I used to be a regular at those sessions in the late 80s (as a bumbling amateur). Matt was always great to watch and very encouraging. I just had the idea of searching on YT, only to learn that he'd gone. He once confessed that he only used the guitar to keep him in tune, but I don't think he needed it. Good man.

I'm not comparing myself to him, I just find it interesting that my name is also Matt Armour, I also play guitar and sing, and the wierdest fact of all is he died on my birthday this year.

Oh my God! How this brings the Vaults Bar sessions back to the memory. Playing & singing with this wonderful larger than life character was the best thing I ever did! Thanks Nick for posting, a wonderful tribute to a great character we will miss for the rest of our lives - go sing in heaven Matt - blow their eardums out!! I really feel 12,000 miles away now....
