  • Thanks Rog... for the dream =)

  • Fucking love Waters, brothers!

  • also prerecorded vocals but this time he's actually singing

  • as a 13 year old i discovered delicate sounds of thunder and feverishly enjoyed it. then i found the final cut in a bargain bin, and that changed my life.

  • @GMHCMedia =)

  • People don't like it beacause it's like sticking a knife in your gut!

  • roger was pink floyd, the man is a genius

  • and hold on to the dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee(sax)eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

  • Yes defintely one of the best Pink Floyd songs... even though technically it's a Roger Waters song. Better than some 'classics' like Comfortably Numb, Another Brick... part 2, Wish You Were Here, Time (ok that one is a classic) and Run Like Hell... and of course others.

  • @Yetaxa In an interview, both Waters & Gilmour said that Comfortably Numb was their ' favourite'. NOT their best. I think that all their stuff is great, especially, with respect, since Syd unfortunately departed them.

  • great performance

  • roger waters is a really genius.

  • one of my favorite songs ever....love this

  • Roger Waters

  • What an amazing Sax!!

  • Best floyd's album in my opinion!

  • @agusgoros you're being so hard!!... its a beautiful album... but i think... its all about Waters... and i dont like that if really it was a FLOYD'S ALBUM... ill say the same thing!!!... i'll stay with DSOTM...

  • That was the most AMAZING thing I have ever seen!

I have yet to see anyone surpass roger

  • hoopppp... 4:45 playback????

  • Comment removed

  • 4:39 the best part of the song! His voice is so fucking powerful!

  • @rct3lad1303 it's a backingtrack... :)... his voice WAS... powerful...

  • And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air, i hear the tolling bell, i touch the silk in your appeal, as the teardrops rise to greet the comport of the band, you take her frail hand...AND HOLD ON TO THE DREAM!!!

  • floyds music lead me to turn down all irresistable pastime during the teen years of my life..after 30 years..i sill listen to this album..the final cut...

  • I was so very fortune to be on this great concert!!!

  • that sax is just breathtaking

  • I was sent here by Cleverbot.

  • damn....I made a video (not to spam) with the studio version but i should have used this audio damn strong...

  • vaughat1...those people are deaf!!!

  • And no one kills the children anymore..

  • That sax just blends so wonderfully into an already beautiful song...how can anyone dislike it?

  • spettacolare

  • I almost cried the first time I listened to this. It's so amazing!

  • what a fucking legend !!x

  • khosh behale oonayi ke oonja boodan

  • why he didnt perform "the final cut" ,the song, live? :(

  • @DonConstantinos Because that song is nothing without David Gilmour...

  • @Breatheita what? he doesnt sing at all...and if it is for the solo part...ok most of his live songs has david's solos...

  • @Breatheita oh... you're right... sorry!! but listen my friend... lol... the... "theres a kid"... part sounds a little bit like david... there's my doubt but you were right... the effect in the voice make me doubt... well i think it's for the tone... the song is very hard to sing... in fact with gunners dream he took a very hard risk... and with sheep itself... but i think it was only for the disgrace of making a list to a concert... always somebody is dissapointed... sorry for my english

  • Roger Waters reminds me of David Duchovny...

  • Completely underrated album..this is one of the best floyd songs ever written!

  • @calflames11

I won't go as far as saying that stuff from The Final Cut are the best Pink Floyd songs ever but....

    the album is totally unappreciated.

Definitely something that teenagers should appreciate and point it to the next generation as they smoke a big bowl with them.

  • @calflames11 you're in the right!!! ^^

  • esse cara toca demais!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ai pah The Final Cut é deprimentemente LINDO ...os pêlos quase que saem do corpo ...optimo pa quem quer fazer depilação! XD! é bom é! Mas a minha preferida é a 1º a The Post War Dream.

  • I think, we are living for that kind moments...

  • Although he sings with a playback this performance is really moving... This song is a masterpiece

  • If you watch, the whispering voice if the live voice. Since he can't do two at once, then one has to be prerecorded.

  • Comment removed

  • What tour was this? and who gives a fuck if he lipsyncs. I mean he wrote, and recorded the songs.

  • I think that although he was not lip sync'ing, the music was being played and he was singing/whispering at the same time, like to give a "double-voice'' effect. That would explain the mistakes, I guess...

  • @DonJoPalma at 2:22 minutes you realize he is doing "lipsync", he is singing but carries a base with his young voice that gives power to the live concert, is an older man, and still a genius we can't ask to him to continue singing in the same way that when he was 35, who was put to criticize this act is simply a moron, the part of "hold on to the dream" is insane!! we must recognize that gave us so many notes of madness with his voice and be thankful for what we saw on stage... a walking legend

  • @Breatheita I totally agree with you! I wasn't criticizing anything, this performance is amazing!

  • @DonJoPalma i Know Man... I say this because there are many idiots out here criticizing. I assure you that neither of them can sing, and also! I would like to see their grandparents do something like this ... im only supporting your comment ;) and as a bonus I congratulate you for the musical taste you have:)

    Saludos desde Mexico ;)

  • @Breatheita LOOOL yahh, absolutly! Let them talk, it's just noise, not really words nor ideas

    Saudações de Portugal!

  • @Breatheita yeah smoking probably didn't help him either.

  • This is great stuff!

  • man.... I love that saxophone!

  • @Crazy4Tediz I wish i could put more than one thumbs up for this

  • @Crazy4Tediz sax best part!

  • i honestly dont see the part where he lip syncs... im not saying its not there if someone could just like tell me what im supposed to be hearing/ seeing.

  • Obviously there are a lot of true Roger fans (like me) posting here. As far as the lip-syncing question goes, it is a hallmark of his music to have multi-track voices. Overdubbed screams or whispers conveying a mood. So to hear the piece as it was meant of course some of it is pre-recorded, but not lip-synced.

  • Regardless of whether or not it is his old voice, new voice, pre-recorded or over dubbed - the fact remains the music, the lyrics , the concept , and the feelings it stirs within you is all that really matters - just wait till you get old and have people critize you for not being capable of doing what you could 30 yrs ago - what a ridicules topic , don't you guys have anything better to do with your time - lmao - The sax is the shit though

  • i've spent a LOT of time swimming thru the final cut on tiny pieces of paper, spent years considering it. only roger waters knows what this song means to him but thats the magic of floyd. their music is a flying carpet that takes you back to where you've been, then shows you what is really there. the gunner's dream opened a door for me to an understanding about my mother, all motherhood in fact, and what an incredible act of love is behind bringing life into this world. don't laugh.

  • Now that I see more of this, I actually don't see the big problem - I mean, he's clearly singing live, and double-tracking his own pre-recorded voice. You're hearing raspy Roger singing along with clean Roger.

  • Dude with the sax holds it down.

  • Ladies and gents...Tiff Needell on the saxo!

  • Is the beginning part of that scream at 4:39 actually Roger? Obivously near the end of it, it's the album in the background.

  • @MW2Ultrajman Nah. Roger hasn't been able to scream like that since the mid-Eighties. His vocal range has dropped quite a bit - you'll notice that several of the songs on the Wall tour (most obviously "One Of My Turns") have gone way down in key to accomodate.

  • @SecretTimeWarp Yeah man, I noticed the key change. I have this karaoke mixer on my PC and I shifted the video of his recent performances of "One of My turns" up to the original key and it sounds the same when it's shifted but when it's not, it sounds down a whole tone. Also listen to some versions of "Don't Leave me now" some variations on that when he sings it.

  • @MW2Ultrajman Ohh, you know what, that actually is him. You can distinctly hear the difference between his current voice and the pre-recorded voice, and that's actually him. Huh...

  • What's wrong with you? He is one of the greatest living songwriters, AND: he really does have a pre - recorded voice in the background, but he also DOES sing along with it (try to listen to it through your headphones). And believe me, it's a much greater achievement to write this masterpiece than to sing it.

  • Gives me chills every time I see it.

  • I was there and wasn´t playback! this is not syncronized that´s all!

  • Simply stunning!

  • this is the best album to take a nap too! try it in a set of bose headphones! incredible rest! ty for posting!

  • i dont think his voive is that bad, you can hear he is singing over a backing track...which is off putting...still bloody good tho......roll on london next year !! :)

  • :( That's too bad... his voice is so damaged... :( There is no cutting edge anymore... o... God... he was a legend... i want his real voice even if it doesn't sound as then...

  • Roger Waters Is God!

  • Roger Waters is a living legend. He's old but in his soul, and mind, he still be a Young Pink.

  • Nobel Peace Prize for Roger Waters!

  • @Ill58usion Yes

  • Nobel Peace Prize for Roger Waters!

  • Nobel Peace Prize for Roger Waters!

  • Wounder what was going round Roger's head when he wrote all this. this song is so moving

  • TOTALLY AGREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!1111

  • @Kevinmcrgd123 he did a britney

  • I hate the way people bash Roger! He's a legend. When people draw comparisons between him and Gilmour its so sad. They are both heroes and none more important than the other. Just remember without Roger though, we would never have even heard Dark side, the wall, final cut etc etc

  • Gran canción!! Me encanta Roger! no obstante, las voces duplicadas, en vivo, quedan horribles! tendría que haber desistido de hacer esos agudos, sin remordimientos, o no hacer el tema si ya no le quedaba cómodo.

  • there's no 'real' MTV style lip syncing going on - I think what's causing concern is there IS at certain points, of that song in particular, some very trippy stereo/quad tom - fuckery going on with certain parts of his vocals that are prerecorded in advance, then played back during the song. In concert, this is an awesome effect. The scream at the end literally flies around the hall....very nice, the man still brings it.

  • I don't think that I would say he lip syncs all of his live shows. Indeed, most artists use back-up audio to make the experience better for the audience. If you ask me I would say that Roger simply lost his voice and did not want to reschedule the show in Rio. However, I really don't think he should have gone on if he wasn't 100% but hey that's his business not mine. But it is obvious he is not trying to hide it. Watch other videos from this performance and you'll see he is not trying to hide it

  • i am a big fan of pink floys since i was a kid :D

but i can't believe it, poor Roger, i feel so bad now :/

and wath do u think about te next tour in US??

    i can't believe its playback :/

feel so sad and depressed now :/

    wanna kill myself u.u

  • Here's what I find ironic: David Gilmour looks at lest 12 years older than Roger Waters, yet David sounds as good as ever, and Roger, who has the less-difficult vocals in the band, is the one having to lip synch. I don't hold it against him, it's just surprising. Still looking forward to THE WALL LIVE IN TACOMA, WA!!!!!

  • I would also like to add that this does not take credit away from Roger Waters in my personal opinion. He is obviously a pioneer of progressive/classic rock, and an amazing artist. I am in no way bashing him for this. The man is not as young as he once was, and has paid his dues. I'm sure that after all the years of endless & daily vocal work outs have voice box is simply damaged. If I didn't believe in this man I wouldn't have just spent $500 on tickets for the 2010 Wall Tour.

  • @rjcarothers Right on man, i feel the same way, and just a surprise for everyone else, the instrumental aspects of the wall can also speak louder than the words themselves, so hold on to the dream

  • I have been a huge fan of Pink Floyd all my life and recently came across this video. I have read some of the comments about the video, and after VERY CAREFULLY listening to this performance it is blatantly obvious that Roger Waters is indeed lip syncing. Not only the missed cue at 4:46 but if you listen very carefully (with headphones) just before the saxophone solo when he sings "and hold on to the dream" you can hear that it sounds as if he has lost his voice.

  • Essa música é foda!

    Roger Waters 2010 no BRASIL se Deus quiser!!! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/

  • Essa música é foda!

    Roger Waters 2010 no BRASIL se Deus quiser!!! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/

  • for frack's sake... it's so OBVIOUSLY NOT LIP-SYNCED! What's wrong with you people??

  • pobre Roger

ve lo que le paso por no cuidar la voz, que tiene que recurrir al playback? :(

  • one of the jewels of the final cut

  • After the service when you're walking slowly to the car

And the silver in her hair shines in the cold november air

    uma de minhas preferidas...

it´s also my gunners dream Roger

  • Check out videos on you tube from the Live 8 concert. There's no lip syncing and Rogers voice is definitely shot. David still sounds great though.

  • on the face of it he's using backing tapes for his voice when he misses that cue at 4.46

  • When you can hear his voice above the recording, it sounds very hoarse and strained. I wonder if he was just having vocal problems at that concert.

  • @evilemperordude who cares......really? Wonderful song - he can lip sync the whole thing if i'm there as far as i'm concerned

  • i was there i was there :P

    this is awsome

  • no one kills the children tonight.... some1 has to say it.

  • what does he say in the beginning seconds?

  • Obrigado - Thank you (in Portuguese, iinm).

  • look 4:45 when roger restart to sing... :( - i Lov U

  • its not lip synced its double tracked

  • what year was this show?

  • roger knew it was thier last album. he says in the bottom of my heart i felt the final cut. oh maggie what have you done. i love roger and david both are awsome i think both are selfish not to put the band together again. they owe it to us fans. or else why sing and write songs to begin with. arent we fans made them big and rich and famous? hold on to the dream

  • the final cut is an excellent album.

  • @Ritchie1504

Pink Floyds best album. My opinion I admit but hard to beat.

  • Final Cut was the begining of Sir Roger Waters solo career...........

  • Final Cut is a great album but it was pretty much the reason that Floyd broke up! cos our Mr Waters rode over the whole thing... despite Dave Gilmour doing the same thing with momentary lapse!

  • But Roger had left by AMLOR.

So technically David's ego owned the band then.

  • Nice mistake at 4:46!

  • Come on man !!! its great, but he is quite tired man....... he is not so young.... he needs some help...

  • It's not a mistake. Do you own the album?

  • Comment removed

  • been there =) seen it! :P

  • how was it like seeing roger lipsyncing live? i mean what was the reaction in the crowd

  • Amazing,Fucking amazing.

  • The Final Cut is a good album but I think one of the problems is that it's too direct. Most Floyd albums were vague and open to interpritation while this one isn't as much

  • there r no problems in this album, its perfect :)

  • agreed...this is my favorite of all Rogers stuff (including DSOTM, etc). I love Pros and Cons and ATD as well but this is my FAV

  • ualllll muito bom isso

    Vivo de musica

    Viva...

    phillip brasil

  • this has got to be one of the most melancholy songs I've ever heard- a lot of ppl don't like The Final Cut b/c it's so morose, but man what a great album... never seen it performed live before, but I"ve played it live many times... Waters had so many demons that he chased away through his songs... This is a perfect example...

  • Right man. The Final Cut is a superb album. Peace.

  • still worthy of 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Genius, a great artist.

  • One thing it's sure...white sox, SUCKS!!! lol...

  • He is lip syncing quite a bit during this song but who cares. He has never been the best of singers. He is, however, a majestic songwriter. Great lyrics and definitely the brains behind PF's music. However a band stil needs a heart too ;-)

  • yea =) so true but i like his voice with gilmour =) actually i love!!!

  • Very true. I love it when they sang together like in Comf Numb. Great!!!!

  • love it!! the sax is amazing! roger is quite unique in alot of ways! bin listening 2 him 4 22years, never got bored or suicidal! this song along with every strangers eyes off pros n cons are pieces of art! check out when the tigers broke free 4 those who aint seen!

  • a genius is a genius is a genius.....

  • Always thought the "Dreeeeam!" flowing into the sax note was genius.

If he can't hit the note anymore, the backup singers should do it in chorus, rather than a recording.

  • r u for real - this is the legend that is roger waters - in the raw - this is poetry getting played in front of your eyes - this is the brilliance of you tube - i would pay dearly just for the thoughts, emotions and sheer appreciation of this. do not try to state a case that roger waters is some saddo living off floyd and living off past triumphs - he was a genius with floyd and he is a genius on his own -if he tours again, this is what we want to hear

  • i'm a pink floyd fan , but at the same time i HATE PLAYBACK.

its not good to see ur idol doing those things.

  • you're looking at this from wrong perspective - he can't sing anymore (as he would like to), his voice is too damaged.

you're reacting as if we're talking here about britney spears or some other insignificant teen pop star.

the man is an institution. and yes, although it's a bit sad to see him lipsyncing, that is not his choice nor it undervalues him in any way.

  • yas!..someone who understands why rogers using original vocals from final cut!..you got to be a musician!...years of screaming would damage must ppls vocals! shine on!

  • but these arent the original vocals

  • @slafkec I'm pretty sure he isn't lip syncing in this because he sings it a little bit differently.

  • @vidales31 Grazie, amico.

  • @vidales31 superlikeeeeeee lol

  • @slafkec What? He very obviously is NOT lipsynching here...

  • @slafkec sadly i too have to agree, but i recommend seeing the wall tour live cuz he actually took some voice lessons and let me tellu he did very well and i believe it all him in tht one

  • @BigDaddyCooL1 Almost. All but the high notes and "Hey You". (There are a LOT of people saying he lipsyncs his way through the whole damn Wall, but I've compared different concerts, and for the most part, they're different performances.)

  • @SecretTimeWarp yeh, u feel bad for him, but its hard i think for even these new ppl, when u get older its just harder for u to hit those high notes like b4 and especially for waters its hard cuz his screaming really tore his throat up i think, but ill always love his voice no matter wat.

  • @slafkec FINALLY! Someone who loves Roger Waters but isn't blinded by the "Roger Waters is a genius and would never lip-sync!" naivety.

  • the final cut is my comfort blanket

  • I saw him in Phx for the Pros and Cons tour. He brought his own speaker system. It cracked the foundation of the Colosseum here! Oh noes!

  • I freakin' love that sax solo. it's amazing.

  • people who think the final cut is a bad album dont get pink floyd, it is one of the most underated, but who the hell cares about ratings

  • I agree with you, it's one of my top favourite floyd albums, so touching, and quite a few people commenting here seem to think so too :)
