whispers) I am a slug. I've come to get you Dud DUD: Oh stop it, Pete PETE: Creeping round the door to come and get you DUD: Turn the light on PETE: I am a giant man-eating slug. Slurp, slurp DUD: Turn the light on Peter. Turn the light on
  • @MyMandaM At the time I put this up 10 minutes and 50 seconds was about the most I was allowed to put up at one time and I had to trim the ending a bit to get it up. If I were putting it up now I wouldn't have any problem because they allow you to go to 13 minutes or more.

  • LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I should never have listened to this: now I shan't sleep at all tonight...

  • It's a major shame the BBC was in the practice of wiping at this time. So much great programming was lost, not the least of which being many of the early adventures of Doctor Who.

  • Simply mastetful

  • I think Pete was in his cups for this one. Something about the watery eyes....

  • Brilliant every time, as fresh today as the time I saw the original series

  • Love this so much.RIP.

  • Nothing like a cup of cocoa, Pete, eh? There's hot chocolate, quite like it - and that's just the beginning!!!! These two were terrific together. Thanks for posting this.

  • Holy crap! I've never seen this one. I thought I'd seen all of them. What a treasure!

  • you know, what with the new dvd of the best of whats left of not only... but also and the goodbye again release, and now all these other scenes popping up on youtube, i'd have to say I don't believe that the BBC really wiped all of the tapes that they were on in the '60s... thanks so much evagrubb for adding this video of the two funniest men ever to draw breath (to marginally alter and paraphrase Stephen Fry's words)

God I love them so much

  • @IdleDylan Well, the BBC did wipe them, but much of the footage was recovered from buying back material which had been sold to other countries, salvaging rough-cuts and using footage which one of the producers or directors had made from filming the monitors whilst the shooting took place. Thank god for that. One quote I read in a Peter Cook biography was something like "an outrageous act of bureaucratic vandalism". Certainly was....

  • @EljayUay Oh wow, I didn't know that - thanks! It broke my heart when I heard Peter saying how he asked if he could BUY the tapes from the BBC, but they still wouldn't let him! I'm so relieved that it's not all lost. Don't think any other comedians have had such great chemistry as a double act - and there have certainly been none funnier than these two.

  • @EljayUay are entire shows being recovered now, or just Pete and Dud segments? Recall that the original Not Only But Also had musical guests, a weekly spot by the Moore Trio, filmed bits, all kinds of things...

  • @giles422 I honestly have no idea. The biography I got the info from was the Harry Thompson one, though.

  • How come sketch isn't on the DVD of Not

Only But Also?? Where did you find this?

  • this reminds me off a cross between the "Greta Garbo" sketch and the "whats the worst job you've ever had?" sketch

    brilliant

  • It does, but even better! =)

  • Thanks soo much :) Favourited and 5 stars

  • "The hairs on me toothbrush stand on end." :-D
